  1. you're not the only one saying the speeds feel off, been raised on numerous occasions in the past but it's just the mix of FOV, terrain engine etc. Would feel pretty different if the mesh resolution of terrains was five times denser than it is (500 meters vertex spacing in SF2 HFD format terrains)
  2. sigh because there is no harm done in asking questions, is it? I was thinking some kind of control over avionics cycles updates etc given as you mentioned ideed there are alot of oddly realistic features implemented for a "easy fun game with planes in it" also I have spend countless hours digging into the FLTGUNSIGHT and FLTHUD shaders and material inis trying to cull the bloody reticles by meshes so no not really can live with the sight drifting Side note, with what's now preveiling attitude from the really old timers here I might take my toys and find myself other sandbox seeing as everyone is soo anusealed (yep I just made that word... oh you see what I did there? :D ) about digging deeper beyond inis; a trend I have noticed for quite some time here, it ain't helping. Shall I evaluate?
  3. what Wrench said... that said I wonder if Mue wouldn't be able to produce TOD resizing tool of some sort given he seems to have the format nailed. Blaze95 don't expect the FE2 TODs to be that good looking in SF2 even if resize would be possible, the 500meters resolution as compared to 2km of SF2 series gives you like 16 times the visual density of FE/FE2 TODs compared to jet titles. I was able to push the limits far beyond what seemed possible in SF2 TODs per-tile objects but by trial and error Terrain Editor ini "hacking" and more so odd approach to texturelist writing/reading etc as Terrain Editor too has it's age and limitations. TL;DR don't expect much, the engine won't allow like 10000 objects per tile anyway
  4. given I work VFX in Unity I was talking with Swambast months ago about possibility of some kind of Unity Shuriken system (the build in Unity particles editor) to SF2 translator but htat died unfortunately; also you seem not to be aware how utterly limited and 1990s the particle system by Thirdwire is, something I fight with on daily modding basis
  5. nice but try lowering the emission rate o nthe grey smoke a bit, you can go away with much less particles if these keep the effect looking believable
  6. No the dlls have nothing to do with the units. Units are just that, arbitrary units. If you use one of the available measurement tools (I think Fast Cargo uploaded few ages ago) or make yourself one then you'll see that the terrain keeps the glbal units system so 2km tile is 2km. As for some airplanes not matching exactly, which ones those would be> Stock or more likely 3rd party ones?
  7. more so the more DCS starts to feel like uber realistic "Dogfights" the less I take is as a fun engaging game* cough FW-190D vs F-86 vs A-10C cough *thy who dares disagreeing -dude it is a game

  9. the biggest prblem for me is the terrains. Nevada is ok for Red Flag I suppose but who sane would play RF scenarios? Ahh right, Streak and Dave. The lack of 3rd part custom maps like indeed Israel or nam or even some generic SEA is joykiller. The same for lack of any custom campaigns generator system, but that I have to recheck. Anyway, my modules lay uninstalled and have not played it in months. 2015 was the time I think lol. So no, not really DCS guy

    there will be slight errors in the labels texts as forcing my keyboard to utilize extended cyrillic is not easy
  16. 1) some older terrain mods feature unrealistically big trees thus giving slower speed feel. 2) FOV is indeed the biggest offender, I tend to play with wide view all the time when in cockpit (the F2 key) -haven't really noticed fish eye at that angle

    that too but it might be the rise of new social class of terrorist-wannabees (mostly second or third generation immigrants from you know where) detached from the modern society of western culture, not particulary beliving in whatever invisible man in the sky is the rage of the particular ethnicity, who can't and won't achieve any thing of significance in their life -so the act of suicide accompanied by act of mass murder is the only act they can produce. See, the issue with suicidal bombers or suicidal attackers is not that they want to go to heaven for the 72 peas (side note: read how peas turned into virgins by bad translations of one certain "book" ages ago) but they want to out themselves in terryfying way. Could have all the sick attention and "liveleak celebrity" status as I call it if they gave up -vide that Utøya scum I won't name. I won't write my thoughts about how I view this as collateral damage of post colonialism and Iron Curtain thrown in for good measure (see, you could have had all the Czechs, Yugos and Poles building the West's prosperous cities in the boom of post war if not the Yalta -instead of the workforce from former colonies; would save west alot of issues now, and hello allies)

  21. you might find solace in knowing I have already working beta of new Sweden tileset in the works. No certain ETA though -somewhere this autumn perhaps? But I'd really want to wait for Mue's custom TODs editor to make it even more appealing cities wise
  22. "good simulator" -care to elaborate? Then we could maybe list the mods that up the SF2 experience? I bet there are folks apart from you that also would have a to the fullest realism kind of installation

  24. Also for one in a million chnace put the shaders also into root terrains folder. Another question Falcon, is the modded folder in the (mostly usual) username/saved games/ or on other drive?
