NP welcome aboard I think is was included with the "Dynamic Battle of Britain" campaign @simouthouse, the one featuring Ground Controller voices, but it was well four or so years ago... IIRC gave sweet steel-bluish metallic specular to planes

New IL2 game

of course UK_Widowmaker. The lack of dynamic campaign is a bummer for me. I never enjoyed much scripted missions in Il2 -
New IL2 game

no dynamic campaign, no dynamic weather, no Dx11 at the release... all I saw on the fan-made cellphone movies is IL2 with higher poly kinda plastic models (but still old type damage modelling), so-so effects (better than stock Il2 anyway) and nice (but not great 2011 release) terrain with funny colours. I'll buy it out of curiousity and not on release I think -but NOT to "support developer", to have as much fun as this could deliver... in fact the whole "buy this to support developing and further polishing" thing is quite not in place for me. Or in other words "Heys guys! I have super-duper uber extra simulation engine covering state-of-the-art flight dynamics from Wright Flyer to Mars Rover, with Avatar-level 3D graphics, right now all I have is the main screen I can't show you, but please buy this sim so I can add certain features later, will ya?" IF there was Mission Editor for WOP, I wouldn't care too much, really. -
Congratulations Julhelm & Team!

I'm an alcoholic. I've been drinking since I was 21. 9 years it is. When did it started? On 9/11 perhaps. When I saw the planes in a foreign country hitting The Towers, and I realized how so smart, yet simple move it was. I think 9/11 was the begining of my downfall... from a well-perceived student of architecture to a bum I become two years later. edit: I finished, have Royal Institute of British Architects certificate, so no worries about this. What is it to be alcohol addicted? It's all about being alone, becoming left and spending weekends alone. I lost too many people I still call Friends. During this journey of mine, I've spend too many New Years unconciously at my flat. Not watching the fireworks. About becoming man (moderators, please edit) I've lost my virginity at age of 26, with a hooker. Gabi was Her name. About loving Being drunk makes you dizzy, makes you angry, makes you claim whatever's not yours. Makes you lost, loosing The One you love. Makes you jealous... hitting The One you loved for 4 years in the face. Makes you interact in looosely based sex relationships. Being drunk not able to satisfy... About friends. Lost them. Won't speak to me again, I really can't say I wonder why. Just let me give you insights: 30 years old male with 23 years old hooker type girl (in a red dress that makes you set world on flames) writng at night she just had seks with her 50+ boss... bad combination. Smashing your only love you had in your miserable life. Not good. Smashing your friend not good too... Not answering phone from your new 19-years old girlfriend: please all repeat: not good... About family. They get used to after few years.... edit: and after few "visitations" in the ER edit 2: typo in RIBA

I'm a textbook functioning example too James, Sir. Really hoped this great new year would change things for me, but it didn't. I had a new girlfriend at the end of that year, you know, 19 years old blonde one, but I couldn't keep Her interested... booze won over. So I know how's it about, I know it too well... 9th year it is

New IL2 game
Stary replied to xclusiv8's topic in IL-2 Series / Pacific Fighters / Cliffs of Dover: General Discussion
been following this one for qute some time now... I know they (Oleg and team) have some issues with 1C and Ubi, and had to rename it to Cliffs of... but I really don't like the new title. C'mon! IL2 whatever and not a single Shturmovik in it? And as to today they have yet to release a single picture from complete D11 build, with all the features, I'm sooo boored with the "another alpha running on Ivan's ten years old system unadequate preview" updates. -
The airhead one gives you head, an attractive one with the brains makes you helpless, been there, done that.

