DEBug error
MigBuster replied to alanmac's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Have you changed the ending date for the game? In the main WOV game folder there is a file called "Options.ini" open this in Notepad and scroll down to the single mission section: [singleMission] AircraftType=F-5C MissionMap=VIETNAMSEA .............. MissionYear=1968 StartYear=1964 EndYear=1973 <----------- Change this to 2020 or whatever then save the file and close it see if that changes anything -
DEBug error
MigBuster replied to alanmac's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Do you not get a box asking you to send a report to Microsoft with that error? it should give details of the dll file causing the problem. The memory ref is meaningless in this situation. What planes have you installed? any modern ones past 1973? Have you had to install any weapons or tanks to go with them? have you altered or moved any of the planes files. So to confirm - the stock planes load up ok? -
DEBug error
MigBuster replied to alanmac's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Does the error message give any details? If you cant load any planes then you need to install the latest version of direct X. If it flags a missile.dll problem - it may be either to do with using the wrong version of the weapons editor to add weapons. also: The plane you have installed could have files missing or corrupt - like the models ".LOD" files for example. Some like the Mig 25 needed the base set to large i think - otherwise it would crash the game. -
Problem with WOE is that there is not much water - whereas WOV had carrier campaigns from the start - am not sure if any WOE carrier missions have been done yet. I dont think there is a list of all mods - there are a lot on this site under the downloads section though so have a browse. Also search the simhq forums - there is loads of useful help already on there. There is an article on how to add carriers on the knowledgebase: Knowledgebase What applies to WOV should work in WOE - Most mods work in SF/WOV and WOE but not all do so be careful. Change one thing at a time and test it as you go along. Make backup copies of any files you change so you can revert any bad changes.

AIM-120 Missile
MigBuster replied to lummet's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Overlooked this as my later stuff is all in Strike Fighters - Its in options.ini in the main game folder [singleMission] AircraftType=A-10A ........................................ MissionYear=1978 StartYear=1955 EndYear=1985 <<<--- change this to the desired end year for single missions -

AIM-120 Missile
MigBuster replied to lummet's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
They are already in the weapons pack - so you either need a plane that uses them by default or you need to add them in to the plane you want to use them on - bear in mind the plane must have a radar capable of using them with! The planes data.ini file needs 'AHM' in it - for example as this taken from an F16 Block 30: [station7_AAM] SystemType=WEAPON_STATION .......... LoadLimit=2000 AllowedWeaponClass=IRM,SAHM, AHM <<<<---------- AttachmentType=NATO,USAF .......... If you want to load them automatically then you need to add them to the correct pylons in the planes loadout.ini file ie: Loadout[01].WeaponType=AIM-120A Loadout[01].Quantity=1 Loadout[02].WeaponType=AIM-120A Loadout[02].Quantity=1 Loadout[03].WeaponType=AIM-120A Loadout[03].Quantity=1 Loadout[04].WeaponType=AIM-120A Loadout[04].Quantity=1 Loadout[05].WeaponType=AIM-120C Loadout[05].Quantity=1 Loadout[06].WeaponType=AIM-120C Loadout[06].Quantity=1 You should be able to use versions of it from 1991 for USAF,USN,UK,SWEDEN,ITALY,ISRAEL,W_GERMANY It came about when it did because it is extremely advanced I guess - even in the Gulf war in 91 Sparrows were proved adequate enough anyway. -
Refuelling missions for WOE??
MigBuster replied to Typhoon86's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
havnt seen any tbh - if you cant find any posts on here then search the simhq forums to see if anyone is sorting this. I have only seen air refuelling simulated in Yankee Air Pirate - the add on to WOV so far -
Avionics70.dll vs Avionics60.dll
MigBuster replied to Ben Martin's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The F-16 Block 10 update has a cockpit that uses avionics70.dll with the CCIP etc - so I ported that into my block 30. copy the cockpit folder, the avionics.ini and cockpit.ini files over and point the f-16c_b30.ini to them and also change avionics60dll=avionics70.dll Dont write over the existing files in the b30 folder - rename them to cockpit_OLD or something. The A7E HUD was updated about a month ago - search on the simhq forums - there is a post about it. dunno about the others -
Red Crown request for help
MigBuster replied to Mur's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ha - Ive been pressing that key for 3 years in the hope that maybe....just....1 day!! I dont think the feature has been implemented yet - someone correct me if im wrong - one of the many original SF features TK has yet to sort out. So if you need help in the future....well run, fight, ram, or Eject. -

