Well, after experimenting with this for a while, I came to the conclusion that the standared, Soviet weapons should be left on it. But....

 

We'll make sure it's Irakian, all the same (nation-wise). Double check your top section, and use the following:

Some Notes for World War 2 Aircraft:

 

There has always seemed to be some interest in the subject, so now that we're pretty caught up on the major players from the mid-1950s to date, I thought now would be a good time to 'fix' some of their older brothers...

 

The most major change in loads are in the attechment types. For the Axis Powers (Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan and WW2 Italy), there are only two:

 

Nazi Germany gets "W_Germany"

Japanese Empire gets "Japan"

WW2 Italy uses "W_Germany" (as we have NO specific Italian weapons; the Luftwaffe bombs work just fine)

 

Originally, several of the very early releases used "Soviet", as in game terms, the Soviet Union was considered an 'enemy' nation for loading/data ini purposes. That gets changed too, but I'll cover that later.

 

For the Allies (USA, UK, WW2 China, etc) you can pretty much use the "USAF" attachment type, excepting those aircraft that came with nation specific weapons (many of the Dev A-Team RAF bomber/strike aircraft come this way)

 

The Soviet Union of WW2 also has it OWN attachment type -and specific weapons-, albeit still "Soviet", but with the WW2Nations.ini, we have the additon of 'WW2Soviet', making them a "friendly" nation.

 

So...what we have is something like this:

 

US (including USN, USAAF & USMC) all use USAF

RAF/FAA/RN, etc can use either USAF or UK, depending on weapons availbility.

Any other Allied nations can use either, depending on the country of origin of the aircraft (ie: RNZAF Corsair's using USN/USAF types) USAF and/or USN

See above for WW2 Soviet planes...

 

As many of the Axis aircraft have already been updated via various ini mods that I've released, I'll be trying to go over the ones I haven't fixed, and post adjusted data and loadout ini adjustments

You'll note that I've left the lightweight (50kg bombs) pre-loaded for the STRIKE mission. Since you've only got 2 7.9mm MGs for strafing, and like everyone else seen countless times the newsreel films of the bombs dropping off the wings, it makes sense in a way. The lighter bombs will give your flightmates something to drop when you order them to supress ground fire.

Avionics Fix for F3H-2M "Demon" (by Fox Montor)

 

This actually came about accidentely, as I was looking at this cockpit for possible use on some of the Red Air birds badly needing some kind of radar-equiped cockpit -- we're still lacking a decent twin-engined one, btw (other than my repainted Phantom pits)

 

At any rate, I was testing the radar on intercept mission, and noticed there wasno way to lock up targets for the Sparrows!!! The radar was simply acting ONLY in search mode, even though TRACK was listed.

So, after comparing it with some other contemporay aircraft, I made the following changes....

 

It should be noted here, that I claim NO historicaly accuracy for this fix -- it is simply done to allow the missiles to work.

You'll also want to activate the audio-only rwr (which was in the original), by copy/pasting the "F-4J_RWR.bmp" into the /cabina folder.

 

What I had discovered was the "TrackCapabilities=" section was blank!!! Without this, the game engine couldn't use the radar lock-on bits in the avionics dll, so you couldn't lock a target, making your Sparrow's worse than useless (well, moreso than normal! :wink: )

 

The addition of the "BORESIGHT" mode is a guess on my part, but it is available on all the other USN/USAF radar equiped fighters from the same era (F-86D, F-94, F-89, possibly early F-8s), to say nothing of the birds on the other side of the fence; in fact the 17PF/19P/19PM seemed to only have search and borsight mods for the RP-1 and RP-5s.

Fix for All Skyhawk Avionics 'Humps & Bump'

 

This here is the definitave fix to make sure the proper 'hump' loads, and is associated with the correct aircraft. This is for the following aircraft:

Then, do the usual ini dance, saving after each one, to make sure all are updated. You can also see I changed the listing for the A-4Q's fairing to generic "Argentina" (this after my little problem earlier today).

