  1. The UN...

He's obviously watched too much Alex Jones.
  2. ...to model the F-22 derivative radar used in the AFX and F-22. You do the ini work, I'll do the graphics. Any takers?
  3. See if this works - otherwise it's in my gallery Updated fm I've made for the new release version of this particular heli. No thrustvectoring is used here and the AI can handle it somewhat. Visual quirks I'm aware of: Blades spin wierdly Canopy texture looks fugly Looks twitchy because I fly with keyboard only since my joystick broke.
  4. Well the problem is that it isn't dynamic and when lightsources move around a lot it breaks the illusion.
  5. Janes Advanced Strike Fighters

My first real sim was ACE on the C-64, and that was about as realistic as these games. I too am happy to see a resurgence in the flight gengre. Also, Apache Air Assault is coming out, too.
  6. Janes Advanced Strike Fighters

Looks like a jet version of the same developers earlier Heroes over Pacific and Heroes over Europe games which precede HAWX by a few years. Arcade shooters all the way with no pretentions of realism at all.
  7. http://www.giantbomb.com/quick-look-tom-clancys-hawx-2/17-3014/ This video shows gameplay through a couple of missions. My impressions so far: Taxi/Take off No more 99 missiles (Well more like 30 it seems. Then again this isn't supposed to be Falcon 4). ---- Really looking forward to this.
  8. Don't Be this guy....

Newsflash: Fat wannabes always claim to be SF ubersoldiers. Movie at 11.

That's not entirely true, since most nuclear detonations are airbursts and disperse only a minor amount of fallout as compared to a groundburst like Castle Bravo. If the radiation was such an issue I'm sure people wouldn't have bothered rebuilding the cities. Chemical weapons on the other hand can contaminate an area for weeks and even months after use and unlike radiation their lethality doesn't decrease over time.
  10. You should definitely get around to updating them since they're heads and shoulders above the rest.
  11. The only advantage tga has over dds is that since it's uncompressed there are no artefacs in the image. However this advantage is completely negated by the fact that tga is about 4x the size of an equivalent dds texture. This is why games like COD usually have their normalmaps as 24-bit tga textures and everything else as dds.
  12. The UK Military to face large cuts...

Well that's what happens when you spend as if you were the US and you aren't.
  13. I have to say, the first game was a bit of a letdown but reading this it sounds as if the devs have actually taken on a lot of the criticisms leveled at the first game. I'm actually looking forward to this. http://news.filefront.com/h-a-w-x-2-details-here-woooo (Bolding mine) http://g4tv.com/games/xbox-360/63719/tom-clancys-hawx-2/articles/70884/HAWX-2-First-Look-Preview/
  14. It's because the map is set as self-illuminated and as the desert planning map is really bright the bloom overbrights it. Try darkening the planning map.
  15. Judge Rules Against Stolen Valor Act

Except he wasn't wearing a fake uniform and decorations, he was only claiming to have earned the medals. That is why the judge ruled the law unconstitutional: because it literally criminalizes any speech that is untrue according to the government. This case isn't about impersonating a soldier or officer which already is illegal. It is about whether or not the government has the right to prosecute citizens for not telling the truth. Quite different, unless you're dense as a brick. In fact, the real issue here is that the law is badly written and in effect functions as a blanket criminalization of untrue speech. I'm all for punishing morons who claim to be war heroes but any such law needs to be written specifically for that crime. But politicians and officials LOVE zero-tolerance type blanket bans because they do not require any complex thinking to enforce. Just point at the book and sentence, and they're helped by the kind of idiotic knee-jerk reactions as displayed in this thread.
  16. HAWX 2 announced

Well it depends on how they're implemented.
  17. Judge Rules Against Stolen Valor Act

Did you even read the article? I sure as hell wouldn't want my free speech jeopardized just so you can punish some retard who lies about being a war hero as a kneejerk-reaction.
  18. I actually have the max file for that pit. Might look into it some day as time permits. It'd need a complete retexturing, though.
  19. File Name: ZA-9 Kestrel Beta 1.0 File Submitter: Julhelm File Submitted: 25 Oct 2007 File Category: Fictional Aircraft, Experimental and UAV's This is a fictional VTOL jet inspired by the Kestrel jet from the Amiga games Zeewolf and Zeewolf 2. It is similar to the Harrier, but lighter and with vastly more powerful turbofan which, while making pop-up'n'fire-attacks a breeze, does guzzle up fuel at a rather alarming rate when in hover mode. Features: Custom cockpit by yours truly. Skin template included for your skinning pleasures. 3 skins: Ferris-type experimental camo Swedish Navy Gripen-style camo USMC Desert camo ------------------ People whose textures I've shamelessly borrowed/ripped off: Kesselbrut - Vigi pit for the side consoles Batman - Random gauges from the excellent F-4J cockpit because I was too lazy to do them myself :) The rest of the pit is mine, however. ------------------ Other info: This is a work in progress and subsequent refinements will be posted as time permits. In the meantime, I'll be grateful for any comments/suggestions. ----------------- Legal stuff: Sell or claim this as your own work and I will bust your kneecaps, steal your mother, rape your TV and smash your f***ing head in. Same goes for trying to sneak this into some payware package. Nils 'Julhelm' Dücker Click here to download this file
