      Heinkel He 51
      Spanish Civil War era

A set of skins for Stephen 1918's HE 51. This is the same format , and arrangement, in my previous upload, except this is purely for FE 2 and specifically the Spanish Civil War map. All files except for the LOD files are included, you will need to download Stephens original Heinkel HE 51, then drop my files into the folder that has Stephens original aircraft in it, allow the overwrite, as the .INI files are slightly Different from Stephens. The Skins are 3 different ones from Condor Legion J 88, then 4 Luftwaffe examples in their colourful pre war plumage. 2 Bulgarian examples, one is pre Soviet , and the other post Soviet. Finally there is a Spanish 1939 version.
Any problems or errors, please do message me, and I will hopefully rectify the issue.

      Enjoy

    3. Spanish Civil War, Airfield Vehicles

Three vehicles which modders can add to airfields using the target.ini. I have included the data for the types.ini in the download.
Ambulance - based on the 1932 Ford Model A panel truck.
Starter Truck - based on the Soviet AS-1 starter truck, which was a Soviet built version of the Ford Model A.
Crash Response Truck - loosely based on a variety of WW2 era RAF crash trucks.
Each truck has a high and low poly LOD as well as a destroyed version. I have organized everything into folders for convenience, but you'll need to take them out of the folders when you install them.

    4. Soviet Green I-15

      Soviet Green I-15
This skin is for the Polikarpov I-15 made by Stephen1918. I took the original texture that came with the plane and added a few details, some weathering, as well as the Soviet red stars.
      Installation:
Drop the 'SovietGreen1' folder in the 'PolikarpovI15' folder. It can be used both in FE & FE2.
Credits go to Stephen1918 for the I-15 and the original green skin.
      Freeware use only. Thank you.

    5. Spanish Civil War, NiD 52 - 2 Pack

In 1928, Spain purchased a license to produce the Nieuport-Delage NiD 52. The Spanish version was produced at the Hispano-Suiza factory at Guadalajara and was known as the Hispano Nieuport NiD 52. It had an all metal frame with cloth covering over the wings and parts of the fuselage. It was powered by a V12, 500 hp engine, and was armed with two Vickers machine guns mounted in the fuselage.
The Spanish version was slower than expected and was considered difficult to fly. About 125 were produced between 1930 and 1933. 56 remained in service at the beginning of the Civil War; most of them remained in government (Republican) hands, only 11 went to the rebel (Nationalist) forces. Although it was an unpopular plane, the Nid 52 was an important fighter until better planes became available.
I have made two versions of the Hispano Nieuport NiD 52 - one for each side. Each version has a functional cockpit, appropriate skins, and decal sets. My skinning templates are included with the download.

      Credits
Thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the NiD 52.
Ojcar has added a gunsight to the NiD 52. He made a weapon station and loadout to add the gunsight which came with Emld's Nieuport 24 Lewis. I am including the gunsight with this download. Instructions for installing it are included in a separate file.

      Installation Instructions
For FE1 - Unzip the file. Move the folders named "NatNid52" and "RepNiD52" into your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder.

For FE2 - Unzip the file. Move the folders named "NatNiD52" and "RepNiD52" into your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create two new folders named "NatNiD52" and "RepNiD52". Move the folder named "D" from your Aircraft/NiD52 folders into the appropriate Decals/NiD52 folders you just made.

    6. Spanish Civil War, Heinkel He.51

The Heinkel He.51 was introduced in 1935. It was a German, one man biplane with a V-12, 750 hp engine. It was developed as a fighter and carried two machine guns mounted in the fuselage. The He.51 began serving in the Spanish Civil War in 1936, used by the Nationalists, and was used by both Spanish and German (Legion Condor) squadrons.  The He.51 was a superior plane at first, but was soon outclassed by newer Soviet planes. It was then used as a ground attack plane and served in that role until the end of the war.
My Heinkel He.51 includes a basic camo skin, decals, a fully functional cockpit, fuel tank, and a 10kg bomb. Instructions for installing the fuel tank and bomb are included in a separate file. I have included my skinning templates with the download.
      Credits
Thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the Heinkel He.51, and for providing resources and advice, especially for the weapons.
Ojcar has found the data for a more accurate machine gun, we don't know where it came from, but I am including the data for the 7.9mm_MG17 machine gun for your use. Instructions for installing the gun are included in a separate file.
Ojcar has added a gunsight to the He.51. He made a weapon station and loadout to add the gunsight which came with Emld's Nieuport 24 Lewis. I am including the gunsight with this download. Instructions for installing it are included in a separate file.
Ojcar has also taught me how to add controls to jettison the fuel tank (along with other features, like landing gear, flaps, and wheel brakes.) I am including instructions for adding controls to First Eagles in a separate file.

