  1. Good to read

Perhaps his system was already infected, IDK. I'm not expert to these types of things. Or perhaps one of the advertisements was infected when he clicked to download.??
  2. The early systems included windows disk and they worked on any computer, then like within a short time I remember systems coming with windows disks / restore disks just for the given system. ME uses 32 bit virtual device drivers for some of the hardware. VXD's I think was the extension. I know my sound card eventually got VXD drivers and it worked well in Win98 and WinME. Anyhow thats what ME was about, getting the manufactures ready for the next windows release. So long ago so I can be wrong about this. I'd try the new emulaors out there, or the win95 app for win10 i just learned about. IDK how good any of this will be......
  3. Wrong forum, a computer / hardware forum would be better to get a good response. But tail end of winxp wont have support for win95/98 os , like software and drivers for chipsets and hardware peices. Alot of people have winxp, for xp games not win95 games.
  4. I'm still working on the 3DZ Modeling Help Doc I have made much progress, however I have not received much recent help besides a bunch from EAWPRO developer , VBH. All other information is coming from old threads and old web sites. I do have some notes and small tutorials but none of the ones listed above. I will only get so far with the help doc and then I will eventually need to get more info or questions answered before the rewritten edited text will possibly come to a halt. I'm eager to complete this document as it will help new modelers or hopefully existing ones as well.
  5. Good to read

Yeah, I didnt want to mention he needed help as I read in the SimHQ forum. I was concerned it would have been seen as an attack on 160, but wouldn't have been, and is not now. Everyone almost have issues with EAW it seems when they first get going. The fault lyes in the original code and windows os issues primarily , and other subtle file management issues by users. Your welcome BTW.
  6. Good to read

okay. Well UAW 160 is a good game... Thats praise from me again.
  7. Good to read

Not sure why you made a new thread to post something like this. Unless your maybe concerned still and unclear what I personaly have said about the recent (and old) feedback meant to be helpful. I and a few others use to praise the UAW work, but never got a thank you or similer thought in return. So I turned to just giving feedback as an un-emotional helpful information. (buts its takenmost the time in a misguide way). Then I relized there was something else wrong with the way people behave in this community (in partial the codegroup) and refrained from much praise at all. I have praised VBHs work as well, but have refrained from doing so too often in recent times. Not for the same reason though as I know he knows I mean well, even if I sound concerned myself about a change. Why did I bother posting this? IDK, not much else going on in the forums at the moment. But its definatly something to think about when it comes to people's thoughtful feelings. Most people that have posted without praise still mean it, they are just too ocupied at getting EAW working in the first place (a universal problem) and then when they do they enjoy it I would like to think.
  8. Filling up those ''ugly' terrain tiles

I see the ledges around the building, that must have made it harder to make. Anyway good going. To bad it takes so long given the current tools used for the last 15 years or more are the same.
  9. 160 and Support?

I think you just place the 7z files into the main game folder and unzipp, let it over write by confirming yes to some of them. If your not paying atttention to what your doing you can mess up. Jel can't really provide a single 7z I don't think, either too large or portions get updated from time to time. I forget why. I use to wait for the single standalones myself before downloading anything. Alright well hope you figure it out.
  10. 160 and Support?

uh? the eaw.ini file, delete it. EAW will rebuild it when run, then set up a single mission and fly it.
  11. 160 and Support?

No evidence shown to you, no. The fact is there are more visitors than there are participating users posting. Maybe that statement will help you figure the math. I been around helping people long enough with this project and others and I know the math myself, I just didn't know you want to challenge everything I say, and make it problematic.
  12. 160 and Support?

There are no others willing to post, its normally the unknown users that has the problems and the users that try to help, Like RIBob and me are attacked out of fear or fragility. I hope people can enjoy the Dummy 160 frontend. I'll eventually get there myself after I figure out my other project for my eaw help site. RIBob, The first thing I do is instant mission, 160 needs to include some, but probabaly can't depending on the selections made in the external frontend. But anyways I delete all eaw.ini's and then run the game directly through the eaw.exe. then ill quite and go back to the frontend. Should work after that.
  13. 160 and Support?

That is to be expected. The sooner improvement (if any) are done, the less negative feedback you'll tend to get. Newbie's will then see the postive feedback perhaps and carry on. and those post are made because people have issues with the frontend, if its not clear to you now, I don't know what to say about the issue anymore. But like I say, if theres no improvement then theres no reason for me or some others to use the frontend. For me it was the intial use and then the returning to it after not using it awhile. It has a learning curse, and you have to get the details fixed in your head, if you away from it those details vanish after awhile. If the details where always present the newbies and the in frequentant users wouldnt have an issue. Carry on Jel, I'd work with you if I could ,but I don't program and don't have the time to invest in it more than I have provided with my feedback posts above and in the past.
  14. Milestone

Wow thats a jump since last I was told by you of how many bytes and all. Happy Anniversary. :)
  15. 160 and Support?

