Help with F-16b
MigBuster replied to triplethr3at's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Can you select to fly it in a single mission and arm it with weapons? - or do you mean its not appearing in the 3D world? -
A truly tragic and devastating event :cray: http://news.bbc.co.uk/

hmm thats screwed - this is what Lead Pursuit used to recommend: If anyone is having issues uninstalling Allied Force, please try the following: Go to this page http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;290301 Halfway down is the download link to grab the Installer Cleanup Utility package. Once you have downloaded the file, double click it and select "Run". This will install the package. Go to C:\Program Files\Windows Installer Clean Up and double click "msicuu.exe" In the list of programs that appear in the new window, choose (All Users) Falcon 4.0: Allied Force .... and at the bottom hit "remove". This should allow you to reinstall AF correctly.

An FAA Hawker Sea Fury is credited with MiG 15 kill during the Korean War - so dont underestimate old timers - think thats what this thread is getting at? -
F-111 Problems

could go anywhere with that: DamagedEngineSoundName=CommunistLaughing -
Welcome Chief - glad to see you have a lot of time on your hands too - you may need it. The training missions are invaluable so go through them 1 at a time - and yes you get a 2 seat training version for the training - that I dont think you can change. You will find most people printed the entire manual off - I certainly did . Best to start off with the realistic avionics - no point in learning the simple stuff you wont use later. You will find a lot of tips on the simhq and Fugalsworld forums too - because when it comes to things like dogfighting and avoiding missiles the manual is just a basic quick start guide. The clickable 2D cockpit can mean you not having to learn all of the 3 million commands straight away - though over time you learn the more common ones obviously. If you end up liking the game then adding a TrackIR 4 for use in the 3D cockpit is a must for dogfighting - cant fly without one anymore! good luck

Someone sent me an Excel spreadsheet file at work yesterday - opened it up and it had the original Pacman game embedded in it as a Flash object. works just like I remember - this ones free though

P-51D-30 problems
MigBuster replied to Shin_kazama's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Well if you are sure the Mustang.ini file is set to look at the correct files then - just a hunch having not downloaded it - but is its NationName set to USAAF? If it is then change to USAF or put USAAF into the Nations.ini -
F-111 Problems
MigBuster replied to Hooah!'s topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Sounds In the planes _data.ini file you can see/change what sound files are being used - this is from the stock F-4M: [sound] EngineSoundName=JetEngine AfterburnerSoundName=JetBurner DamagedEngineSoundName= FlapsSoundName=Flaps AirbrakesSoundName=Airbrakes GearsSoundName=Gear The cockpit folder with the files has to be in the F-111's folder ie: C:\.....\Wings Over Europe\Objects\Aircraft\F-111F\Cockpit -
Frightening Encounter
MigBuster replied to Fubar512's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Can the game model a situation where a plane goes to burner and gives off a better heat signal to track? Ive never noticed any difference in this regard. The know it alls at f-16.net certainly think the F-22 is conventional when it comes to modern heaters - it still gives off heat friction on the airframe etc -
WOE stock GR.3 harrier campaign broken?
MigBuster replied to SBIR's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The service date for each plane is at the top of the data.ini file (ie F-4E_Data.ini) Yes you can replace an existing plane by changing the Aircraft Type and DefaultTexture. If the unit you are changing is human playable it will have the list of weapons below it - you may also want to change the campaign.ini file also. The campaign date is at the top of the campaign_data.ini and the start dates for each unit are in the campaign.ini Opening up a can of worms - If you want to use the F-16 for the Germans you would probably have to create a German F-16 - as in make a copy of the F-16A_Blk10 folder - rename it to F-16A_Germ then rename its main ini file to F-16A_Germ.ini. In the Data.ini set NationName = WGermany Of course then it will only be able to use German/NATO weapons - you may also want to get different skins for it also. good luck with that - make sure you check the knowledge base here which can help you in more detail. -
WOE stock GR.3 harrier campaign broken?
MigBuster replied to SBIR's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
SFP/SFG/WOV/WOE are practically the same game underneath especially if they are all patched to the latest version - probably 90% of the mods work for all 3. The loadout is determined by the campaign data ini file that you are about to get from the flight folder - which should be moved to the relevent campaign folder. The automatic loadout for each plane is in the aircrafts personal loadout.ini (harrierGR3_Loadout.ini) file that can be found in "object.cat" and once extracted should be moved into the harrierGR3s folder. note - Once you extract a file from a .cat file its only a copy - if you hash it up you can delete the ini file and extract it from the cat again. -

Jul 06 weapons mod tough for sam evasion.
MigBuster replied to tmdgm's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The SA-2F Model 5 is very difficult to beat without ECM or chaff and comes in to the standard game from around 1968/69. Your best bet is low level with these - am not sure they were this good in IRL though tbh there would have been a lot more jamming and ECM aircraft to support you. Proper SAM evasion techniques are needed - ie beam it for a start. -
SFP/WOV/WOE Patch names and numbers
MigBuster replied to TurtleHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
5-15-06 is service pack 4 for WOE/WOV and SF - though if you go to the thirdwire site you simply select the game from the drop down box and it then lists the patches for that game only. To distinguish a SP from a patch take note of the size - you will see on the thirdwire site 5-16-06 is pretty big for each game 40MB - 70MB whereas patches are small (4MB to 6MB). -
Its great news! - thats the first ive heard of the Iranians being allowed access to its people though! oh well we can just speculate for now what deals are being done behind the scenes.

SFP/WOV/WOE Patch names and numbers
MigBuster replied to TurtleHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The date is also the official naming convention used by Thirdwire http://www.thirdwire.com/downloads_wov.htm Theres actually a load of patches in between that have dates on too - that date is shown at the bottom right hand corner of the main screen when you load the game so you can easily tell which version you are patched to. Service Pack 4 is 05-15-06 and it includes all the fixes from previous SPs and patches Basically its the 4th major upgrade since the release of Strike Fighters in 2002 - the previous packs are no longer available so its less likely anyone knows the exact dates of those patches.
