No F-101 for download yet.

A good F-101 quite possibly might make me dance a jig. The question is - what would people prefer to see? an A, B, C or RF version?

I would prefer to see all versions.

I like single seat with guns, two-seat with radar/missiles, and of course recon.

If I could only have one version, it would be two-seat with radar/missiles since it would be the most useful for in-game fun/historical missions, though the recon variant is more useful for historical WoV missions. Early A model with guns would be pure fun though... so many choices to make.

Of course what would really make an early model F-101 mod sparkle would be a weapons mod so that one could carry the kind of nuke the one-oh-wonder was meant to sling at the Soviets. I could be wrong but I dont think the current weapons pack includes that particular 'special weapon.'

The special weapon is a Genie missile, and I thought it was already in the weapons pack. At least one nuclear tipped air-to-air rocket has been released as I recall posts from those using the mod.

An RF-101C for me....

Obviously, I've hit a nerve here. I'd love to see all variants. Anyone out there want to take up the challenge?

Obviously the special weapon on the B was the Genie, but there were a couple of variants (the single-seaters) that were designed to toss free-fall nukes at the Russkies. I can't recall exactly what variants (the A I think), or the weapon. I'll check on this when I can get my hands on my data after I get done teaching.

The F-101A was modified to carry a Mk 28 nuclear bomb.

So it ended up acting as a TAC nuke bomber instead of its designed role of long range bomber escort.

Not many built, but much sleeker than the F-101B and it had 4x20mm cannon instead of missiles.

A key fact is that it was limited to 6.33g, whereas a later revision, the F-101C, was improved to 7.33g.

I got several [7] different 1/72nd scale models of the 'VooDoo' and the weapon of choice per model was the MK28 Nuke.My favorite is the Lockheed Weapons Tester out of Aberdeen Proving Gounds,MD.This aircraft is now in front of Lockheed Martin in Newport,Va.Where i used to deliver the 'home based staff' lobster, prongs and shrimp by semi.36,000lbs of seafood is alot and they would recieve this twice a month! No eels though...sorry
