  1. Now I remember why I assumed the F9F-5 Panther had wing tanks: It's obvious, isn't it? The Panther pack contained a TankPanther file that you had to put in the weapons folder. So naturally I thought: these must fit on the Panther. I also wondered which racks the tanks would fit on, because I use a loadout card on a kneepad, so I can remember what I'm carrying, and I like to make sure the graphic puts the correct stores on the correct racks. So I searched on the internet for F9F-5 wing tanks, and arrived here: http://www.airvectors.net/avf9f.html And there's this lovely graphic of the wing tanks on the inboard rack which the text says was "wet" for drop tank usage. Trouble was, I hadn't noticed we had skipped to the F9F-2, and I should have been looking at the F9F-5. Numbers never were my strong point. I thought you'd find that funny.
  2. Gentlemen, thank you all. Geary: I haven't used the photo panther, but I believe your specific station method will work, and I will give it a whirl and let you know. Wrench: I must have got misled by Wikipedia or something. They usually list all the variants of an aircraft, and then at the bottom give stores carriage. So they probably stated two drop tanks, but omitted to say that it was for the P only. I will try and find the source that misled me, so that I can be more specific.
  3. It appears that, in the old data file, the [LeftStab] and [RightStab] were connected to the ParentComponentName=Vert Tail. Your new Data file Connects them as ParentComponentName=Tail , and that has fixed the annoying nose up effect once off deck. Your new skins look really spiffy, and you've added a great pilot skin. I can't get the TankPanther to appear in the weapons loadout screen. It turns out I already had an old TankPanther folder, so I deleted it and put yours in. I checked in the Weapons file, and it wasn't listed so I added it at the end, and then opened the Weapons Editor, noted it was there, and then saved it. But it is not available to me in the loadout screen. I'm assuming this is an additional droppable tank to supplement the fixed wingtip tanks. Thanks for drawing attention to the folding wings. And thanks for all your great work.
  4. Many, many thanks for this pack. I have the original F9F-5 in the Korean War Pack, and it exhibits seriously bad behaviour when taking off from carriers. As soon as the wheels are off deck, it pitches up at about 80 degrees, and you have to push the nose down to get it to a sensible attitude. I have spent most of this afternoon working through the data file failing to find what is causing the problem. So tonight, I come on here, and note that you include the aircraft along with your skins. We call that serendipitous. So I stole your Panther data file, put it in my current aircraft, and: massive success - the nose-up has been fixed!!! Now the aircraft launches from the carrier in what one would expect to be the correct attitude. I shall spend tomorrow comparing the files to see what is different. Thanks again.
  5. Report post I put in a search for Campaign Building, and found this response to a query which asked about tutorials for Campaign Building. Unfortunately the link doesn't work. Any idea where it might be? Thanks Posted March 4, 2011 http://combatace.com/forum/193-creatingmodding-campaigns/ Bunyap's guide covers all the essentials.
  6. Bunyap appears to have been making DCS instructional videos and releasing them to YouTube. I guested on the SimHQ forum, DCS section, and found a lot of messages from different members asking things of Bunyap, and then asking how he was. There were no replies. I thought I should mention this. So I'll leave it at that. Thanks for your help.
  7. Best fly it in SFG if you want Carrier Campaigns. Works a treat. Well, works for me anyway.
  8. Thanks I've fixed all that now. I know how to swap aircraft carriers in and out of campaigns, and swap aircraft and squadrons in and out. So I'm flying an F9F-8 Cougar off the SCB-125 in Korea, which I wanted to do. Not historically accurate, but tremendous fun.
  9. Thanks, I got it. Problem was that I wanted to try it in the SFG Korean Campaign. But the SCB-125 folder just has textures, no data or other stuff that is essential to get a carrier working properly. I realised this when I swapped out the Philipine 47 and replaced it with the Bulwark - everything worked. Then I replaced the Bulwark with SCB-125 and my aircraft is floating on water. So I used the Cat file extractor on the ground objects cat but couldn't find anything to do with SCB-125. Then I had a peek in the WOV and WOE cats, and there were the files, tumbling out like coins from a jackpot. So much still to learn!
  10. The textures are very nice, but the SCB-125 as it appears in SFG, WOV, WOE does not have the requisite data files to make it operable as an aircraft carrier. I only found that out after trying every computation of carrier placement in the Korea Campaign, and finally realised the SCB itself was the problem, even before I added your hi-res files. How did you get the SCB-125 data files? Thanks
  11. This may be heretical, but if I fly the Sea Fury, then IL-2 is the best platform. And I loved flying the Sea Fury off carriers.
  12. Thanks for the heads up on this. I will investigate
  13. I have done a net search for Bunyap stuff, and a lot of it pointed back here with people complaining that the links didn't work any more. Ironically one thread went through several people offering links to where his weapons guide resided, all of which were bust. Finally some smug bitch told them where it was hidden, and that smug bitch turned out to be me. So, I would make an assumption that Bunyap has moved on and his work has not been successfully archived anywhere. Apart from the Weapons Guide. Thanks for your offer of searching.
  14. It's an offsite link? Now I understand. Thank you for your help
  15. Oh I see now where confusion arises. I hadn't made it plain enough. The link actively takes you to a page concerning Campaigns. But the link does not take you to a page containing "Bunyap's guide" as the original post suggested I was hoping to find Bunyap's guide, and since it isn't where the link sends me, I was hoping someone would point me to where it now resides. The Strategic nodes section is not by Bunyap, so I don't think the original post referred to that. Dave's contribution regarding adding Airforces isn't Bunyap's guide either. And it has a lot of strike-out sections, so I wonder if something has gone wrong there. But it's okay, because I know how to add aircraft to existing Campaigns. I'd just like to make a Campaign for the Mediterranean scenery, and was hoping for a tutorial to cover all the essentials. Sorry about the confusion.

  17. I've downloaded some modern Russian aircraft like the Sukhoi 30, MiG-35, in order to have something to kill when I'm flying the F-35 in year 2000. When I test flew the Russian planes, all the weapon hardpoints were empty. So I opened the Loadout file to check if I had the weapons that they were supposed to carry. In each case the specified weapon had a different designation to its counterpart in the Weapon folder. So I altered the weapon loadout to match the names in the weapon folder and managed to get some weapons loaded, mainly Aphids and Atolls, which are still available in 2000. Then I went on an intercept mission, and whilst the MiG-21s were all tooled up, the MiG-35s were flying empty. Seems I'm missing something here. Is there some new Russian Weapon pack I should know about? Thank you
  18. Metres???? Damn Europeans.
  19. Yes, I had a great trip visiting Northumberland castles. Thank you. I think I stole the LevelBombAI from a B-52 and modded accordingly. Very few aircraft have this entry. It would be nice to know what other entries one could add, or is it just those three, plus my fourth? Are you saying that you have a ReleaseAlt of 11000, and yet they bomb at 30,000? Is that because you were flying at 30,000, so they release at your altitude? That was my experience. Which somewhat makes the ReleaseAlt figure redundant. Release Count must relate to how many bombs the aircraft carries, so for the F-117 that's just 2. I'm not sure how the ReleaseInterval figure of 0.1 relates to the Intervalometer figures. They are something like 60ms, 100ms, 160 ms. Presumably 0,1 could be 100ms; so 60ms would be 0.06. I used 0.0001 because on the F-117 they should be simultaneous, but I daren't put 0.0000 in case something funny happened. Any thoughts on ReleaseRange? For me it seemed to work. They clearly followed that figure, because I didn't bother bombing and let the wingman do it. The release basket for the GBU is quite slim, and yet he hit the bullseye.
  20. So, is there a way to get a digital fuel quantity readout on the HUD?
  21. Yubba: This is the entry I placed in the F-117 Data File: [LevelBombAI] ReleaseAlt=10000 ReleaseCount=2 ReleaseInterval=0.0001 ReleaseRange=34320 I started the mission and put us in formation at 15,000 ft I then ordered my wingman to hit my target. He stayed at 15,000 ft level flight, and then at the correct point he released and hit the target I assumed the release range was also in feet, so I put the figure of 34320, which is 6.5 miles, just past the point at which the GBU sensor is in range, and is the distance that I would release at. I also ordered the flight to engage ground, and the other two aircraft stayed at 15,000 and released their GBUs. So I guess that's a success story. I shall probably fly more F-117 missions now. Thanks for your advice. The AircraftRole for the F-117 is ATTACK. I changed it to BOMBER, and all that does is give you lots more planes in your mission. So I changed it back. That's actually why I changed the B-1B AircraftRole to ATTACK, just to keep the numbers down to sensible levels.
  22. Thanks, Yubba. I'll go seek the dive-bomb fix. Sorry for late reply, but I've been away.
  23. UllyB, Logan: Yes, thank you. Success. Sorted. The AA-12 in the Weapon folder says StationSpecificCode=AA12 So I copied the entry and added it into the SU37 data file for weapon stations 5 to 8. i.e:StationSpecificCode=AA12 I checked that the loadout file had AA-12 marked for stations 5 to 8. I went into the Sim, chose the SU-37 and there in the Loadout the AA-12 was now available. In an intercept mission the AA-12 is autoloaded for you; in a strike mission, the weapon is available should you choose to load it on those stations. Brilliant. I shall make full use of this knowledge. Thank you.
