Gunner Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Just bought the game, added a few things like bunyaps weapon pak/ ect, just a few minor questions... (I did peek in the one forum with the info tidbits...) First one being a get a really nasty popping from my speakers with this game... and second.. whats a RAR file? I've noticed most of the aircraft come as these, does this mean they are not flyable..? or is it the same idea as a winzip file.. thanks for any help. Regards... Gunner
Jimbib Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 A .rar file does exactly the same job as a .zip file, however the compression is said to be better, and it is therefore preferred for download files. Suxh programs as Winrar or 7zip can open .rar files for you. As for the popping noises, you'd have to talk to someone with some techy knowledge.
Aintry Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 First one being a get a really nasty popping from my speakers with this game... Regards... Gunner What sound hardware are you using?
Gunner Posted April 8, 2007 Author Posted April 8, 2007 Intel audio studio, I beleive its a intergrated sound card.. not sure how ever.
Aintry Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Intel audio studio, I beleive its a intergrated sound card.. not sure how ever. I'm running Intel onboard audio with Realtek drivers. I haven't had any tech issues thus far. If you are running onboard sound, consider a driver update. Otherwise, think about installing a dedicated PCI sound card.
gumpy Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Have a neat program for opening RAR files called 7-zip look it up on Google,Get it! real easy to use.
Sgt.KAR98 Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 A .rar is just a stupid .zip file that only was made to suck your money.
Redddevil911 Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 Get the 7-Zip for the rarfiles, its fast easy and free.
Lexx_Luthor Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Yeaps, and C5's Cold War downloads [ http://www.column5.us/aircraft.shtml ] are in 7z format. All downloads are compressed using 7-Zip. To extract, download 7-Zip from http://www.7-zip.org/ best ... its GNU and BSD liscense which is way too cool.
WarlordATF Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Intel audio studio, I beleive its a intergrated sound card.. not sure how ever. Did you download any sound packs? I downloaded one that had increased Bass levels for subwoofers and they caused a popping noise for me when i would turn the volume up. Just an Idea, but i hope it helps!
Bandy Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Did you download any sound packs? ... I noticed a crackling/popping sound all of a sudden when flying First Eagles, and after much frustration, managed to zero it to a bad downloaded 3rd party sound file. That I finally killed that son-of-a-dog file was most satisfying...
Gunner Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 Its been arounds since I picked up the game, I tryed playing with 80$ headphones with the same problem haha, I'm slowing tinkering away, Ill find it one way or another.