Patch December 2010-C is out!
Stary replied to EricJ's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Why? WHY? I bought inbox or by digital every single title from TK, some more than once. I deserve some response from The Guy! Even if this is "so unimportant" as trees vs clouds childlish sorting bug! This is going down, down, down. I'm soo tired of making mod A because of 8 years old obvious bug B renders it useless. TK must evolve, as we, and OUR MODS people buy these titles for did. Or he will be left alone with those "nifty planes" TK shoot himself in the foot with the "airstart bug" to me. -

Stary replied to EricJ's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
right Eric, but as the series progressed, these "nifty planes" became a bit more seriously modelled than "lite sim" standards, I mean, all the sub variants of A-4, or the modelling of Red Top acquisition in Lightning, jammer frequencies etc. In some areas this series getting quite serious IMO, but that isn't followed by any progress in many other areas -

I wonder how similar indie project soon to be released (JT) will compare with series2, I think Dante and his team are also just few people finally putting that title together. What I can't understand about TK is few "jet era planes simulation" things that are missing or done wrong since day one, those ejecting pilots being the first thing missing that comes to mind. Surely I'd love to have the options menu to constrain the gunsight to the HUD display, this one could be very easy for TK to add in a day as every aircraft has planar hud x,y dimensions in it's avionics file specified. And I don't beg for true to life projected to infinity HUD displays. Just as an option for those willing to use it. Or belly landings, those shoot out wheels magically droping from behind closed gear doors ask for gear up ditching game of nerves. A lot of things can be modded, I have in my install trucks that require more than single 20mm bullet to become destroyed, or tanks that you simply can't destroy using Mustang's .50s in few passes. But the core rules are closed for modding. -
That's why I consider Wings of Prey the best WW2 simulation to date (yes it's a simulation). It's the looks and feel of "being there" over rooftoops of burning Stalingrad that delivers the experience. Today, being away from my main gaming/simming/modding system I finally bought copy of HAWX (the first one), this title is prime example of pure arcade title, with good but not great graphics (mind you, I'm in mission one, on low end single core Dx9 system here), but also not pretending to be more serious than it can be. Which is ok for me, what hurts me are in fact quite serious titles (guess which series... ) pretending they are "lite", and as such doesn't requiring complex (battle)environment thus "suspending" the simulation experience when looking outside the canopyglass.tga Mr who? GunnySonics, these repainted in high resolution for Series2 are MUCH better than earlier version EricJ pointed you to: http://combatace.com/files/file/10348-hr-sf2e-germanyce-terrain-update-part-1-of-2/ http://combatace.com/files/file/10350-hr-sf2e-germanyce-terrain-update-part-2-of-2/ here's fix for them here: http://combatace.com/files/file/10408-fixed-tfd-file-for-my-hr-sf2e-germanyce-terrain-update/ and scaled down tiles for slower computers: http://combatace.com/files/file/11188-512x512-tiles-for-ca-starys-hr-sf2e-germanyce-terrain-update/ have fun -
Piecemeal's Airfield Mod For Stary's 'Green Hell 3'

Graphics are important part. And the "core" simulation part doesn't take that much in fact, all goes down to optimization of code. Falcon 3.0 was running on what, 386DX processor? Now more computing power has every cheap smartphone-wannabe. Falcon 4.0, I remember playing demo on my Pentium 166Mhz with 32MB of ram and Voodoo 1. Was it bad simulation? No, it's still perhaps among the best as F-16 systems modelling goes. Similar case with the forgotten JSF, remember the quality of terrain masking and ground environment in that title? Still ahead of what the our most popular series here has to offer as far as ground environment goes I played that one on even older Pentium 90 with 8 MB of ram. DID's titles are another example of (then I admit) high fidelity simulations running on ancient computers by todays standards. But, in my own biased opinion, we aren't much more HiFi as systems modelling goes these days. Recently I was suprised how in fact survey, or "lite", and innacurate in avionics modelling, Flamming Cliffs 2 are. DCS series seem only one modern example of real high fidelity titles around, but I haven't played them, so can't really say. Xclusiv is right about the money, the example console title (Ace Combat6) mostly rely on high resolution satellite data which costs a lot of money. So-so quality 2x2 kilometers picture for commercial use costs around 90-100 dollars up, as I found myself. @Squid: we're talking flight simulations, not women here
