Folland Gnat F.1 cockpit
Stary replied to Stary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Thanks guys, Ordway as you are known in my book for pursuits of very realistic and faithful cockpits representations you might find my slight liberties I openly admit to a bit distracting but I hope it isn't anything biggish -
Edit CAT files
Stary replied to Del2i's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I'll hijack this topic a bit -do we have CAT packer? There is something I wanted to test but I need to have packed cat file, terrain in fact re-packed to cat -
Any Recommended addons for SF2

I'd really recommend NOT the latest Unified effects pack with update I did around 2010 or 2011 but older Hollywood Explosions package. Unified fx package is somewhat broken in several aspects, reasons unkonw, at least I wasn't able to track some odd behaviours myself. anyway, I am fiddling with some effects from scratch, new ones will be uploaded as individual ones (say chaff and flares pack, flak effects pack etc) for people to pick up the ones they like looks of -

Stary replied to Stary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
there is in Series 1 download in soviet aircrafts, near the end of the pages as I wrote in the upload, bringing it to SF2 series is easy and quick, in case of doubt refer to Knowledge Base relevant topic here's the SF series 1 version by Pasko I think, uploaded by Doghouse http://combatace.com/files/file/6875-yak-28p/ -

File Name: Yak-28B cockpit File Submitter: Stary File Submitted: 18 February 2015 File Category: Jet Cockpits Yakovlev Yak-28B cockpit. V0.9 18.02.2015 Cockpit for Yak-28B Brewer soviet jet bomber. Comes with "Stary's patented bombsight" for quite accurate high altitude level bombing. Bombsight activated with switching to air-to-ground gunsight mode or by simply selecting A2G ordnance. Suitable for Yak-28, Yak-28B and several other subtypes of Brewer family aside from P/PM and R/RR/PP types (without getting into too much detail). To install: Best would be to backup your existing Yak-28B ini files and cockpit folder, right? Extract to your Yak-28B folder, overwrite when asked. If you want to substitute this for other planes you should know what to do as the procedure is straightforward. Freeware license apply, not to be used as part of payware of any sort. Raw max 3D model available for those willing to work on this as basis for other mods/adjustments. Feel free to include in your own reuploads, retextures, tweaks etc without asking. Credits: Pasko, Doghouse, Lindr -for their work on Yakovlev 25/27/28 series through all the years. Avionics and data adjustments based on ini files by Doghouse and Lindr I think -at least found in the packs they created and or uploaded Boopidoo- I borrowed the "fake" SPO-10 idea from his excellent Su-15TM cockpit TK, Thirdwire -for SF/SF2 series Mods and good folks at CombatAce Me- cockpit mesh, textures, cockpit inis, avionics tweaks etc Click here to download this file

Yak-28B cockpit
Stary replied to Stary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
hopefully more to come in the more or less near future also, given the scarce resources I had access to, some parts are "close enough" but that shouldn't be an issue given it's not the most popular Cold War plane around -
OK, any more details WHAT it is? I suppose HD and possibly 24bit colour textures and models but as a EAW fan I'd really liek to see more info plus some screenshots

hmm let's play here: 1. When would this aircraft have come into existence? project phase around 1947/1948, testflight 1948, in service since 1950 to around 1965-1970 2. Why was it made? As the numbers of soviet tank battalions in Eastern Germany rise to power, higher ordnance-capacity requirements cause the redesign of proven Meteor in this shape 3. Who would have made it? Doh, Brits! Namely Gloster Aircraft Company 4. What would be its official designation/name? "Gloster Firestreak FB.2" 5. And what would be its unofficial, but cooler, name? "Gravedigger" -

ahh Meteor... then A-10 followed by the better Khan* I think I might be getting this slowly FC is this possibly anyhow related to that cool A-10 -styled what-if Meteor mockup with engines in the rear of fuselage I've seen floating around Facebook few days ago? That was a cool design for sure *go back to your caves 1960s cavefolks, it's XXI century Star Trek and acting we're refering to here -
what ever happened to the Italy Terrain ?
Stary replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
but it worked for Falcon 4.0 mod like Red Viper or Open Falcon, can't recollect, so if we settle on single existing tileset without the need to introduce tons of new tiles and terrain types, this is still doable I think? On the other hand if terrain gurus liek Baltika and Brain32 had issues that made the mstop working on this area, I might be completely wrong here -
watching I got the impression that was an almost certain ricochet angle when Tiger hit the logs, popping them off from the hull

hmmm I see something near the wing/fuselage, some kind of protrusion..? yyy... the wings seem to look as moved back a bit? Dunno man hard to say with this resolution and angle -
it's a good movie, of course weak in some aspects (those forementioned Paks with lower accuracy than speeding Tiger!) and excellent in others acting- and suspense-wise (visit in the town PLUS how this particular subplot ends) but overall -when was the last time we had good tank crew-oriented movie? Israeli "Lebanon"? Ohh that one was powerful too. As Fury goes I really like how Pitt evolved as an actor, he played very good, so did Shia as Bible IMO. And Shane from Walking Dead guy, forgot his name. There are some brilliant scenes and ideas there, as I watched this with my dad I said to him at certain point they should put one dead German "there" for effect (those who watched know what I refer to) and so they did, but why ohh why one key part goes from late afternoon to night in span of several minutes?? My cousin was making fun the battles look like they're firing lasers at each others, had to point him to several real war clips to convince him the tracers more or less look that way, I think left him unconvinced. Overall very good war movie for me, a bit old school as far as general story arc goes but done with XXI way of portraing war.

Stary replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - World War II Forum
isn't that the one Brain32 was working on like years ago? From Alps downwards including Balkans? Last time I've seen posts about it he said it was too complicated tileset wise, Brain32 said there was like 900 tiles to make it look right IF my memory serves me well -