      Installation Instructions
For FE1 - Unzip the file. Move the folder named "HeinkelHe51" into your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. You will also need to install the bomb, machine gun, and fuel tank, instructions for installing them are included as a separate file.

For FE2 - Unzip the file. Move the folder named "HeinkelHe51" into your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create a new folder named "HeinkelHe51". Move the folder named "D" from your Aircraft/HeinkelHe51 folder into the Decals/HeinkelHe51 folder you just made.
You will also need to install the bomb, machine gun, gunsight, and fuel tank, instructions for installing them are included as a separate file.

    7. Spanish Civil War, Spanish DH.9 - 2 Pack

After World War I, Spain purchased several surplus Airco DH.9's from Britain. In the 1920's a Spanish version was built, under license, by the Hispano-Suiza Company. The Spanish DH.9 was fitted with a 300hp Hispano-Suiza 8 cylinder engine. About 500 were produced during the 20's and at least 25 were still in service when the civil war started in 1936. The Hispano-Suiza DH.9 was used by both sides during the war and some remained in service until the end of the war in 1939.
I have made two versions, one for each side, with appropriate skins, decals, and loadouts. My skinning templates are included.
Each version has two bomb loadouts, one with eight 25kg bombs mounted under the wings, and one with two 100kg bombs carried under the fuselage. One of the bombs was included with the Polikarpov I-15. Two of them were included in Geezer's 1930's bomb pack. I have included all the necessary bombs with this download, but you may not need to install all of them. I have included instructions for installing the bombs in a separate text file.
      Credits
Thanks to Ojcar for making the original data file for the DH.9. I have made slight modifications for the Spanish Civil War versions.
Thanks to Geezer for making the two Italian bombs as part of his 1930's Bomb Pack for First Eagles. I have included them in this download in case you don't already have them.

      Installation Instructions
For FE1 - Unzip the file. Move the folders named "NatDH9" and "RepDH9" into your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder.
You will need to install some or all of the bombs. See the Instructions For Installing Bombs, included with this download.
For FE2 - Unzip the file. Move the folders named "NatDH9" and "RepDH9" into your FirstEagles/Objects/Aircraft folder. Then in the FirstEagles/Objects/Decals folder, create two new folders named "NatDH9" and "RepDH9". Move the folder named "D" from your Aircraft/DH9 folders into the appropriate Decals/DH9 folders you just made.

    9. Breguet XIX Republican pack

I have depicted three Republican squadrons: 22 Grupo, 23 Grupo and Alas Rojas (Red Wings).
I would have liked to assign squadrons (Escuadrilla) to the first two skins but it would have only been guesswork.
The Red Wings was a unit that was equipped with a range of aircraft including: nine Breguet XIXs; five Nieuport 52s; one Fokker F.VIIB; and one DH89 Dragon Rapide. It operated in the Aragonian front, hitting targets in Zaragoza, Huesca, Tardienta and Barbastro.

    10. Breguet XIX_Hellas

      2 Mira
      Royal Hellenic Air Force
      1940
The Breguet 19A2B2 served in the Royal Hellenic Air Force from 1925 to 1940. Initially they carried the names of Greek cities and island but were later given code numbers.
53 aircraft were purchased, including 12 from Yugoslavia in 1935, but only 18 were still airworthy by the start of the Greco-Italian War. By this stage it filled an observation/army cooperation role with 1 Observation Mira, under I Corp Command, based at Perigiali, near Corinth and with 2 Observation Mira under II Corps command, based at Larissa and Kozani.
On 4 November 1940, a Breguet from 2 Mira located the attacking 3rd Julia Alpine Division in a mountain pass near Metsovo. Three more Breguets sent to bomb the Italian division were in turn attacked by three Fiat CR.42 fighters. A Breguet was shot down, one crash-landed and the third returned to base, though badly shot up.
I've include both the bmp files and the layered psp files for those of you who want to improve on the skin or make your own.

