When did A-6s start carrying 3xx modex?

I thought they were always 5xx and the A-7 was 3xx and 4xx

Thanks for the pack Sid!! great one. I've been looking for the Roadrunners, almost started playing with skinning one myself.

When did A-6s start carrying 3xx modex?

Ahhh the campaign engine strikes again :haha:

Paul, I was astounded by this last fall, I had a VF-1 tomcat flight with 4xx modex. I finally figured out that the campaign uses numbers modex000 through modex099.

The stock USNFIGHTERNUM decals are broken down as 000-024=1xx, 025-049=2xx, 050-074=3xx, 075-099=4xx

while the stock USNATTACKNUM decals are 000-024=3xx, 025-049=4xx, 050-074=5xx, 075-099=6xx

I broke down the basic modexes so they would run x00-x24 and cover all 100 decals for each series (1xx,2xx,3xx) required by the campaign engine and packaged them up.

They are here --> http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=3922

They are just a rename/resort of the stock USNFIGHTER and USNATTACK decals

Some carriers had 2 A-6 squadrons so the modex numbers did vary, like these in 1991:

Midway (CVW5) - VA115 (NF400 series), VA185 (NF500 series)

Ranger (CVW2) - VA145 (NE500 series), VA-155 (NE400 series)

Theodore Roosevelt (CVW8) - VA36 (AJ530 series), VA-65 (AJ500 series)

So for Sid's skins

VA-36 has 500 series, should be 530 series

VA-75 has 500 series, correct

VA-85 has 300 series, should be 500 series

VA-115 has 500 series, should be 400 series

VA-155 has 500 series, should be 400 series

VA-185 has 300 series, should be 500 series

Should this merely be a matter of correcting the numbers list in each skin folder?

What I saw happening, if it is in the campaign that y'all are seeing this, is the campaign doesn't use the numberslist at all. It starts a squadron number series from a random point in the run of decals (000-099) I was seeing VF-1 numbers that were indicative of the beginning number assigned to the squadron by the campaign engine being USNFIGHTERNUM080 and running for the ini specified 22 aircraft following 080, when it hit 099 it started over at 000 until all 22 aircraft were numbered. I had one flight of 4 that had 423, 424, 100, 101 modex numbers.

I just changed Sid's decal.ini's in the pack a couple of hours ago on my machine and they used the stock USNATTACKNUM set.

It's not in the campaign for me. Just random single missions. I think that VA-85 and 185 need a numbers list in the skin folder if the game defaults to the 300 series for the stock USNATTACKNUM
