I think thirdwire fans should see this for DCS
Julhelm replied to Stary's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
What kind of bothers me is that the DCS audience might not be very interested in anything that isn't 'modern fast-mover'. I'd be inclined to port over my Model 200A VSTOL jet along with a sea control ship. -

Hey Spinners, have you given thought at doing up a Tu-95 in SAC markings as a stand-in Douglas 1211J? -

I find the Secret Projects books to be entertaining for the sheer volume of oddball designs featured in them. Once I get a fulltime job I'm going to order a truckload of new books. -

There is a whole chapter devoted to F-108 in American Secret Projects: Fighters & Interceptors 1945-1978 You'd do well to pick that up as well as the companion volume on bombers. -

Make it the original delta canard variant without the ventral fins. -

Yes but you still have smoothing errors because you have awful kinks and bends in your mesh flow. Make sure the edges flow properly like they would on the real airframe and as I've drawn in blue below: -

I always used to get 75% duds firing AIM-7's. That is, missile fails to guide and explodes after 5 seconds. -

AFAIK the MANX had the 2D vectoring exhausts from the ACTIVE, LO treatment (chines) and internal bays. -

Harold, have you thought about doing the F-15 MANX? -
SAAB Viggen Emergency Landing Video
Julhelm replied to JonathanRL's topic in Military and General Aviation
Well our model was built around the idea that in any hot war the Soviets would surely be tacti-nuking our airbases as a prelude to invasion, and as such it makes sense to disperse. -

Oh look, Rhuzio (sp?) is back and trolling my thread on TW boards. Or some other troll whiteknighting for TK. -

SAAB Viggen Emergency Landing Video
Julhelm replied to JonathanRL's topic in Military and General Aviation
It's the complete opposite of the US Air Force's policy of assuming there will always be a 9000ft runway for them to operate from. -

Like I said. Nolimitsoya = POTUS. Occam's razor says there can be no other credible explanation. And that would mean I just called POTUS a toiletclogging troglodyte. Good times. -

Those textures are for one of the earlier iterations of the cockpit which unfortunately was on my external HDD that died. I think the alternative data ini has fixed canards, don't remember. No idea why the RWR doesn't work. Never noticed it... -

Maybe Nolimitsoya is Obama and TK is afraid of being sent to Gitmo if he doesn't do as he says. -

But Dan, can you explain why he's so against doing interviews or other publicity? I remember tipping off RPS which is a huge blog but apparently he wouldn't give them the time a day. It doesn't make sense to me. I'd want all the exposure I could get. -
Cloud cast shadows ?
Julhelm replied to squid's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
It's because he uses those s**tty raytraced shadows and not shadow maps like everybody else does. -
The worst leeches are the fly-by-night "entrepreneurs" who only take new hires on as "interns" because then they get paid by the govt and doesn't have to pay salaries, essentially gaming the system while systematically shafting unemployed people.

Julhelm replied to ST0RM's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
You got it wrong though. "Player weapons" = Air to air missiles. The last patch made the campaign easier by nerfing the SAM's, and as a result broke all the missiles. So this latest patch just separates the code so that AAM's are separate. -

Julhelm replied to ST0RM's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Wags himself has posted on the ED boards that they neither expect nor want all 3rd party DCS modules to be DCS: A-10C level-of-fidelity. At least there is the possibility to custom-build systems such as LABS or IRSTs- something that's never been possible with TK's games. -

I agree with Storm and Streak. DCS is where it's going to be at. -
File Name: CVN Ulyanovsk File Submitter: Julhelm File Submitted: 30 January 2012 File Updated: 30 January 2012 File Category: SF2 Series Add On Objects CVN Ulyanovsk v1.0 for SF2 This is the cancelled Soviet nuclear carrier Ulyanovsk as it would have appeared had it been finished. Works fine in campaigns. Uses a few big textures. If your computer can handle Ravenclaw's Buccaneer it can probably handle this. Oh, and planes will generally launch through the skijump unless you use plenty of flaps. I tried having them launch diagonally but tbh either way looks as dumb. If you absolutely cannot live with it change the catapult ID's in the .ini. Known Issues: None that I know of. Credits: Model & textures by me except a few bits that were borrowed from TW CV-63 carrier. These are: Catapult rails, deck trucks, railings and deck underside. Custom FX and ini work by Fubar512 Disclaimer: You MAY NOT use any part of this package in any payware package or otherwise take credit for it without first consulting me.
