don246 65 Posted April 28, 2007 For me the biggest thing that ruins this brilliant sim is the AI they are looping the loop and flying into the ground and all other silly things. I have the latest patch installed hope TK gets to put it right in a new patch.

Firecage 1 Posted April 28, 2007 well im going to jump the gun and say its the add on craft mostly. And TK can't control how those planes work in the game alot since they were made by people outside the game mfg. The ini files have alot of the control factors on how the plane flies in game so each mod person makes up an FM for their plane. This is nothing against anyone but, If your flying on Hard FM and some of the planes that are available were designed for normal FM. When you fly on hard that planes at times don't fly correctly like they would on normal FM. I would find out which planes your seeing that are having problems and see if its not all from the same Mod person. More than likely it is on of the sets that were tuned to normal FM and not hard or vice versa. Some of the newer planes are tuned to Hard and not normal as well so it could be either way. As well as some FMs just dont hold up well when flown against others. I try and get a mindset of early war pilots were young and probably scared to death alot and I mark it up to pilot panic and try to let it fit in the game till some tweaks are done to them. And there are some FMs that just don't hold up well in the game compared to any other plane and just do steady drops from the start and theres not much you can do except tweak the FM ini code like alot of us do or just dont use those planes in your games. If you want to send me a priv msg I can talk you through some of the problems I have seen with certain planes and what I have done to help them slightly. Some people dont want posts of their FM inis on the forums in the open so I would like to keep that conversation in a priv msg format
Southside Bucky 1 Posted April 28, 2007 Hi Firecage. Actually, it's quite prevelant in the stock A/C as well...Especially the DFW.CV, but I've noticed that most AI planes perpetually loop and flutter to the ground. Sometimes they explode, other times they take-off again. I've brought the subject up over at the Thirdwire FE site by asking TK if the problem is being addressed in the next patch. No answer from him at the time of writing this... Here's hoping! Bucky.
Rebble 0 Posted April 30, 2007 Well that answered a question. I was beginning to wonder why some aircraft (esp. DFWC1) fly straight to the ground then spend the rest of the mission taxiing in perfect formation (until I do the dishonourable thing and machine gun them )
+Tailspin 3 Posted April 30, 2007 This may or may not help. Extract the MISSIONCONTROL.INI from the MISSIONDATA.CAT. Scroll down to the [Waypoint] section and change InitialClimbAlt= from 305 to 150. Just a theory of mine that some AI planes can't handle the attempt to climb to the initial waypoint (#2 I think) altitude of 305 meters within the time and distance required by the mission parameters. I've had this changed for awhile and it doesn't seem to me there are nearly as many A/C doing the loop and die during takeoffs. It won't help at other times in the flight, of course, but it sure seems to make takeoffs a lot smoother for the AI. TK has also said something about fixing AI stall routines which may help too. don246 65 Posted April 30, 2007 Hi yes it is the add-on planes that Loop and fly into the ground. I just did a second installation of FE and only installed the latest patch, wow only 4 flyable planes but they are very nice and behave. Now I had a total of 47 planes in the other FE installation well I really was asking for trouble. But what a nice sim it is with no add-ons (a little light on the plane menu). Now the million dollar question now is which planes to add but keeping it light I have in mind say 5 more or 10 here I go again like a kid in a sweet shop, if any one has any ideas witch AI planes fly OK I would be very greatful. Many thanks.
don246 65 Posted May 1, 2007 I belive this as been covered before can any one tell me how to stop the AI (Fokker mainly) from going up and down like a dolphin in and out of water, by altering the INI.
+peter01 2 Posted May 2, 2007 (edited) I belive this as been covered before can any one tell me how to stop the AI (Fokker mainly) from going up and down like a dolphin in and out of water, by altering the INI. I'm not clear which plane or what the exact issue is Don, but if its the AI bobbing up and down in flight, then this is how you fix/reduce.....I'll assume for example its the FokkerD7 from your previous post. Open the FOKKERD7_DATA in the FOKKERD7 folder in the AIRCRAFT folder. Change the line PitchDamper=0.xx in the top of the file under [FlightControl], whatver xx is (do not have ini with me), and increase the xx value, eg say it was 0.5 increase to say 0.75 (up to 1.0) and try. If you change this you will notice that when you fly as player pitch will be smoother as well - you may or may not like this. That is, this change affects AI as well as Player - often the designer has done it like this for a reason (compromise re AI and feel of the plane for the player)....
