Question reg OFF´s Ernst Udet Fok D7 OAW skin
Barkhorn1x replied to DerMo's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Lot’s of debate about this over at the Aerodrome and in the Greg VanWyndgarder (sp?) Osprey Fokker DVII Aces book. Suffice it to say that the photo is of such poor quality that a color determination cannot be made and Udet did not reference the color in his writings. However, since Udet inherited Kirchner’s black and white stripped Dr.I it is now thought that he carried the black/white stripes over to his this DVII. Personally, I like the contrast as the red and white stripes are a bit too much with the red fuselage. -
I am guessing that confirmation is calculated as a % of chance based on text count, like this: - 0 - 20 characters = 10% - 21 - 50 characters = 25% - 51 - 100 characters = 75% - 101+ characters = "Geez man, you writing a combat report or a novel?" The process gives the illusion of making use of the text entered - and that is what is important - the simulation of a combat report.

Love the Blue Max poster - hilarious. -
Udet's end was quite tragic as he was by all accounts a sensitive, apolitical soul who kept bad company (Goering, Milch, et. al). A shame he let himself get talked into a high position in the Luftwaffe and ran afoul of Nazi politics. He was a minnow swimming with a school of sharks.

Grounded due to technical problems

I feel for ya and hope that the card is not fried erevocably. But do be careful with over-clocking going forward - it just cannot be good for a component to run it higher than spec. longterm. -
Welcome aboard.

Welcome aboard WMitty.

Good deal Paul and welcome aboard. You too CheckSix (I believe I remember you from other boards) as I forgot to comment on your welcome thread. This sim is the dogs b@lls for sure.

...and that position works well too!

Good stuff and I sent you a Google link to go easy on you.

I agree w/ Olham - get comfortable with "just knowing" where to aim and when to shoot. Good deflection shooting is a product of good SA and instinctivly understanding where you need to put your a/c in relation to his ***. Best positioning - IMO is above shooting downward so you can rake the cockpit and engine area. That tends to get results quick. ***I cannot tell you how much Track IR has helped with SA - it is just a must have.

Excellent work.

When I first joined SimHQ - after purchasing European Air War some years back - I wanted a WWII pilot nic. Hartmann would have been too cliche so I went with Barkhorn as - at #2 - he probably tried harder. The "1x" came into play when I lost my password and was no longer at the original e-mail address, so I had to sign up again and added the "1x". Since then I am always Barkhorn1x no matter what forum I am on. -
Good news. Will gladly pay for add-ons.

I have a Logitech Wiglman Force and would like to bond the TIR F12 center key to button - but it is not working. Anyone figure out how to do this?

Track IR Center Key - Bind to JS?
Barkhorn1x replied to Barkhorn1x's topic in WOFF 1 2 3 / UE - General Help
OMG - I am such a dumba$$!! I never thought to just plug in the stick and hit the button via the TIR software. I was doing all sorts of other stuff w/ the Logitech software that wasn't working at all. Two minutes later - all sorted and I am very happy. Thanks for your help here. -
Help with target padlock toggle

Well, my IR4 arrived !! Installed easily – no issues. Lighting in room was easily sorted as well. I d/l’d the AHII profile from HomeBoys’ site – flew a couple of test QCs and was quickly overwhelmed by the overly responsive head movements – what the??? Then I fiddled with the profile axis software – very intuitive - and quickly tuned down settings for each axis to be more in line with my head movement comfort zone. So far, so good and I am impressed with how "natural" the experience is as opposed to a hat switch. But I do need a lot more practice to get used to this gadget. -

Help with target padlock toggle

To me, the CFS3/OFF padlock is a real kludge as it’s not easy to use or at all natural with that green cone. I suggest you not get into the habit of using padlock as “bad” habits are hard to break. Much better for me is a method that has been outlined here by others: - Map the tack screen/icon type and label keys to the stick. - Use the tac screen as an aid to navigation and to alert you to the presence of bogies - Once bogies appear switch tac screen off and labels on This method compensates for the lack of terrain features to navigate by and for my lack of eyesie in being able to spot those little dots. -

On second thought my "profile" would be no help as I really don't have one per se. I only activate the Logitech software as it enables the center spring - for some reason. But all of my stick settings were set through the CFS3 software.