 

Specific aircraft loadouts are handled on their own, via the individual data and loadout inis.

 

EDIT: don't forget to open the weaponsdata.ini with the Weapons Editor, open any weapon, and SAVE. This will re-initialze the weaponsdata.dat file, and should now allow the new '0-strength jammer' hump to automatically load..

Note For Argentine Air Force Weapons, New Weapons to Add, and Nation status adjustment:

 

With some discussion of 'what can I do to use the existing stuff for the Falklands/Malvinas while awaiting the arrival of the new verison?" I took it upon myself to have a look-see and what we've got, what needs tweeking, and what need replacing.

 

Please remember, all the following information may be considered moot when the new Falklands/Malvinas Mod is released!! It should be noted, for those that DO have the original mod, this WILL break the Campaign, due to changes in the weapons. A good Campaign Ini Guru should be able to fix it quite easily, with the data provided here. Hopefully, what I've done here will be of some help to the Falklands Mod Team.

 

Basically, we're missing 3 important aircraft, but they are relitively easy to replace (and will be subject to another post), but the exising aircraft we DO have, are easily modded to fit.

 

What these edit will amount to, is creating 'Nation specific" versions; those will be covered in subsequent posts in this thread.

 

Right now, we're going to 'fix' the weapons, and what I call "Nation status" for Argentina.

 

For all intents and purposes of the original Falklands/Malvinas Mod, Argentina is to be considered an Enemy Nation. No getting around it for gaming purposes -- no political statements here, just a simple "us vs them''.

 

First off, you'll need to extract the Nations.ini from the Missiondata.cat located in the /Flight folder. Open the Nations.ini with your text editor of choice, and find Argentina -- it's Nation040. It'll look like this:

Then, save and close the weaponsdata ini. Now, do the usual 'adding weapons ini dance' we've all come to know and love.

 

It should be noted here, and I've probably mentioned it somewhere else as well, drop tanks don't usually have a nation specific attachement type (hence, the use of the 75 gallon P-51 tank of WW2 Luftwaffe aircraft). So getting the tanks on the Mirage variants, Skyhawks, etc, will be a non-issue.

IAI Dagger (by Mirage Factory)

 

Some of you may have already done this, but we're going to create an Argentine ONLY version. The steps below are pretty basic, and covered in another thread of my here in the KB, "Creating Nation Specific Aircraft".

 

First, assuming you've got a full-on Argentine version (all 3 skins), we're going to rename the main folder:

 

IAI_Daggar_FAA

 

Go inside your newly renamed folder and rename the IAI_Daggar.ini

 

IAI_Daggar_FAA

 

(remember -the folder MUST ALWAYS match the name of the main ini!!)

 

Open the IAI_Daggar.ini, and change the "AircraftFullName=" to read as below:

 

AircraftFullName=IAI Dagger (FAA)

 

That's what will show on the drop-down listing for single missions. This will diferentiate it from an IDF version, if you've got an "All Objects" install.

 

What's great about this game, is everything sits in their own folder, and you really don't have to go around renaming other inis. Which we're not going to do.

 

Open up the IAI_Daggar_DATA.INI...

 

Double check your nation name is as:

Something else you'll probably discover, is that the decals for the skins no longer work. This is because we've renamed the main aircraft folder. Again, this is an easy fix, but you'll have to do it for all 3 skins; no biggie...simple find/replace text.

 

Originally, you're pathway looked like this:

You need it to read like this:

 

IAI_Dagger_FAA\dagger\d\flag

 

Do this for all decal pathways, using your text editor (I use notepad...super easy) with the find/replace button.

Mirage IIIC FAA (by The Mirage Factory)

 

Basically, we're following the same steps as above. As we'll be pretty much be doing for all these birds!!

 

Again, this aircraft came from the roginal F/M mod.