Checkout the Thirdwire series Strike Fighters/Wings Over Vietnam / WIngs over Europe. There are thousands of free mods on this site in the downloads section - including countless Planes to skin. If you were to choose Wings Over Vietnam - you are still in a close combat situation - mainly because the missiles are cr*p - but its an entirely new way of fighting compared to WW2. The avionics are simple - and its a relatively easy game to get into - and once you have been playing it for a while its something you can just play when you have a 15 mins :) check out www.simhq.com forums also to see whats going on: http://www.simhq.com/simhq3/sims/boards/bb...ubb=forum;f=145simhq

I can´t post in the WOV forum?!?
MigBuster replied to JochenPeiper's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
In a campaign only certain weapons are available depending on what difficulty you have set the game up to be and what squadron you choose. This can be changed if you wish by altering the particular campaign ini file - but to do this you would need to read the knowledge base on this site. Having only certain weapons to choose from makes things more of a challenge! regards -
Beginner question about bombing WOV
MigBuster replied to Stevee625's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Could be how WIndows has set your Keyboard up - have you tried going into Options-> controls and remapping the key to another -unused one - or a joystick button - then try that as for bombs not showing up - what the actual 3d models? Unless you have changed the aircrafts loadout.ini file they should be fine. Are you using a 3rd party plane downloaded from this site by any chance? -
help with patches & mods
MigBuster replied to Sokol's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The only way to tell for sure i guess is have a program on your pc that logs every single file change so your could check it - or ask Thirdwire :) If you have extracted any files from the CAT files and changed them and they are missing after you apply the patch its a good bet they have been changed! - so in this case i would mod them again from the new version in the CAT file. In the case of the recent patch which was small - I just installed it over my modded versions - and took out the sea and terrain mods from the terrain folder - to try out the new sea. Then i just put back some of the bits i wanted. I to have basic fresh installs that i just patch and then copy over - but I will only do this if a large patch comes out like SP4 - its annoying having to install so many mods again :( -
Screen resolution
MigBuster replied to droptank's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Would have thought that card would be fine tbh right click anywhere on your desktop and select 'properties' to bring up 'Display Properties' Select the "settings" tab Click on the "advanced" button Select the "Monitor" tab Make sure it recognises your monitor type make / model Then select the geforce 5200 FX tab or what ever its called Note down the "ForceWare version" if its under 84.21 then its time to download the latest drivers from nvidia and try them - making sure you uninstall the existing ones - the 'add / remove programs' in the 'control panel' should have "NVIDIA DRIVERS" in there somewhere. Hope fully you should have your existing drivers on the disk that came with the card if you need to reinstall them again. -
Screen resolution
MigBuster replied to droptank's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
assuming you set the correct aspect angle for the resolution - do you know what type / make of graphics card you have? If you have XP go to: Start->AllPrograms ->accesories->System Tools ->System Information when the system information loads up down the left hand side expand "Components" by clicking on the + sign, to the left of it, then select "Display" -
Screen resolution
MigBuster replied to droptank's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
What monitor do you have and whats the native resolution (if its an LCD)? In the grahics settings make sure you also select the correct "Display Aspect Ratio" for your monitor as well as the "Display Resolution". If that is correct then make sure you have the correct graphics drivers for your card - as in check the manufacturers website - and get the latest version if poss. Because its happening to other games it is likely to be your graphics card. Also check whether your card is able to support WOE.
