So..P4 is NOT an addon

I'd love being able to run a replay of your last flight -much like the trks in IL2 etc. -
Question about TrackIR
Fortiesboy replied to Rugbyfan1972's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Trackir is essential for flight sims, IMHO. I don't fly without it. Be careful if you are thinking of buying used. Trackirs exist from trackir 1 thru to trackir 5, ONLY trackir 3 Pro with vector expansion, or trackir 4 or trackir 5 will work with CFS3 and therefore OFF. To remove any doubt , best buy new. RC simulations is a good retailer. -
Anyone know about projectors and 1080pHD
Fortiesboy posted a topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hi I presently use an XGA projector which creates a 137cm x 80 cm image with a throw of 210 cm. It is used in a darkened room ( the window blind is the screen ) . I play flight sims - OFF, FSX STrikefighters, and IL2 mainly. Now that graphics cards can support 19xx etc resolutions ( I understand my nVidia GTX does ) I was thinking of upgrading to a 1080p Native resolution projector. I was concerned that I would not be able to connect the output (DVI?) of the graphics card to the HDMI input of the projector. I think now that I can do that via an adaptor- without loss of signal quality? I have found some projectors which i think would be suitable http://www.projectors.co.uk/search.asp?searchbox2=1080p%20Full%20HD&templateid=175 However, what puzzles me a little is that there are XGA etc ( much, much lower resolution projectors, like the one I have ) still selling for more than those above. How come? Is there a downside in using these 1080p native resolution projectors with computers for flight sims, ( as opposed to using them for films? ) Is anyone here expert enough to give firm advice. It would be much appreciated. TIA I live in the UK -
I made a 1080p video showing three screen action
Fortiesboy replied to appraiserfl's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Well, it must be me! But whenever i have seen three screen sims at flightsim shows, or the one at my mates house, or this video- I'm afraid it is distortion and two great vertical bars that really puts me off the whole concept. Not my idea of immersion-sorry! I would certainly prefer my projector screen and even a single large monitor. Just my tuppence worth! -
I do think it a fair question to ask if Phase 4 is shortly due or still a long way off. If I had phase 2 and now bought phase 3 et al, and then found phase 4 out in 3 months time or less, I would be a little miffed.! Certainly the question, as to whether Phase 4 will be a complete stand alone sim , or whether an add on to phase 3 can bought to bring it to phase 4, is worthy of a definite answer from the devs.

How to mod a couple of things please
Fortiesboy posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
In single missions, WOE series 1. 1. on the Planning map screen, you can drag and drop and thus change the places of the waypoints. Is there a way of changing the heights of where the plane should be on these waypoints- which is what Auto pilot uses-? IOW, can I say change so that auto pilot to fly at 20000ft? 2 On the loading screen , when I load my ordnance, is there a quick way of loading all my flight the same, or does it have to be done with each individual plane? I've searched many places including KB but cannot find info. TIA -

Instal planes at WoE
Fortiesboy replied to GripenLover's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Gents - thanks for the replies. I have found the answer - not in the KB!- I knew I had followed the instructions correctly, so i went back to basics in desperation. I re- downloaded the file and found that the JAS39C folder must have been corrupted. The one i freshly downloaded had more content than the one i was using. When I installed the latest one - Voila! I am now flying the Gripen! Now i need to search to find how to navigate it using the instruments as opposed to the white triangle, i.e how to find the waypoint ( I can do it in the phantom ) and what the symbols in the bottom right of the HUD mean etc. AA and R etc . Thanks again. EDIT; I did a search for "navigate Gripen" The only result was this thread ! Does anyone know where i can find out how to use the cockpit of the gripen to navigate, please TIA -
Instal planes at WoE
Fortiesboy replied to GripenLover's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Gentlemen - i have difficulty installing this gripen. This is the readme bit "Installation insctructions: Just install the aircraft into your objects/aircraft folder." The folder which I understand that you put in the aircraft folder is named JAS39C. That is what I put in the aircraft folder . It shows up in the aircraft folder. The plane does not show up in the selection menu. It does not show up in the Objectdata.Cat- there are many lines for the other aircraft, but no reference at all for JAS39C or gripen In the download when unzipped, there is a Gripen folder- this contains a Gripen_final folder- this contains a gripen folder and the readme, and the weaponsdata txt and gundata txt files. Opening the gripen folder reveals the JAS39C, and a sounds folder and a weapons folder. I did as the readme re the weapons and the sounds and, as i say above, I put the JAS39C in the aircraft folder. But- no aircraft in the selection menu. Is there something I missed or is there a fix or is it a series 2 aircraft only. The readme says it was tested in WOE ok by USAFMTL Please help. -
JAS-39C for SF2 fuel related problem
Fortiesboy replied to SFP1Ace's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
May I ask some help of you experts out there please :) I am running WOE series 1. I have been looking for a ground weapons -use of- guide, and someone kindly pointed me to the one by Ericj. It looks exactly what i need with a step by step -with pictures lol- examples. It uses the JAS39C Gripen and so i tried to load that plane into my install. I learned the adding weapons stuff etc - took me all morning 'cos my weapons editor didn't work , but I got all that straightened, but then the plane doesn't show in the single mission screen. Now it seems it might be a series 2 only plane, 'cos i can't find it in the series 1 downloads.? Or I might have made a mistake - more than likely - adding the plane to my install. Can anyone tell me if it will work on WOE series 1, and if so, anything special to look for in loading it. TIA -
I notice too that your processor is a Quad core. This sim uses one core. Do a search re cores in this sim because i'm prretty sure there is something to tweak to get your processor running faster. Perhaps someone else who knows better what i am referring to will post to help you with this