    11. Euro Objects

This pack contains several dozen new, high-res Euro ground objects for upgrading the really outstanding maps produced by FE modders. The intent is to push the envelope and see if FE can approach the immersion of more recent flight sims.

There is a lot of confusion concerning FE objects. Generally speaking, mainstream objects (mostly buildings) are 63% of actual size. However, combat units and airfield objects are 100% full size - so they don't look strange when close to full size aircraft.

The screenshots show all of the buildings contained in this pack. They are ALL 63%. Shown, but not included in this pack are airfield objects and WIPs of fortifications and terrain. They will be in a future objects pack and will be full size. Also included in the future pack will be more 63% walls/fences at 5 and 10 degrees for placement on sloping ground, plus more 63% railroad objects.

Use MUE's excellent LOD viewer to identify each object as I don't feel like making explanatory diagrams.

    12. Spanish Civil War, Tanks & Armored Cars

I have made eight tanks and armored cars for the Spanish Civil War. They are equally divided between the factions, with four for each side.

Several FT-17 tanks were purchased by Spain after WWI. Some of them were still in service when the Civil War started and were used by both sides. I am using the LODs from the FE Objects.ini. I have made new data files using SCW nations and new skins.

The Schneider tank was used in WWI, and a few were purchased by Spain after the war. Only a few were still in service when the Civil War started, and were used by the Republican (government) forces. I have made a new version for SCW with a new data file and skins.

The Lancia armored car was also introduced in WWI. Production continued well into the 1920s and it was used by the Italian Army until the beginning of WWII. The Italians provided several to the Nationalist (rebel) forces when the Spanish Civil War began. I have made a new version for SCW with a new data file and skins.

The Panzer 1 was a small German tank first introduced in 1934. It has a crew of two and was armed with two machine guns in a turret. More than a hundred of them were provided to the Nationalist forces. Most of them were operated by the Condor Legion (German troops fighting for the Nationalists) but many were operated by Spanish units.

The UNL-35 was a Spanish built armored car armed with two machine guns, one in a turret and one in the body. It was used extensively by Republican forces but with a high center of gravity, it did not perform well off-road. Production began in 1937 and continued throughout the war. After the war the UNL-35 served in the Spanish army until the late 1950s.

The T-26 was a Soviet tank armed with a 45mm gun. It was probably the best tank used in the Spanish Civil War. A relatively large number were purchased by the Republic during the war. Many of them were captured during the war and used by the Nationalists. I have made a data file and skins for both sides.

My data file for the T-26 tank uses the 2 pounder Davis gun which is included in First Eagles. I have also included gun data for the 45mm tank gun which was actually used in the tank. You can install and use it if you wish.

      Installation Instructions
Unzip the file and open my folder named "GroundObject". Copy all the folders to your FirstEagles/Objects/GroundObject folder. All of the tanks and armored cars use the same skin for the destroyed version. Copy the file named "DestroyedArmoredCar.bmp" into your GroundObject folder. Note that the "DestroyedArmoredCar.bmp" file should not be inside any other folder.

    13. Spanish Civil War Terrain (fake)

      Fake Spanish Terrain

This is a placeholder until a better Spanish terrain is made. It will show up as "Central Spain" in the game.

This terrain is based on the Verdun terrain, using the Verdun.cat file, from First Eagles. It is a cosmetic change and is not geographically correct. Everything is the same as the stock Verdun terrain except for the following changes:

      - I have renamed all the locations in the Target.ini and Movement.ini with names from the Guadalajara area of central Spain. I did my best to match town and airfield locations with the terrain coordinates, but I couldn't always find an exact match.

      - I modified the terrain tiles to remove the trench line. I have left a few battlefields for Army Co-operation missions.

      - I have used Jan Tuma's tile set, the Spring tiles are included with this download. I made some minor changes to skins for buildings and trees.

