    3. RAF 601 Sqn Aircobrac skin

No. 601 Squadron RAF was the only British unit to use the Airacobra operationally, receiving their first two examples on 6 August 1941. On 9 October, four Airacobras attacked enemy barges near Dunkirk, in the type's only operational action with the RAF. The squadron continued to train with the Airacobra during the winter, but in March 1942, it re-equipped with Spitfires.

    6. FrenchWings update from version 7b to version 8

This is an update of the dynamic campaigns French Wings 1943 - 1945.

It requires version 7b to be installed. So French Wings parts 1 through 6 are required (these are all the main files for version 1), then the version 4 patch, the version 5 patch, the version 6 patch, the version 7b patch, and finally this update.

With this version 8, there are now 14 dynamic campaigns for the French Air Force from 1943 to 1945. The latest ones are dedicated to the bomber group "Bretagne", flying Martin B-26 Marauders, and to the RAF squadrons 326, 327 and 328 flying Spitfires.

Furthermore, some bugs have been corrected (see read-me file inside download), and a lot more AI units, aircraft types and skins have been added. There are more mission types and variety has been enhanced.

Even if you already installed version 7b, please install this update to version 8.

      Enjoy!

    23. DGenbriefingsfixed2.zip

DGen campaigns briefings - All languages except Russian.
      --------------------------------------------------------

      Version 2.0 - July 8th, 2007

As you probably have realized if you play DGen dynamic campaigns, there are many mistakes in current DGen briefings files:

      1) Missing campaign briefings and/or debriefings, which result in strange words displayed on the screen, such as "LeningradSummer44DeBr" or "Africa42tGbDb" for instance.
      2) Mistakes in briefings, which can make it sometimes impossible to display them in the game, especially when DGen syntax is not properly respected.
      3) Wrong or missing aircraft descriptions or city names
      4) Spelling and grammar errors

There are countless errors in the files, which is unavoidable given the hundreds of possible campaigns and probably thousands of various combinations of missions and campaigns which are available.

So I checked each briefing file, in all languages except the Russian language, and compared the contents with each related campaignsXXY.dat file, for all DGen campaigns.

Basically all files have had to be corrected, except the Polish briefings and a couple of the RAF briefings over Murmansk. All others are corrected.
For spelling and grammar, I corrected only the French briefings. For all languages, I tried to correct as many DGen errors as possible, such as missing briefings or debriefings.

There are probably still many mistakes, but at least with these files now the user should be able to start a campaign without seeing something like "Lvov41SkBr", and finish campaigns without seeing something like "KurlandAug44DeDb".

Some of the briefings will appear in English even if you use another language in the game, some will be blank, but I added new ones for most campaigns which had no briefings.

Thanks a lot to Ljekio ULMAR who provided me with a translation of his Africa campaigns briefings made by Gagarin, which I adapted slightly.

Some mission briefings for the Luftwaffe over Africa may look strange, because they refer to Soviets as enemies: this is due to the fact that these files are common with Eastern Front campaigns.

TO INSTALL, simply unzip the DGen folder contained in the zip, into the game's main directory, for all versions of installations/add-ons/patches.

By default the game's main directory is C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946, or C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft\IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles.
You can also use these files if you have Pacific Fighters only.

Allow Windows to overwrite older files.

I intend to update these files whenever necessary.
If you find mistakes, please let me know what campaign/mission briefing is wrong, and I will do my best to correct further: e-mail to me at vtrelut@yahoo.fr

    25. Ki.46 Interception

This mission recreates the interception and destruction of a Ki.46 in the early morning of Jan. 10th 1942 by two Brewster Buffalos of 243 Sqn, New Zealanders Sgts. Bert Wipiti and Charles Kronk.
Guided to the approacing bandit by radar and using a height advantage, they managed to slow the Dinah, eliminating its speed adavatage over the Buffalos, then shot it down over Johore. It was 243 Sqn's first kill.
      Can you do the same?