 

Again, rename the main folder to

 

MirageIIIC_Arg

 

(I'm using "Arg" for, obviously, Argentina, as opposed to FAA. You can, of course, do it whichever is easiest for you)

 

Rename the MiragcIIIC.ini to

 

MirageIIIC_Arg.ini

 

Open the MirageIIIC_Arg.ini, and again, change the AircraftFullName= to

 

AircraftFullName=Dassault Mirage IIIC (FAA)

I'm not particularly happy with the loadouts, expecially the STRIKE. Given the few pictures, and/or AARs, I would think they'd have used the internal bay, and left the wing stations free to reduce drag and perhaps stuck another pair of drop tanks under them to extend range.

I've added a few rocket pods, simple because I like having them for the SEAD and CAS mission. They're also nice to have for ANTI_SHIP, as most merchant vessals are rather thin-skinned.

You may, of course, adjust to taste.

 

I have also not looked at the cockpit issue...the original references the A-4B, which other than being a single-engined pit, has no real issues. Although I'm sure all EE Canberras had some kind of ground mapping radar. I'll do some more experimenting, and post fixes later.

I have noted, however, some flight model problems in WoE. Upon takeoff, she sits right back on her a$$, tearing off parts of the tail. My suggestion, is add throttle VEEEERRRRY slowly, get rolling befor revving it up fully. Hopefully, and FM Guru will have a look at the problem....

Ok, assuming you all've been paying attention, you should be getting the general idea on creating the nation specific aircraft.

 

Well, do the same things here to the SuE, only we're creating it fully. This will give you BOTH French and Argentine versions.

We will also be adding some weapons, like I promised. I had some experimenting to do, so that should explain WHY they're not listed above with the others.

 

SO....

 

create a new folder, called "SEtendard_FAA" (yes, I know it should be CANA, but that ok for now :wink: )

 

Copy ALL the contents from the original SuE into it, excepting the "FN" skin folder. We won't be needing the Aero Naval skin for this one.

 

Rename the SEtendard.ini to (you've probably guessed this on by now..)

 

SEtendard_FAA.ini

 

replace the aircraft name with

 

AircraftFullName=DB Super Etendard (FAA)

 

=note, you can always switch the FAA to CANA, its all your choice!

 

While you're still in the main ini, you should delete all the references to the skins. The game engine will add it automatically upon startup, and as we're not using the French skin....

General Dynamics F-16A Arab Nations (by Gepard, original aircraft by Team Viper)

 

Gepard has done most of the work; it's a pretty cool mod and will add another worry for Israeli pilots -- is that Viper one of ours or theres?? :dntknw: I also reeeallly like the loading screen he's done -- always loved the 'flying past the Pyramids' shots. :cool:

 

Several suggestion I have are:

1) Switching the sounds over to those from the Mirage Factory Vipers

2) Switching over to the cockpit from the Mirage Factory's F-16A-1 . There is one problem with that though; it's set to use the avionics70.dll, and you'll loose you ground mapping radar. However, you will get the CCIP (if equipped). It's your choice.

 

Ok, onto the data ini, we're going to make a few small changes; most notably to the weapons attachements, as this is set as an ENEMY aircraft, and can no longer use USAF style weapons, as mentioned in Gepard's readme.

 

Fortunately, there is a myriad of Egyptian (and other Arab nations) specific weapons, all ready to use. These includes Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia and several others, and are covered in many of the posts above.

You'll note the use of a rocket pod in the CAS (Attack) loadout ... I personally don't think they'd be used opearationally, but there was a request on the General Discussion Forum about using (the wrong nation's kind!) on this bird.

The last time I saw rocket pods on a Viper, was in Falcon 3.0, waaaaay back in the days of DOS 6.0!!!! So, what the hell, I figured...they don't look too out of place, although a more USAF style would probably look better. You can also replace the Rockeye's with rocket pods in the loadout screen, as that hardpoint is also set to accept RPs.

