LMAO Veltro! I've posted that model before, in 2007 or 2008. So it's hardly news. Besides, since when does this mean you can't build your own? -

You can find flight manuals on the net. -
Why do the marines require VTOL to begin with? They sure as hell managed well without it in WW2 and Vietnam...

Anyone have info or know where to find info about this bird
Julhelm replied to DarthRevan's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It's a different model from the one that is available for download. Basically I thought I could do a much more accurate job so I started a new model from scratch. -

Some guy posted these profiles in an old thread here, which take the "Stealthy F-15" concept to what has to be it's logical conclusion. Maybe FC would like a stab at these: -
It would probably have been cheaper building 2-3 different airframes with shared avionics than trying to make this single airframe cover such vastly differing requirements.
-
Why is it that pet issues of the USAF (internal gun, less weight) and Marines (VTOL ...sigh) are allowed to f*** up what could otherwise have been a perfectly good common airframe, if not for interservice rivalry? What does the USAF care about airframe weight anyway? It relies on operation from gigantic airstrips and supports its aircraft with inflight refuelling so technically range and payload isn't an issue. And why do the marines need VSTOL? They sure as hell never needed it in WW2 or Vietnam, or until they acquired the Harrier which hasn't been that effective anyway. Why couldn't they be content with operating their F-35's from expeditionary forward airstrips? At this point it's just TFX all over again and a lot of taxpayer money is wasted that could have been put to much better use funding a plethora of other projects that have now been relegated to R&D land.

Resource Utilization, LOMAC vs SF2E
Julhelm replied to Fubar512's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The main problem is that TK's engine clearly isn't intended to match even LOMAC's 2005 visuals since the engine is still essentially 2002 technology that has no provision at all for quick lodding of and procedural generation of terrain objects such as trees, nor any useful implementation of graphics standards such as normalmapping of objects. The latter is funny because he does have normalmapping on the water and terrain, but just won't bother linking the libraries to the other shaders and justifies this that he "doesn't have the budget". -

Those old F-104 models
Julhelm posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Is the original modeller still around or how would I go about gaining access to the max files? There is a specific one-off F-104 mod I want to do but it requires modifying the original max file... -

Off the top of my head: When I was a kid I saw a B-17 fly over my house. Not the most common thing in Sweden! The local skydiving club operates twin AN-2's, both of which have soviet markings on them with one in green camo. Then the other day I had a Sikorsky Skycrane fly over my condo at low altitude making lots of noise. I've also seen an AN-124 (several times actually - they tend to land at a local airport not far from here. If you have MSFS you can check it out - Sturup airport).
