  1. Really really really nice! I think you could fit the stock desert campaign roughly around where Tunisia/Libya is.
  2. What about purchasing some mothballed A-7's from Davis-Monthan?
  3. I beg to differ. Rowan managed to model both the F-4 radar and fully functional A-6 DIANE avionics back in 1991's Flight of the Intruder and in the case of the F-4 radar is exactly the same appearance as in SF2 except FOTI doesn't have ground map mode. The FOTI DIANE supported everything from laydown to manually set mil depression to divetoss. The thing is those early avionics were complex because you didn't have a lot of computing power and the actual computers were often based on vacuum tubes or very early hard-wired solid-state tech. But the actual avionics themselves are nothing more than glorified computers crunching numbers. All of which can be done easily on modern hardware.
  4. Jet Blue Captain snaps

    Reminds me of this:

  6. Both, actually. I also boosted the spec on everything to 100. Looks nice ingame when lighting moves a lot.
  7. I hate to be honest but that doesn't really remind me of Sweden a whole lot. This fall I used to fly like twice a month from Stockholm to Malmö and the fields are nowhere near as dense as you have them. Even down here in the south where there is the most fertile farmland, farms are very far between and as a result there are fewer but much larger fields. Popular crops being of course wheat and other grains, rapeseed and potatoes. Especially down here in the south they grow a lot of rapeseed, so lots of bright yellow fields which looks quite striking from the air. The further up north you go and and there are a lot of forest and rocky terrain.
  8. Looks like a perfect fit for that jet. I remember my dad building an F-15E that was in Euro camo too.
  9. Now that's how the game should look out of the box.
  10. The F-111B we have is more representative of the early prototype and not the preproduction aircraft that had the major deficiencies fixed like Triple Plow III intakes and the raised cockpit and longer radome.
  11. They can be modelled as one group of buildings per tile and mapped to an atlas texture. Then you only need a single coordinate per tile. Not really different from .tods except I can make collision boxes around blocks of buildings.
  12. Let's just say I have seen the proof and it isn't Veltro's favor. What are the chances that 2 models from totally different modellers have the exact same prop blades, are split in the exact same places, and have exactly the same incorrectly modelled nose gear, where the rims on your model have the exact same texture as his, but at lower res, or where the texture on your wing fold is exactly the same as his but lower res and reversed? :D
  13. There's supposed to be a lot of PVE content:
  14. Well I for one am eagerly anticipating War Thunder: World of Planes which is steadily shaping up to be everything that Storm of War promised to be, but with 10x the content, online dynamics campaigns, lots of battle areas all around the globe spanning the entire period of 1936-1953 (Yes, it will feature Korean theater as well). I hate to say it Streak, but you can probably wait forever for VRS Tacpac for FSX and it'll always have a diminuitive playerbase since FSX market is 80% civilian airliners. IMO the best chance we have of getting a proper Vietnam-era sim anytime soon is probably with Gaijin. It wouldn't surprise me if they're going in that direction now that they're doing Korean theatre.
  15. @Gerwin: Looking at Google Earth, Reykjavik and other towns seem small and sparse enough that if you made somewhat accurate city tiles for that, I could make groups of buildings to place on them that more closely matches the real look of the place. With collision of course.
  16. this weeks Ho Lee Crap moment

Well at least noone was killed.
  17. Still just uses a vertexshader. Technically it could be done on legacy terrain mesh (vertices are vertices) but only if you want kilometersized waves.
  18. Maybe you have some bugged install? Can you post a screenshot of how it looks?
  19. If that was the case then the stock stuff would always be more awesome than ours since proper tools = less effort/time needed. So I don't think he has any special tools. The few TW tools available are still only basic GUIs for easier inputting data into text files. Except TE, and we all know how user-friendly THAT was.
  20. Well all anyone ever really needed to make terrains look good was a decent tool for interactive target placement so you could put all these little details. But having to add things via textfiles as if it's 1992 is lame.