 

The EAF-specific weapons in the WepPak have several RPs available for their use:

 

TDA-9

TDA-18

UV-16

UV-32

SNEB

M260

M261 (the last 2 are USAF/USN LAU-3 type)

 

Obviously, the UV series would be for the MiGs the EAF used to fly; one can make the assumption they could be modified for use on later, Western aircraft. You can always switch them around in the Loadout screen; personally, I'd go with cluster bombs, which are also loadable to that station. :yes:

Lockheed P-38 Lightning series (by Wolf257 and Others)

 

Whilst tweeking the PTO terrains this week, I finally figured out just why I couldn't get the drop tank and bombs and etc to show on the various marks of the P-38. It'd been staring me in the face for almost 3 years now...which goes to prove that even I'm still human...what a horrible thought!!! :rofl:

 

Anyway, it resloved down to a simple misspelling, or actually mis numbering in the loadout ini.

 

In the data ini, just make sure that "USAF" is the ONLY attachment type availble. No other edits are needed there...

 

If anyone want to know what the glitch was, the "0" was missing in front of the loadout numbers...

You'll note I've given you drop tanks for ALL air-to-air missions. This may not be historicall correct for all theatres of operation. But, I've chosen to err on the side of 'having more fuel for them long over-water flights'. You can always remove them, if you wish, for the shorter ranged missions.

 

Also, don't forget that the rocket 'Christmas Tree' isn't available before 1944, and only on the later models.

One thing we're not going to get into, right now, is a proper cockpit. There is, at present, NO single engined MiG style cockpit that incorporates the HUD and avionics70.dll. As experimentations are still in progress, that will be covered in later posts, Maybe.

Side Note:

The Recon Pod is simply a copy of the existing one created by TMF. It's just now a PLAAF one. The 16 & 32 shot rocket pods are 'best guesses' on my part; some quick research I've done, looking at photos, suggests a 7-shot pod. One could easily be made using one the US ones, if needed. The bombs are basically copies of the Soviet FAB series, using the Mk.81, 82 and 83 shapes, also as suggested by photos. Just check the Hangar Screen for howling1's J-7 series...all the weapons are laid out, and they sure look like streamlines Mk.80 series to me!

 

Also, I found NO data on any type of Cluster Bombs, although these would be easy to create by simply making a copy of one of the 250kg RBKs, and making it CHINA only. If anyone HAS info these, please get it to me, and I'll try and do them up.

The Landing lights are the 'standard' Fishbed placements. If you find the running lights not bright enough at 0.02, I'd suggest stepping them up 1, to 0.03, and NO brighter!!!

Additional PLAAF Air-to-Ground Weapons (by Wrench)

 

First off, with the exception of the we-all-know-to-be-wrong UV series rocket pods, all these following are based off existing LODs (shapes) in the Weapons Pak.

 

This is to be considered an update to the weapons first shown above in the J-7E thread; I've deleted that section of the post as to thin down this Forum;

Names are as accurate as I could find. As are year dates. As always, feel free to correct any errors, and post a response with the corrected data in the "Mods and Skinning Forums" and/or via PM to me.

 

As to the rocket pods, until we get the correct shapes, and rockets themselves -especially for the 90mm and 130mm projectiles and launchers, we'll have to make due with what we have.

As stated, there ARE some faults with this, but it does give you something to use until the proper weapons arrive for the rocket pods and their rockets. The bombs are good, and most likely need no further adjusting.

 

One of the advantages of this, is you can update the older J-4, J-5, J-6/F-6s with their proper nationalized weapons. It really dosen't matter for these older Fresco's and Farmers, but it's nice to have the proper stuff. You'll just need to switch their AttachementType= from SOVIET to CHINA, and adjust your loadout inis accordingly.

MiG-25BM Foxbat-F {SEAD variant} by Team Foxbat.

 

This post was originally to help out another member get the loadout sorted, but I thought it'd be a good idea to add it, so it dosen't get lost in the shuffle.

The fixes herein will also include adding running and landing lights.
