Boomer714 Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 Hello All, I always wondered why the afterburner comes on at 70% open throttle, on most aircraft that are have one? Shouldn't the AB come on around 95 to 100%. If this is so; is there a way I can change this in one of the Strike Fighter files? Thanks in Advance, Jim Quote

Thanks in Advance, Jim <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In real life Afterburner comes in beyond 100% miltary power afaik so you would actually want it to come in at 100% & go to e.g. 130%. You may be able to achieve something similar if your joystick has detents & a way of adjusting the axis in software - but afaik the ingame gfx will always show it coming in at 70% on those aircraft that have it. +Fates Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 When you speak in Percentage % , that is refering to the maximum engine RPM. Thus, 100% Power=100% Rated Engine RPM. Afterburners happen AFTER the engine. They are mainly a controlled rocket engine. There can be a % of RPM greater then 100. This is because the 100% reference point is just that....a reference to the MAX RATED Engine RPM. Anything over this is overspeeding the engine. Overspeeds which occur for any time are bad....sometimes catostrophic. The 70% mark is a mark of Rated Thrust....IMHO, not Engine RPM. If the rated thrust is 100,000 Lbs and you are are producing 70,000 lbs of force, then you are at 70% Power....not RPM. Can you guys see the difference now? <C> Fates Quote
Vegasbob Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 Anyone have a better afterburner sound for SF project 1. I found a cool sound from a website but the format is incorrect or something cause you can't hear it. Quote

Has a certain amount of serenity to it.... :) <C> Fates Quote
