PGC Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I all I am trying to paint a skin for the South African's mirage IIICZ and I need your help : During the 60's, mirages IIICZ were tag by an individual number and a letter code for each plane. I need to know the correspondence between the letter code and the plane's number. I already know it for the no 814 - O, the no 802 - L. Can you help me for the others ? Thanks in advance for your help. An example of SAAF mirage during the 60's P.S : Sorry for my poor english :(

kukulino Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Hi pilots Look at this: http://modelingmadness.com/scotts/decals/s...8th/ss48301.htm there is Mirage III with number 829 and letter E. But I am not sure that is IIICZ or IIIEZ. There is number 805 too. So, you can see it on that link. Good luck
PGC Posted April 5, 2007 Author Posted April 5, 2007 Thanks a lot for your help, guys ! kukulino, "E" was for the no 805 ! The no 826 was a MIII EZ !
kukulino Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 I found another one... Look at this link: http://cgi.ebay.com/Fujimi-1-48-Dassault-M...2QQcmdZViewItem Scroll down. There is SELECT A PICTURE. You can see decals there. It looks like 813 M. But I am not sure M is not red but black, I think...
gregair Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 813 is not M....... 813 is P (see attached photo) 806 F (probably, the photo is not very clear, see attached) Unfortunately there does not seem to be any sequential relationsip between the serial numbers and the letters on the 2 squadron Mirage 3's. The SAAF bought 16 Mirage 3CZ's, serial numbers 800 to 815 all the letters on the fin appear to have been in red, some of the EZ's had EZnumber... mid fuselage in black eg EZ1 and EZ6.(see photo) In the poto below the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Mirage's are Mirage 3EZ's the rest are all CZ's
+Muesli Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 For those who are interested in the text of the photo from the previous post: "Ready to fiercely defend South Africa against any attacker. Different combat aircraft of the South African Air Force ar at a ready." managed to translate as Suidafrikaans resembles Dutch. Cheers
