    I cant get the radar missile bays automatically or manually

    Have checked the A/C Data file and tried some changes to it. Such as, the animation ID num. Not a budge.

  3. Hello Again,

    I didn't mean some one named 'Again' only.  I meant all fans of the mighty Su-33.

    I worked on the data file some more.

    Download this version. B e sure to back up the old one...   Unzip and plop the new Su-33_Data.ini into your Su-33 folder.  It won't work if your primary '.ini' file doesnot have the data file remark pointing to Su-33_Data.ini . This is easy to remedy.

    I have it working better than the old  one. Its a little easier to control and it turns pretty well. I personally think it should sustain a higher turn rate still. I think the problem lies in those cryptic values in for example a section describing a wing's aerodynamic qualities. Too much drag somewhere. If anyone has documentation on the 'XXX_data.ini' file, please let me know.

  4. Here's a Thanksgiving Present (for those old enuf to remember such things)

    I worked on the SU-33 Data file and got it to work better. I only tested it with a full weapon & fuel load doing basic moves/ not tried to dogfight it yet.  I assume it would turn better mostly empty.

    It turns better and roll is more controllable.  The Su-33 ought to be the or one of the top large frame AirToAir combat aircraft (non-stealth) worldwide.  Easy to beat AIs in SF2.

    One thing, The ailerons were set (in my file anyway) to move on the Z axis, which looked funny in camera mode. Set that to X axis and most is right again.

    Oh, the "Su-27SM2" download (think I found it in one of the Campaigns previously mentioned) maneuvers excellently right out of the box. I tried some of its values in the SU33 datafile. I think I might make a SU33Data file using an entire Su-27SM2 datafile. Changing it's internal 'system names' and so forth. The canards in the SU33Data file could still be a part of problem and maybe the drag factor in the wings or fuselage are wrong. I will work on it til i can black you out with the su33 !!  As any real fighter plane should.

    Bye

  5. I found the Su-33 was included in the 'StrikeFighters2 War for Taiwan' Campaign as seen on page 8 of user campaigns. Inside my upload here I reference The Modern Korean War Campaign as the source for the SU-33.

    I downloaded the Taiwan Campaign moments ago and found this on a readme:

    So that's the situation for now.

  6. oops, i also added a edited weps.ini file. Even if u like it, u might want to comment out the intake missile entries. I'm not sure they used those low hanging missile positions on the jump ramp carriers. Also, I mention scaling down the skins to 1024 x 1024. I did not include a 2024 x 2024 jpg for the 'Tigers'  Am not sure you'd notice the difference.  Sorry.

    Here on combat ace in sf1 downloads 'SHIPS' is the coralsea. if you havedn't downloaded it do so.

    create a folder in your ground objects (where you place the cv-43 or cv43)  called cv-41 or cv41 and copy the files from cv-43 into it.  open up the coralsea.bmp file with MS Paint and use the 'transparent selection' option then paste the contents of OVERLAY.bmp right over the bitmap. if you've selected 'tramsparent selection' option it will simply change the numbers ont the ship pictured there.

    All you need to do then in change CV-43.ini, CV43.ini, or coralsea.ini to match the name of the folder you've called the newly created CV-41 folder with youur new ship in. Open up the 'in i' file and name it like so:

    [GroundObjectData]
    ObjectName=CV-41
    ObjectFullName=USS Midway CV-41
    ObjectDataFile=CV-43_data.ini

    Now you have the Midway to fly VF-151 & VF-161 off of.

    BTW: https://www.navysite.de/cvn/cv41.htm

    to check out what cruises VF-151 & VF-161 flew and did what from the USS Midway CV-41.

  8. Hello

    Like the cockpit. Do you mind if I include it with a F-4S mod I made for posting here at combat ace.

    I took the old F-4S (Larte) from Column 5 and modded some skins (for VF-151 & VF-161) and added your cockpit to create a fictitious F-4S+ as an upgraded F-4S that the 'Navy' continued to use after the 1986 retirement of the F-4S Phantom II from the Navy inventory.

    Since after all on my computer the korean war, the vietnam war, and the " 'cold' war " never ended and the Navy needs all the planes it can put up.

    Viva la resistiance!!!

  9. comment about roundel stated meant only as constructive, its a one letter typo afte all

    any just loaded it and tested in SF num1 patched to latest version and weps from combat ace and works great

    i did load it into a diff version (not sure what patch level, would hafta chk) and when i tried it with the fake pylons added in 2 legs were seen sticking out. But, i copied the plane into the latest version and didn't as yet add the fake pylons in everything seems ok to me. I don't really ever use d-tanks in wwii anyway. Just fly simulated short simlated missions so to speek.

    All i had 2 do was save a few ini files as ansi files from unicoders and works like a charm
