Hello All,

I am new to the forum and to WOV. Was wondering if someone could point me to a decent tutorial of how to add SFP aircraft to WOV. I done several myself already, but on several I cannot get some of the ordnance to work, and on others and can't get them to show up at all. :help: Any help would be appreciated. Also, where do WOV onliners congregate to dogfight online? I've check HL several times and there is never anyone in there.

One common mistake is that when you unzip the aircraft there is a folder within a folder. Which aircraft are you having problems with?

I noticed the folder within folder thingy, something I've grown use to years ago installing CFS aircraft. One aircraft I am having trouble with is WPNSSGT's A-10 Thunderbolt. Several of the readme.txts mention modifing a weapons.ini file and such, which I cannot find in WOV.

One problem that has surfaced that is taking priority over installing the aircraft is my inability to play online multiplayer. I keep on getting error messages and kicked out, both in HL and from the WOV multiplayer screen. I am thinking that perhaps I installed the patches incorrectly, in that, I installed them one over the other (1, 2, & 3). Can anyone shed some light on this?

Well, got the online multiplayer straightened out. I merely did a fresh install of WOV and installed the patches one at a time, rebooting in between each install. Still need to tackle the add ons tho. Capun, that tutorial seem to apply to SFP and not WOV. Thanks tho.

WOV and SF use the exact same game engine so it applies to both.

Okay, getting the aircraft in now seems to be working. Now how do I get their ordnance packages to be recognized?

Can you be more specific?

For instance, I got an SU-7 installed and it shows up in game but with only air to air armament. In the "loadout configuration" file, however, it lists a various weapons loads from bombs to rockets. How do I get these to be recognized in the loadout screen so they are selectable?

By installing the current weapons pack.

Heh, okay, I extracted the weapons pack. I take it the "weapons" folder goes in the WOV\Objects directory? Now is there something I need to do with that weapons editor?

Sidewinder, so far I haven't had to do a darn thing with the weapons editor and such. I mean, I pick a plane and the ordnance is available, what more can one ask for? LOL.

My only worry is that there doesn't seem to be a big WOV following for online multiplayer. I want an online game as the offline are just too boring.

Thanks for that! Good info. My question now is what would require one to have to use the editor? I mean the weapons pack list appears fine and all.

You'll find the weapon and gun editors indispensable for adding and modifying weapon and gun capabilities. For example, you can change tracer colors and or edit which effects are associated with a particular gun type. You can change the warhead weight, type, guidance type, counter measure rejection values, (etc.) of a given missile, or simply change the fusing value of a bomb or shell.

You mean one has the capability of creating cheat weapons? Ugh, I thought I'd seen the last of that with CFS, what a drag.

Yeah, but no ones does. There has been no reports of anyome creating cheat weapons since i have been in the WOV/SF world fo rth elast 3 years. You have nothing to worry about. Also if someone makes a cheat weapons and tries to use in MP, it wont work because everyone has to have it. If your installs of WOV/SF are not the same then MP wont work. :victory:

That's very good to hear! Three years huh? Do you know where the online multiplayers congregate? It sure as heck isn't Hyperlobby.

Another question. I noticed the in-game multiplayer screen appears to only allow LAN game look ups. How does one change this setting to internet?

Yeah there isnt many a mod out there I didnt have a hand in the last 3 years. As far a MP goes, well it is, its weak point and turn off for some. Its 90% a single player sim. If you are looking for a great big MP community like IL2 then you are in the wrong place. I don'y do MP so I am not sure where they go. The other than this forum, the forum at www.column5.us is didecated 100% to WOV/SF and a guy there named streakeagle can helpp answer your MP questions. Also that site has the most up to date info on SF/WOV. I bounce between 3 site to keep people up on whats going on in the SF/WOV world. Anyone who knows about SF/WOV knows me.