Its the single line naming description I belive that is the problem. IDK I know if you had descriptions it would be better. But by how much is the question. But I don't know what to do other than have a proper in game frontend, personelly thats my belief. Which can't happen at this point, i know that. You may have pushed away RIBob, he had more to say I'm sure, not sure he'll say anything new now, given the prevouse few post here and at SimHQ.
  16. EAWHS Files Section Updated

Attention, the old post about 160 and install/frontend support where moved into there own thread. RIBob, I think I have all the files needed now thank you. I may ask you to review my 3dZ help doc in the future.
  17. I managed over two or three days and nights to clean up the TOOLS section of the files I host on mediafire, and actualy provided file information for all the files on my help site. I know its not a big deal , but it was alot of work. I found some information I didnt know about and tools I wasnt sure about. I condensed some of the downloads too. The tool section is also part of the Reference, Editing, and Manager sections. The manager section I did only for the sake of doing it as most of those programs are too old for modern computers, unless you can get them running. I guess there was the original 3dzStudio program in dos, and a last beta version with a pascal source code. I don't have the source code for the Windows port of the 3DZ!Studio from Gurney or WB. I would like it as that program can stand to be improved. I did happen to find WBs three updates he made, as far a 2011 he was working on it for GUNSHIP!. Anyway alot of work, and the tool section still needs some consolidating of archives. The rest of the files do too, like all the add-ons but I doubt I'll fully get them done with a bit of help from someone that knows more about these files than I do. But that person hasn't stepped forward yet. Theres just so many directions i can go with me Help Site, and it occupys my time well enough when I can sit still long enough in front of my Computer. :) But The files do need work, but I can only move so fast without the volenteer help or knowledge needed. And the EAW enthusiast are sparse. okay, well thats what I been doing.
  18. 160 and Support?

I can also say, whom ever is happy with 160's external frontend, and have come a custom to it, and use it often and therefore remember the details you discover but not provided, then by all means I suggest you use and fly 160. I personally think all the work done on EAW is fantastic, and should continue, I even attempted to help those interested in the CodeGroups packaged version with a help document decribing the features of that version. However I have only so much time and the support was nearly non existent for new users, and to me, so I moved on to supporting EAW and EAWPRO more often as I get feedback and support from those people involved. Jel has an install tutorial at SimHQ for 160, I think it was revised to fix some errors in it, but the point is, installing it is not the real issue.
  19. 160 and Support?

I didn't write that quote, but I agree to it. Usually for every feedback that you get you should count more people are having the same issues. You guys must learn to take feedback as a good thing, even if you disagree with it. Thats how you improve something, In the case your frontend needs improvement, it needs details descriptions and the images you also can't provide. I said at least three times over the years I was having problems with it, to no avail, I try to help with feedback , but you codegroup fellas get all wound up for no reason. My suggestion to RIBob and others if your having issues with the frontend is to forget 160 and the like and move onto the more effective in game frontends within EAWs. 1.2 or EAWPRO or any hexedited ones. I have moved on myself, however if I feel I have enough energy in the end of the day, I may tackle the external frontend from time to time. You see 140 was so so for difficulty, but the single line descriptions in each category just is not enough to keep me a happy flyer.
  20. 160 and Support?

I understand Jel. But Did I say something about having to install it is difficult? If I did the only thing I can think of is that adding all the 7z zips was a bit time consuming. I do remember That there was a problem with the first two 7z needing a third to get it to run, but the instructions didn't say so. But as far as complaining that its hard to install, I just don't remember saying that. I know I mentioned the difficulty of the frontend for me returning to it over a period of time, and a friend didnt like it either. Could you link the SimHQ or CombatACE thread where I mentioned the install process was difficult so I can properly respond?
  21. 160 and Support?

okay, I love you to Rotton.
  22. 160 and Support?

Aw man, Rotton's punishing me (everyone) from getting a proper and new help doc. Because he thinks there is mis information with something to do with 160, when in fact I am informing them (and others) of the issues at hand to help. See, because you Rotton don't want to address them for what they are, doesn't mean its mis information, when in fact its helpful info for everyone. Look, you haven't help me since I been here 5 years ago or whatever, but what is my mistake is I keep having hope for you. I put that on my self. Its simple, I tried to show you your ways a few years ago and now even when the SimHQ moderator trys to help you understand things in recent times, you just don't get it either from him and consider it as an attack on you, when no one is attacking you really at all. lol So you come over here, which is fine, but isn't this neighborhood a little out of your way. I'd love to have a helpful you, but your not helpful in any fashion. and you mucked up my thread too, I'm not happy with that. :D
  23. EAWHS Files Section Updated

I been all over the place for files through the past 4 or 5 years. I'm just now trying to locate some 3DZ Tutorial Docs, but no body is coming through, even the people you think that would have them, are not stepping up. Check my post I think here at CombatACE, I posted something about the guides I'm looking for under EAW modding forum.
  24. If no one can provide details, can someone provide these tutorials: These should help me out alot in learning. -Shreck's 3dz Studio tutorial -Chompy's RS tutorial -Gurney's RS (BSP) Tutorial -RS pseudocode from MPS developer -Moggy's manual RS adjustment method -Crashin' Jack's 3dz tutorial Thank You in advance.
  25. EAWHS Files Section Updated

I cross reference files with web site info when i could. I have info on files that I don't actually have yet or ever. Anyhow, I found most of the popular web sites that remain within a decade after EAW was released. only cover a tiny fraction of what was really available over the years. What does that mean. It means there where no web site links or info on the files, perhaps maybe they where linked in a forum or passed around. Many don't include original archives or readmes. Making things even harder to distinguish. Anyhow. no work on the files in about a week. I usually work on them when i feel I can spend a good amount of time working with them.
