open pilot.bmp and color the helmet

save as pilot.bmp and your good to go

(I saved as pilot1.bmp and renamed the original pilot 2 and then renamed the edited one pilot.bmp, so I would always have the original)

You find this file in the Objects.cat file.

You need to download the cat extractor

and extract the Pilot.bmp It will extract to the folder C:Program FilesStrategy FirstStrike FightersObjects

Edit the .BMP and save in the Aircraft directory as Pilot.bmp

sure wish Pilot skins could have a higher resolution.. hate them blurry things.

REMBER NOT TO FORGET YOUR LOOKING THROUGH PLEXYGLASS CURVED AT THAT MAY NEED THE REFLECTION TO GET A BETTER ASSPECT FROM THE PILOTS VIEW

Phab you can have higher res pilot skins, just change the file size to say 800x800, make your changes, then reduce back, this concept is how I got the "Danger Jet Intake" and the "Rescue" legible on the VF-84 skin (2048x2048).

For this helmet I resized to 800x800, used the font "Wingdings" and applied the Scull and X-Bones. I used the Character Map to search the Font for an Helmet symbol to apply.

Looks, Phabulous :)

Anyone working on a complete high resolution skin?..

One more thing, how.. do you make the text at a angle, and wich settings do you use to apply the font, and is that the USAF Amarillo font?..

ahh <--- filled with stupid questions

Unfortunately it seems only one pilot skin is available for each "session" of the game

I tried placing pilot.bmp in a specific texture folder, but it always shows the one in the aircraft folder or default to the one compiled in the cat file

only way for me is

pilotx.bmp, with different values for x and renaming according to desired skin for the game to come, knowing only pilot.bmp will show

could be eased up with a batch file but not ideal to say the least
