SF1 Modding Experts – Please Introduce Yourselves

Hello everyone,

I created this thread because Strike Fighters 1 and its modding community are much smaller than Strike Fighters 2. As a result, there are far fewer experienced modders and people who know the game's files inside and out. If you run into a problem, it's often difficult to find someone who can help.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone with extensive knowledge of a specific part of the game—such as aircraft, effects, weapons, avionics, terrains, or any other aspect—could reply here and mention what they're most familiar with. That way, people who need help will know who to ask, and it may make solving problems much easier for everyone.

Very useful topic indeed, especially making a distinction between SF1 and SF2 modders, as if both games require entirely different skills while in reality they have most if not all features and modding tools in common (some folks have been modding the games for 20+ years, moved on to SF2 when it became the better modding platform).

Thank you for taking the time of writing something this useful and for making me spend time reading it.

I wasn't trying to separate SF1 and SF2 modders based on skill. My point was simply that the SF1 community is much smaller and much less active, so it's harder to find someone familiar with specific SF1 issues. If my wording came across the wrong way, that wasn't my intention.

If you would have focussed on GENERAL issues, instead of only YOUR OWN, you would have already understood that the overlap in SF1 and SF2 is huge and the same people in SF2 are the same that did SF1...

This is an enthousiast forum, not the forum of the publisher of the game. If you think you are entitled to stuff, to to Thirdwire and complain/demand there..
Over here, it is all a labour of love between people who mostly consider the others their friends. So, think about what you BRING to this table, before making demands and asking the pants off everybody.

Alright then. Rarely there would be SF1 specific issues, SF2 is just an upgrade of the same thing, modding on both is rather interchangeable. If you have specific questions that haven't been answered already in the Knowledge Base (https://combatace.com/forums/forum/349-strike-fighters-knowledge-base/), then create a topic and those with SF modding knowledge will answer, regardless if it's SF1 or SF2.

The games have been modded for 20+ years, and the forums are also filled with topics on how to do this or that. Use the search bar (https://combatace.com/search/) and you'll likely find that your question has already been answered in other past topics.

I understand how my posts came across, and that wasn't my intention. I appreciate that everyone here contributes voluntarily, and I'm grateful for the time people spend helping others. I was only trying to make it easier for people to find someone familiar with a specific area of SF1 modding, not to demand help from anyone.
