  1. I agree with Dave. In fact the sim community as a whole seems to suffer from diminished expectations. We just rush out and buy any product because we're starved and get a bone thrown at us. Thats what makes us end up with SH5 and Cliffs of Dover.
  2. I'm sure that's what customers said when IL-2:Cliffs of Dover was released.
  3. It's kind of the same thing as a skybox. Basically you have an environment texture laid out in the shape of a cube and you then sample from it to reflect the sky and ground on your game objects. If you have dynamic day/night cycle you can also write-to-texture to the cubemap so that it updates on the fly. It's what FSX does with its reflections. It's more expensive but then SF2 was never intended to run on a PS3 with 256mb ram.
  4. Hey all I asked was why the canopy glass looked really bad in the F-14 pics. I suppose that makes it my fault for wanting simple cubemap reflections when TK inevitably pulls the plug on his business rather than the guys who seem to be expecting Fleet Defender 2-type features. Maybe if I complain about the stock SF2E terrain in the background of one of the pics TK will come and personally remove any and all copies of SF from your harddrives. Then we can really have a "bash Julhelm" party here.
  5. Nah, it'll stay open until the usual peanut gallery have taken turns bashing the big bad Julhelm.
  6. Because if you were clear and concise from the beginning with what the pics are supposed to show and not supposed to show then people won't have kneejerk reactions when they see the promised new sim doesn't have proper reflections or other shiny effects that are industry standard. Common business sense says you want to wow your audience with showing off the shiniest stuff you've got. But I guess it would make so much more sense business-wise for TK to "pull the plug" because his core fanbase wants bigger bones. Or something. LOL Fanboi comedy at its finest.
  7. Yeah it's easier to just leave than be upfront and communicating, like the Combat-Helo guys.
  8. Why not show off your newest product on the highest settings? Makes no sense.
  9. Canopies could use some love. Like cubemap reflections.
  10. Looking real cool. A feature I think would be neat is if we could make prefabs out of placed objects which can then be placed themselves in order to rapidly cut down on the amount of time it takes to place targets all over the map.
  11. Battlefield 3

You should. It really is a superlative experience when played online.
  12. Popular AVIATION movies you've watched and liked!

Off the top of my head: Iron Eagle 3 is awesome. WW2 warbirds fight druglords and there's even the ARES in there. SAC movie is awesome. Deadly Encounter with Larry Hagman (aka JR) is awesome if you are the least interested in helicopters. Blue Thunder is also one of the best helicopter movies. Aces High was also good, as is Airforce and The Hunters.
  13. RIP Yue Yue, little angel

I think it's due to urbanization. I grew up in the boonies, and used to reside in a small town, and people would say hello and chitchat and offer help if someone was in need, but as soon as I moved to the big city I was just another stranger among strangers.
  14. That's a really nice detail texture you have going there.
  15. Doesn't he have over 5000 followers on Facebook? That's quite a lot more than this site I'd wager.
  16. Really nice! Does it work with desert3?
  17. R.I.P. Marco Simoncelli

That is a nasty crash. You can see he's dead already when the helmet comes off.
  18. Version

F-19 Stealth Fighter aka "Flying Frisbee", "Wobbly Goblin" of 16-bit fame remade for SFP patch 3 and WoV. For further info read the included readme file /Jules
  19. Sorry, I've been up to my eyeballs in work lately getting BF3 ready for launch. I'll send the dude this weekend, promise.
  20. You can make them as .tga on a separate mesh and set them as reflection in the cockpit.ini.
  21. http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89682 Check his use of textures. 1 256x512 (Diffuse & Normal) for all this:
  22. That is quite impressive. For sure better than any of my attempts. However I have to say I prefer the slightly desaturated blue of that Mig-15 cockpit.
