I have some questions RE: employing LGB's and pods

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I've read through the earlier post about not being able to use LGB's and I thought I'd covered all my bases! I'm trying to load a pod (i.e. LITENING / NITEHAWK) onto a Hornet. My version of WoE is patched and I have Bunyap's lateset weapon pack. I've looked up the WEAPONDATA.ini in objects/weapons and LITENING and LANTIRN are there. LANTIRN is the USN version, LITENING is the USAF version. Down the bottom, next in sequence I've added the following by Flanker562:

[WeaponDataxxx]

TypeName=USN LIGHTNING POD

FullName=Lightning Targeting Pod

ModelName=LIGHTNING_POD

Mass=75.000000

Diameter=0.359000

Length=2.235000

AttachmentType=USN

NationName=USN

StartYear=1995

EndYear=2020

Availability=2

BaseQuantity=25

Exported=TRUE

ExportStartYear=1995

ExportEndYear=2020

ExportAvailability=2

WeaponDataType=4

StoreType=3

CameraFOV=2.500000

CameraPosition=0.000000,0.000000,0.000000

CameraYaw=0.000000

CameraPitch=0.000000

CameraRoll=0.000000

SightTexture=

EODisplayFlags=268501250

SeekerRange=30.000000

SeekerGimbleLimit=120.000000

SeekerNodeName=

I've set the year for 1997 and also modified the LOADOUT.ini for the Hornet to show up on the left Sparrow station:

// Station 1 = LeftInnerWingStation (FT, BOMB)

// Station 2 = RightInnerWingStation (FT, BOMB)

// Station 3 = LeftInnerWingStation2 (EOGR, ARM)

// Station 4 = RightInnerWingStation2 (EOGR, ARM)

// Station 5 = LeftOuterWingStation (FT, BOMB)

// Station 6 = RightOuterWingStation (FT, BOMB)

// Station 7 = LeftOuterWingStation2 (EOGR, ARM, SAHM)

// Station 8 = RightOuterWingStation2 (EOGR, ARM, SAHM)

// Station 9 = LeftOuterWingStation3 (IRM, AHM) // Use stations 9 through 12 for quad IRM/AHM

// Station 10 = RightOuterWingStation3 (IRM, AHM) // Use stations 9 through 12 for quad IRM/AHM

// Station 11 = LeftOuterWingStation4 (IRM, AHM) // Use stations 9 through 12 for quad IRM/AHM

// Station 12 = RightOuterWingStation4 (IRM, AHM) // Use stations 9 through 12 for quad IRM/AHM

// Station 13 = CenterlineStation (FT)

// Station 14 = LeftSparrowStation (SAHM, EP, AHM, [b]LP, NP[/b])

// Station 15 = RightSparrowStation (SAHM, EP, AHM)

// Station 16 = LeftSidewinderStation (IRM, AHM)

// Station 17 = RightSidewinderStation (IRM, AHM)

As well as the FA-18a_DATA.ini:

[LeftSparrowStation]

SystemType=WEAPON_STATION

StationID=14

StationGroupID=4

StationType=SEMI_RECESSED

AttachmentPosition=-1.3,-2.418,-0.95

AttachmentAngles=0.0,-0.5,0.0

MissileRollAngle=45.0

EjectVelocity=0.0,0.0,-2.0

LoadLimit=500

DiameterLimit=0.3

AllowedWeaponClass=SAHM,EP,AHM,[b]NP,LP
[/b]
AttachmentType=NATO,USN

MinExtentPosition=

MaxExtentPosition=

It's still not showing up! What else can I do, or, stop doing?

Now my second question! :rolleyes: I thought hanging some LGB's on the stock WoE A-10 would be pretty cool, but I can't drop them! D'oH!! I take it the stock A-10's Pave Penny isn't properly modelled? If so, would I have to grab the updated aircraft from the downloads section?

Thakns heaps in advance for all your suggestions and help! This is what makes this sim so enjoyable!! :clapping:

Well the Pave Penny itself is not a designator, it's a seeker, i.e. it's passive, doesn't emit laser energy for the bombs to use. If you use the A-10 Modern you can use LGBs. As far as the pod.. you can use the AN/A-173 or something like that, it's just the same. I mainly looked for it for the Tomcat, since end of use always used that in lieu of the older ones. I'd like to help right now but my mind is fried from trying to do other coding stuff, but one thing, you don't have to specify it on the Loadout.ini, it's just pylon counter, and it works for me, but try this code:

Hi all! Just a quick update, mainly for Flanker562: your code for the Sniper and Lightning pods didn't work. :help: I think I'm destined not to drop LGB's from my Hornet..... I'll just load more Mavericks!! :biggrin:

Did you add LP to the pylon in the Hornets data.ini so it would show up so you can drop LGB's?

i had the same problem earlier. I had done evertyhing that u did, but still the laser pod won't show up. Then suddenly in Single Mission Menu, i selected mission year to 2004 and onwards, and to my suprise both the Sniper XR Targeting Pod & AN/ASQ-173 LANTIRN are there in the list. I just could not explained how excited i was (and still is) to be able to drop LGB from Hornet. U can use both pods for targeting purposes,but for some reason the ASQ-173 model won't show up on the sparrow station when you look at the hornet externally.

I changed the date to 2007, but on the R.H.S. Sparrow station (ID 14), apart from the various Air to Air stuff, I can only load 1 x ACMI pod, or 2 X AN/ALQ-99 Tactical Jamming Systems, both the high and low versions. (One for each sparrow station). I think it's not going to work..... :sad:

I just thought of something... my Hornet is an A model. Does this only work on a C model? If so, what about loading a Nitehawk onto an A? I've also had the same trouble with this weapon. (Weapon #869 of the weapondata.ini, once the weapons pack is loaded.)

No, the F/A-18 shown is an A model, so it's not a C version. I really don't understand what the problem is, but are you flying SF1? or WOE? I use WOE but that shouldn't be any reason why it won't show up.

I'm in WoE. I can't work it out either. Maybe if I got rid of the jamming sytems? Also interesting to note is the ACMI pod; this shows up in the configuration that I want the laser pod to, that is 1 of on the right hand side. I can't get the ACMI pod on either of the Sidewinder stations.

Just a qick one: How do you change the date in the single mission page? With a Hornet, I can only go to 1988. I changed the date in mission manager for a mission I've been working on to 2007, but I can't do it in the 'create a mission' page.

jokes aside..

its the DiameterLimit on your Sparrow Stations thats preventing you from loading the pods. Increase it ;)

Had the same problem. As far as it concerns me it started back with the HUD of the Hornet, which shows simlpy white and which took me to C6 to have the F-18BA (Blue Angels) from their MegaPack which is a upgraded version to fix this.

Hanging around with the MegaPack and the Problem with the ASS-38 still unsolved I picked the data from their weapondata.ini for the ASS-38 along with their ASS-38.bmp, .ini and .lod (which are actually two!).

Copy and paste (overwrite the old ASS-38.bmp) and it still works fine which means: it shows up in the table as well as on the aircraft itself!

Try it and you will love it! Maybe there are a lot of other issues which can be solved with the MegaPack from C6. Just have a look at it always you have this or that issue. It should fix it.