Hey Simon- Indeed, touching. I know we moan about modern technology sometimes, but it can make wonderful things happen that otherwise wouldn't! -
tutorials for sf2? How to take off, etc.
Fortiesboy replied to feldwebel's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Well Fubar, so it might be- but there is a hell of a lot of looking i have done just coming almost fresh to WoE, but some is very hard to find. OTOH, asking a specific Q is found to be more helpful IMHO. E.g. Your answer here as to where to find tutorials on dogfighting, bombing and radar in A2A has no doubt saved a whole lot of searching by feldwelbel and snypes, which may not have been successful. So, there is a case for a noobie asking a specific question which one at least of the many experts in the game can answer. I have asked some Qs, I'd like to ask others, but I am somewhat reluctant to when the answer is likely to be " look in the forums" etc. I have seen so many of those. I am looking for ground attack tutorials so i searched "strike tutorials" ( which found me this thread ) but I haven't found the ground ones.if there are any. It does seem the best chance of a specific answer is the kindness of those, who know, answering the question I'm not trying to be awkward about this, but I am so aware that I could do so much more with this sim if I knew how to- What is the nature of the weapons in the load list- which should be used for what? Best loads for which missions? How best to use the weapons for which targets together with the radar etc etc. The Falcon 4 manual was brilliant at this, and if similar tutorials exist out there for SF, then prominent pointers to them would be great. Some say this is a fun sim and not deep enough. I don't agree. I find it hard to play this sim on hard settings and win, even sometimes. It is immersive for me and i know it can be very immersive if i can readily learn a lot of what this sim can do. I do envy you chaps that have "cracked " it-lol -
Rudder sensitivity - can it be changed?
Fortiesboy posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hello i find my rudder pedals are too sensitive. Is there any way I can give them a bigger dead spot or make them less sensitive using an ini file or something. I cannot do it from the controls software because of the make of the rudder pedals, but i wondered if there was an ini file i could amend to reduce sensitivity TIA -
Rudder sensitivity - can it be changed?

Further to the above - i found the ini and changed some values for the yaw axis which I think has made the rudder a lot easier Thank you very much -

Couple of effects editing questions...
Fortiesboy replied to malibu43's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Hmm- Thanks for telling me the effects folder ie relevant but the download is a txt file, which i then renamed to a ini file and THEN put it in the effects folder. Brevity can sometimes confuse!. I flew a flight in 1985 and had Sams which were not easy to see but I understand that may how it should be for that year. Is that right? If not, and i should see a smoke trail, then I don't see one so maybe I'm doing something wrong? -
Sorry but it was not a good game even. Any game which has such an inept team cannot be a great game. A great game is when the two teams both play well. England were utter rubbish!. The whole tournament they have been rubbish. I don't think they are fit, even. I don't mean fit as in carrying an injury, i mean fit as in stamina. I watched at the end particularly and several players seemed to be bigger around the hips area than a fit man of such age and size would have been. Then we have this one-footedness. Who, apart from Rooney and Carrick can kick a ball with both feet? I'm old enough to remember Di Stefano of Real Madrid. Although he was a good centre forward his main claim to fame was that he could only kick with his right foot! That's how rare it was in that era for top footballers to be able to use only one foot to kick the ball!. As for tactics, England always play like they are on the training pitch- kicking the ball sideways and backwards most of the time. Possession football they say,! Possession my Arse.! What benefit is that if after eight passes within your OWN Half you then lose it!- As I saw today. Sack the manager - too stubborn to change tactic as necessary. Put in a motivator - English like Harry Redknapp - and make sure they go out playing forward!!.

How to save missions?
Fortiesboy posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Hello - trying to come up to speed with the sim. I have WOE and in the manual it says i can save single missions in order to load them later to play. I cannot find how to do this. There is no option on the Debrief screen. I have tried to research this but found no answer. Can someone assist please. TIA -
How to save missions?
Fortiesboy replied to Fortiesboy's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
my apologies! it seems the manual refers only to saving campaigns. And I saw a post about saving missions, which I now understand, is talking about Series 2. Seems I'll have to wait for a new computer with Win7 ( I use XP ) before I can experience the joys of series 2 stuff in its full glory- Or have i got that wrong also? Hopefully I have and if so where do i find out how to use XP for series 2 if it's possible. If XP can run series 2 , I'd only want to change from series 1 if all the full benefits of series 2, especially graphics, could be obtained. Some of the screenies I've seen do look very good. thanks again for clearing this up for me. -
