You can use mine. It has normalmaps and s**t too.

It's starting to look decent but tbh I'd leave out the bevel effect on the diffuse texture and just let the normal and spec maps handle that. Also if you look at the very first photo you posted, the frames around your gauges are way too thick which makes the pit look kind of cartoony. It really helps there if you just make a quick highpoly of the frame and bake from that. It will look much better than trying to just use smoothing groups.

I thought it looked bad already when they released the first trailer. I also don't understand why they had to go with a boring real-world setting when the established canon is already awesome.

I think the F-15E pit is a better fit TBH. I still have my old A-12 wip pit somewhere. Might tinker with that.

I'd try and build a highpoly of the panels and stuff first and bake that down or at least bevel the edges so you get rid of the sharp edges everywhere.

I saw the Spit and the Mustang earlier this summer at the 100th anniversary show in Eslöv. They're owned by Biltema IIRC. That army-green Cub also has Eslöv as it's home field. I always thought you lived up here in the 08-area btw.