      - I have made extensive changes to the airfields, using hangars, buildings, and vehicles I made for Galicia, as well as hangars, buildings, and vehicles made by Geezer for the 1930's. I have also used Geezer's AA guns. All the necessary objects are included in the download.

      - I created new briefing maps with the new place names.

I have created two nations for the Spanish Republic forces (the government forces) and for the Spanish National forces (the rebel forces). Note that I am using "SNAF" as the name of the Spanish National forces, and "SRAF" for the Spanish Republican forces. The nation names in the planes and ground objects have to match these names. A text file is included which you can use to modify your Nations.ini file.

I have also created new icons for the planning maps and in-flight maps to represent the two new nations.

      Credits
Jan Tuma made the terrain tiles which I have included in this download.

Geezer made some of of the hangars, airfield buildings, vehicles, ground crew, and AA guns included in this download.

Ojcar provided links to some very helpful information about the Spanish Civil War and the vehicles, weapons, and equipment used in it.

Gerwin made the TFD editor which I used to modify the terrain.

      Installation Instructions
I highly recommend that you make a separate install for the Spanish Civil War because nations, icons, ground objects, terrain, and planes are completely different from the stock First Eagles. Note, you will need to keep the "Verdun" terrain folder because "FakeSpain" uses the Verdun cat file.

My folder named "FakeSpain" contains the actual terrain. Put the entire folder into your "Terrain" folder.

The folder named "Flight" contains a text file which needs to be added to your "Nations.ini" file. If you don't see a Nations.ini in your Flight folder, you will need to extract it from the FlightData.cat file. Open both files, copy everything from my "AddToNationsIni.txt" file and paste it at the end of your "Nations.ini" file. Change the "XXX" to the next numbers in your sequence.

Note that I am using "SNAF" as the name of the Spanish National forces, and "SRAF" for the Spanish Republican forces. The nation names in the planes and ground objects have to match these names.

The folder named "Flight" contains icons which show correct insignia for the in-flight map. Copy them into your "Flight" folder. Note that after this, in the in flight map, all "Friendly" airfields will be represented by a Republican roundel and "Enemy" airfields will be represented by a National roundel.

My folder named "GroundObjects" contains all the ground objects used in the terrain. If you have made a separate install for the Spanish Civil War, you should delete all the WWI ground objects and replace them with the new ones. I have adjusted the data files to reflect correct nations for the Spanish Civil War.

My folder named "Menu" contains icons for the two new nations which will appear in the planning map. These will simply extend the set currently there. Any planes whose nation is "Germany" or "Italy" will still be represented with WWI German or Italian insignia. But planes whose nation is "SNAF" or SRAF" will be represented by the appropriate new insignia.

You will need to extend the end date of First Eagles in order to fly planes from the 1930s. In the First Eagles folder, open the Options.ini, under [singleMission] (a little more than halfway down) set the end date to after the war. The Spanish Civil War ended in April 1939. I set my end date to the end of the year: EndDate=12/31/1939

    14. Spanish Civil War, Breguet XIX - 2 pack

The Breguet XIX was developed in 1924 as a light bomber and reconnaissance plane. It was used by many nations throughout the 20's and early 30's. Several variations were produced, with different engines, gun configurations, and fuselage designs. Spain bought several Breguet XIXs and eventually began producing them in their CASA (Construcciones Aeronáuticas SA) plants. By the early 1930s the Breguet XIX was obsolete and beginning to be replaced. When the Spanish Civil War began, there were almost 100 still in service and they were used by both sides until better planes became available.

I have made the Breguet XIX B2 bomber variant as produced by CASA. It has a Vickers machine gun mounted in the fuselage, and two Lewis guns mounted on a scarff ring. It has a Lorraine-Dietrich 12 cylinder engine and can carry a small bomb load.

I have made two versions, one for each side, with appropriate skins, decals, and loadouts. My skinning templates are included.

The bomb loadouts for the Nationalist version use the German 50kg bomb (Ge50kg) from Geezer's 1930s Bomb Pack, available in the Combat Ace, First Eagles Golden Era Download section.

      Credits
Thanks to Ojcar for making the data file for the Breguet XIX, and for supplying me with some valuable reference material.

