Ordering my 4 in about two weeks - Birthday coming.

So what key(s) does one select to simply view other members of your flight - enemy a/c? I want to sight see a bit and just cannot figure it out. Thanks.

OK - you've all badgered me about it and my B-day is next month so I decided to order TIR4. I do have one concern however and that is mounting the unit on my Monitor. The top of it is a flush design that goes back about 8'' to 10" - so I doubt that clipping the unit on will be an option. Can it simply sit on top? I guess I can secure it with something. Does anyone else have this issue and what did you do? Thanks.

Thanks guys. I guess it is best not to over think it and just get it and stick it on there somehow. I plan to have by mid-June. It better improve my SA as I need all the help I can get. ;)

OK - next question. I cannot find the accelerate and decelerate entries on the in flight menu/commands menu. Should they be there? If so what are they called? Can I change the mapping via an INI file? Thanks.

Thanks - figured it all out. Now all mapped to where I don't have to use warp.

...for no apparent reason. "E" restarts it - but only for a minute. Any ideas?

Never mind - I believe it was a QC pilot that was actually dead but didn't register as such. All OK now.

Just received and installed last night. - Installation/patching = worked like a charm – no issues - Setting graphics parameters = very easy via the workshop – I have the a/c slider on 5, effects on 4 and everything else on 2 – running at 1920x1200 32bit – and the sim looks great and is very smooth (getting over 40 FPS on average) - Controllers = figured them out after some trial and error and assigned my keys to get comfortable. Yank and bank is no good in this sim. Smooth moves are the order of the day. - I have only flown Quick Missions so far – and one practice Campaign Mission. VERY impressed with the level of detail and the a/c that I’ve flown (DVII, DVa) just feel right. Questions/Help: 1. How does one use the target/padlock keys exactly to target a/c. I keep pressing “Target attacker” and “Padlock” and don’t get the typical flight sim tracking results. What am I missing here? 2. To end a mission you hit “Esc” and then “End Mission”, correct? Now, if you have not landed (hey, it’s Quick Mission and I am practicing!) you do not seem to get credit for any kills. Is this the way it works or am I again missing something? The ONLY downer I see so far – and I won’t mention it again as I know it is a limitation of the CFS3 engine – is your custom skin selection is adopted by your whole squad. You fly as Udet – and everybody Udet. Oh for the IL-2 skin system, that would be heaven, as there are SOOOO many well done skins to choose from. Alas. Bottom Line = This is a very deep sim with a ton of content. The amount of skins is simply staggering. I have no doubt that I will be busy flying for quite some time.

After playing around a bit I am ditching padlock and going with the Uncleal method. Seems to work well for me. Track IR will have to wait a bit - Xmas ?? Other questions: - Graphics = I have a GeForce 9800 GT - anyone have a list of specific Nvidia control panel settings that work well? - Trim = what is the deal with trim? The references I find are rather vague.

Thanks all - good tips in the Tips and Cheats section - I may just ditch the whole padlock thing and stick to TAC until I see 'em and then labels. My eyes ain't all that great!

Olham: Don't have the sim yet. How does one know the squad and the location of the victory?

Just ordered and awaiting delivery. Does the sim allow for individual skin selection or are does each squad have one skin? Thanks.

...and I truly apologize for waiting so long. I meant to buy when it came out but real life and all. Well, now I have to wait longer for the shipment to arrive. Oh well. I already have CFS3 installed and all the patches d/ld - and skins,maps, the a/c availability chart and that nice key card that one of you fellows did. Three questions in the meantime; - Where can I find an example a nicely filled out claim form? - Is there a list of flyable/non flyable squads/Jasta's available? - Didn't see a Nieup 28 available - does that put a bit of a crimp in the US squad flying? Thanks for the info. guys. Really looking forward to it as RBII was my first (of many) flight sim and I LOVE the period. Yea, I flew about 2 missions in CFS3 - very silly stuff. :yes:
