  1. Here's a better shot of the golden gun.
  2. Those are just awesome. :D Thanks for the post and link.
  3. Any and all C-5s. A, B, and C models. Worked on all the even number tails at Travis, and now all the odd number ones at Dover. I came in the USAF in '89 and I remember lots of mod's going on at Travis. Thanks. Not much longer here thank goodness.
  4. Trash haulers? Far from it. More like troop haulers, artillery, tanks, munitions, helo's, mail, etc. Money, well... I'm making a fortune here. I'll be able to retire by the time I get home. Have you seen "Three Kings" ? That's me. :D Here I am with this golden gun, an AK-47, of Saddam's which is going to a museum after a few troops get their pictures take with it. It was a present from his sons. It's a real beauty though. I hated to part with it after getting this pic.
  5. Thanks MadJeff, got it! I'll try it out after work today. I really appreciate it.
  6. Falcon Six Two, I'm in Baghdad, Iraq, where I've been since September. Hopefully in early February I'll be home. The bad news is it's still very dangerous here, the good news is we can surf the net. :D I'm active duty Air Force and was sent here as a heavy airlift (C-5) maintenance controller. Stinger22, no questions just yet but possibly in the near future. Thanks.
  7. Capun, sure you can repost this. I'm still not back home. Have a ways to go yet but it's coming quickly. Early Feb for now. Wolfman, cool, thanks for posting the pics. :D
  8. Thanks much! Roger that, I will. :) Darn, still won't work for me. It's trying to download from Checksix again. That site is blocked here. Oh well, gonna have to wait another month until I get back to the states.
  9. The link for this plane is still working in case anyone wants this jet still. Just curious if any of you are still flying it.
  10. Can someone upload this LoMan program HERE at Biohaz? I can't get to Checksix from here in Iraq. I'd really really appreciate it.
  11. Where can I get a copy of LoMan? I can't get to checksix.fr website so I'm hoping it's somewhere else that I can get at it from Iraq. I did this tweak, the ATI cfg tweak where you put the DLL in the Lomac folder, renamed the music folder to music.old, tweaked most settings to medium, full planar shadows, low water quality, and am running at 1024x768. Before doing all of this I was getting just 8-10 fps on a P4 3.0GHz laptop. After all the tweaks (especially the DLL into the Lomac folder one) my fps is now 50-60 with dips down into the 20's! MUCH more flyable now and NO MORE stutters!! I'm very happy with this sim. It's such a blast. Thanks to everyone who found these great tweaks. :D
  12. If anyone gets this to work, please post a "how to" !! :D Certified F-14 freak.
  13. A good friend in Columbus, Ohio bought the game for me and shipped it to me in Baghdad, Iraq. I got it a few days ago and put it on my 3.0GHz Sager Laptop. It runs great with 512MB of RAM. I'm going to try turning off sound card acceleration to see if I can't get a few more fps. I notice that whenever there's a huge explosion from a Mk84 bomb the fps takes a major hit. I hope this will be addressed in a patch or by someone tweaking the texture files. All in all I'm loving this sim! I love flying around in the A-10. I went through all the training missions and just love locking up targets with Mavericks. Thanks to the development team for a top notch sim! The graphics are just beautiful. Now I just can't wait to get home and fly this with joysticks! Flying with the keyboard isn't much fun, but it sure beats NOT SIMMING at all. :D
  14. Just an added note, I've met several Ukranian military here! It's a real hoot to talk to them. It's like your in a Russian movie. All I can think of when I'm around them are all the movie's I've seen with Russian speaking people in them. It's too cool. I'll be sure to get some pics with them next time I see them. To be around these jets that you are only used to seeing in flight sims is just too cool. Here's one I took the other day of an IL-76. more at http://hawker.smugmug.com I only wish we could fight against Iraq in LOMAC. I know we are here helping them but it'd be fun to go up against Saddam's regime in this beautiful game.
  15. No doubt. :D The game is the best flight sim to date! For Civ sims I do love FS2004, but as far as combat, LOMAC gets my vote for #1.
  16. I'm only here for one more month. If someone would want to burn the patch that would be cool, but if not I can handle waiting until my return. I'm going to try that ATI graphics fix to the config file after work today. Hopefully that'll fix the slow downs I'm seeing with large explosions. This sim is outstanding. Btw, I know it'll come up eventually, but has anyone tried any sort of mod where you can fly any/all planes? I know you'd probably have to use a cockpit from one of the flyable ones, but I'm just curious. About the collapsable USB joysticks, yeah, I'll definitely be getting one in the near future.
  17. Incentive Rides

After getting an early beta of my EA-6B emailed to FE, I was told I would get a ride in a Tomcat at NAS Oceana. I was told that every third Thursday they give rides, and that I could get one. When I asked FE about what date would be best, and when I'd have some leave to come down there for the ride, no response. In fact I've had no response from him for a long time. If he is what he claims to be, he would have the integrity to reply with an honest comment. So it looks like I've been had as well.
  18. Merry Christmas From Baghdad

Lot of pics here that I've been taking... USO tours and more. Some neat stuff. http://hawker.smugmug.com
  19. Merry Christmas From Baghdad

Thanks Seawolf. Yeah, he's definitely a favorite of mine as well.
  20. Incentive Rides

Good post Mr Mudd. Thanks. I do realize that it is very tough to get incentive rides. Btw, I am military (USAF in Iraq at the moment) but in the heavy airlift dept. While in Kuwait at the end of the Gulf War an F-14 landed and forgot to turn on his anti-skid. He blew a tire after the wheel locked up and 1/3 of the wheel ground down to nothing as it skidded to a stop. I (then a C-5 flying crew chief) went out with a flight engineer to offer help but then we found out they ended up needing to call in a maintenance recovery team off of their carrier. So as they waited they put me in the front seat and gave me the dime tour. It was very cool. I sat in there for about an hour as the pilot told me all I could think to ask about it. The best part was it was a night and still on the runway. With all the lights lit up it felt like I was getting ready for take off. So far in my life that's about as close as I got to a flight in a Tomcat. :D
  21. Merry Christmas From Baghdad

Hi Dutchy, Leeann Tweeden is a super model type, and Sable is in WWE wrestling. I'd say she's more of a "ring girl" who's job is to look great and strut around. I'm not 100% into wrestling though so I'm honestly not sure if there's more to it than that. Glad you like the pics.
  22. Merry Christmas From Baghdad

Thanks guys, I (we all) appreciate it. The Robin Williams USO group with Leeann Tweeden, Kurt Angle, and Mike Wallace was cool, but also my first time being "at the jet" as they arrived. I was so hell bent on getting some Robin Williams pics that I ignored Leeann until later. I really wish I got my pic with her! Oh well, live and learn. Luckily Sable was very cool and just stood outside with us in the cold on the night they were to leave, and talked about her career and thanked us for being here. Of course we thanked her right back for flying in here to see us.
  23. Merry Christmas From Baghdad

Btw, those tree's are in front of the base chapel here in Baghdad. That's a 30" exposure. My first attempt at a long exposure.
  24. Awesome work Jinks. You are doing my bird proud. :D I can't offer much more than words of praise because I'm still deployed to Iraq until early '04. Keep up the great work! Hawker
