  10. Well said that man - and Quote of the week winner I think. Now if only i could have a key allocated to turn the rotating 'furry dice' on in the cockpit - that would be sweet....TK! ....where are you
  11. Is the zoom not working (left and right mouse buttons by default) ? Also remember to change the radar range when bandits are closer. Sometimes the radar cant distinguish individual planes at distance anyway - if you are using a 60's varient
  12. They only fire if you get a radar lock on the target plane as in real life. Taking an F4 for example in the 60's in Normal/Hard level - Set radar to search mode using "Page Up" Set the range using "Page Down" When you see a blob or blobs on the screen select one using "Home" key Lock one with the "Insert" key When its in range <20 miles - you should get a cue - fire the missile. Once fired you need to maintain radar lock on the target till / if the missile hits otherwise the missile will lose target. Note Early Sparrows are bad and often blow up anyway as the real things were! If the target is flying away from you the launch range needs to be <10 miles When using the radar those blobs could be freindly or enemy! Keep the target above you so the radar doesnt get confused by ground clutter At simhq.com there is a full article on AA delivery to get the full picture - they are easy to use after a while - use the search facilities here and at simhq - everything you need to know has already been said
  13. At what point is the game freezing? do you get any error messages - tbh this is one of the most stable games ive played - modding can cause problems sometimes - although even then the problem can be fixed. You do not need a high end system for this game - but a 32MB graphics card is a requirement. My Pc a HP Pavillion came has a Radeon XPress 200 board chipset but came with a PCI Express Nvidia Geforce 6200 graphics card installed. in fact I think the chipset is there to help the card: http://techreport.com/reviews/2004q4/radeo...00/index.x?pg=1 To check what you actually have in Win XP: Go to Start -> All Programs ->Accessories-> System Tools-> System Information When system information opens down the left hand side expand "Components" by clicking on the little plus sign - then select Display. there are other ways to see this if u get no joy doing this. regards
  14. Good stuff - thanks for posting
  15. So it sunk after the naval fire - clearly the weapon of choice :)
  16. I cant believe that - who made these claims?
  17. Thats great info there - thanks for posting that.
  18. 'Vark ECM pods

cool - bin meaning to look for that for a while now!
  19. Have you changed the ending date for the game? In the main WOV game folder there is a file called "Options.ini" open this in Notepad and scroll down to the single mission section: [singleMission] AircraftType=F-5C MissionMap=VIETNAMSEA .............. MissionYear=1968 StartYear=1964 EndYear=1973 <----------- Change this to 2020 or whatever then save the file and close it see if that changes anything
  20. Do you not get a box asking you to send a report to Microsoft with that error? it should give details of the dll file causing the problem. The memory ref is meaningless in this situation. What planes have you installed? any modern ones past 1973? Have you had to install any weapons or tanks to go with them? have you altered or moved any of the planes files. So to confirm - the stock planes load up ok?
  21. Does the error message give any details? If you cant load any planes then you need to install the latest version of direct X. If it flags a missile.dll problem - it may be either to do with using the wrong version of the weapons editor to add weapons. also: The plane you have installed could have files missing or corrupt - like the models ".LOD" files for example. Some like the Mig 25 needed the base set to large i think - otherwise it would crash the game.
  22. WoE

Problem with WOE is that there is not much water - whereas WOV had carrier campaigns from the start - am not sure if any WOE carrier missions have been done yet. I dont think there is a list of all mods - there are a lot on this site under the downloads section though so have a browse. Also search the simhq forums - there is loads of useful help already on there. There is an article on how to add carriers on the knowledgebase: Knowledgebase What applies to WOV should work in WOE - Most mods work in SF/WOV and WOE but not all do so be careful. Change one thing at a time and test it as you go along. Make backup copies of any files you change so you can revert any bad changes.
  23. Overlooked this as my later stuff is all in Strike Fighters - Its in options.ini in the main game folder [singleMission] AircraftType=A-10A ........................................ MissionYear=1978 StartYear=1955 EndYear=1985 <<<--- change this to the desired end year for single missions