      Installation Instructions

      Spanish Civil War
      Polikarpov I-15 Read Me

The Polikarpov I-15, nicknamed "Chato," was one of the primary fighters used by the Republican forces in the Spanish Civil War. The Spanish Republic bought a large number of them from the Soviet Union, and manufactured even more in Spanish factories.

The Polikarpov I-15 was armed with four machine guns and could carry a light bomb load. They were used mostly as fighters, escorts, and interceptors. They were used for ground attack missions on occasion.

My Polikarpov includes a basic green paint skin, decals, two loadouts, and a 25kg bomb. Instructions for installing the bomb are included with the download. I have also included my skinning templates with the download.

    20. Sea Gladiator

This all new model with hi-res textures is the third of three new Gladiators for FE/FE2. Dedicated SF2 versions will be released shortly.

A lot of guys helped me develop these models, particularly Baffmeister (new FMs), LloydNB (Sea Gladiator skins), and Stephen1918 (file bashing).

Software problems prevented me from including battle damage TGA files, so the raw artwork will be posted separately as "Holes" so you can make your own TGAs.

      Enjoy.

    23. Improved Gameworld Appearance

I occasionally tinker with lighting and textures to make the TW gameworld look more realistic. This small pack was developed to improve Gterl's WW1 Italy game map, but should also work with most any other SF or FE game map.

Most of the changes are located in the FLIGHT folder, whose contents are largely the work of Quack74. All I did was alter the light levels to better simulate "high noon" - the standard game settings are too dark and murky for bright sunshine.

I also lightened and dulled Jan Tuma's tree art so forests don't look like dark green blobs. The new art files Stromy, Stromy2, Stromy3, and TEROBJECT_TREE S1 replace the equivalents in the WW1 Italy folder.

Finally, the increased light levels can make some aircraft appear too shiny. A sample texture set ini file is included with reduced glossyness settings - see first shot of Sea Gladiator (facing away from camera). 0.000 equals no gloss whatsoever.

      Specular=0.200
      Glossiness=0.200
      Reflection=0.100

    24. CR42 (1940) Graphics Pack

The graphics pack contains all the .psd files used to make the CR42 skins. In addition to templates and skin art, there are numerous squadron insignia for CR42 units that were deployed in 1940 Libya. There is also selection of different squadron number styles, plus Belgian and Hungarian national insignia. Note these images are BIG - they are sized to fit the hi-res artwork. Modders who like to make decals can experiment to see if large, hi-res decals are feasible. If not, the numerous overlays can be painted into the skin artwork.

    25. CR42 (1940)

Updated files to reflect user inputs - see change log. The SAVE SELECTION AS CHANNEL button in my copy of Photoshop has stopped working, so I cannot fix the bullet holes alpha channel problem. I have placed the _Holes files in the Graphics Pack. If you can make your own .tga files with alpha channel, just drop the resulting four .tga files into the CR42_1 folder.

      **************************************************************************************************************************************************************

The CR42 was Italy's most numerous fighter in 1940, and fought over North and East Africa, plus briefly in the Battle of Britain. Export versions operated in the Battle of France (Belgium) and on the Eastern Front (Hungary). Immensely strong, its license-built Pratt & Whitney engine drove a license-built Hamilton-Standard constant speed propeller, giving the CR42 a performance edge over Allied biplanes in early WW2.

This is the first of many 1930s aircraft intended for FE/FE2. The planned selection of aircraft will cover the early desert war in North Africa and also the Spanish Civil War. Whenever appropriate, an SF2 version will also be developed for Baffmeister's BoB mod.

A number of modders have assisted me in developing this aircraft, particularly Stephen1918. Additional thanks to Wrench, Baffmeister, Sully, gambit168, Nixou, and Viper63a. I've probably forgotten someone - if so, my apologies.

Special thanks to professional illustrator Jim Laurier for use of his instrument art for the cockpit.

The only known problem is the extended take off run - once in the air, no other problems have been observed. When Baffmeister returns in the autumn, he said he will tweak the FM a bit more to his satisfaction.

The current FM lists the CR42 as a German aircraft so it will drop into most First Eagles' mods. You can change the nationality by opening the CR42_DATA.ini and editing the first two lines of the Mission Data listings.
