aceplayer390 Posted Monday at 11:53 AM Posted Monday at 11:53 AM Hello guys, My PC is about 14 years old and it can run Wings Over Europe, but I have one major problem: very low FPS. The FPS drops heavily whenever several aircraft turn on their afterburners. I've been playing the game for years and this issue still bothers me. I would like to know if there is an afterburner configuration file (such as an afterburner .ini file) that controls the effect. If so, where can I find it? I'm trying to reduce or disable the lighting effect from the afterburners outside and inside cockpit while keeping the flame visible, because It is causing the FPS drop. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Gepard Posted Monday at 02:50 PM Posted Monday at 02:50 PM Depends on the aircraft. Some planes are looking beautiful but are real polymonsters. They have a big effect on the fps rate. To check whether a plane is a polymonster look how big the LOD files is. As bigger as more bad effects on the fps rate. 1
aceplayer390 Posted Monday at 04:32 PM Author Posted Monday at 04:32 PM So isnt there anyway to turn the AB light off ?
Wrench Posted Monday at 05:48 PM Posted Monday at 05:48 PM Knowing WHICH aircraft is usually a HUGE help in trying to diagnose the issue. Stock or add on???? However, if you really want the mess up the game, you can remove the callout for the afterburner effect from each of the offending aircraft's data ini. You'll find it in the Engine section. But the problem sounds more like your machine, NOT the game. As in vid card not strong enough. Try setting the graphic levels down a step or two in the 'Options" tab 1

Try following procedure: In the data.ini of the plane is a section related to [Engine] Look for line: AfterburnerEmitterName=AfterburnerEmitter Change to: AfterburnerEmitterName=
