Good news story, but from reading the story i learned all the Iran AF has in aging f-4' & F-5's. So great you have a new smart bomb, good for to bad the AC hauling that thing will never make in to combat. O well if it make the nutters over there fill better about them self's!

think they have F-14 s to

Yes that is true, but after relations fell apart between the US and Iran the spare parts needed to keep Iran’s F-14's in the air stop! Forcing the grounding of the AAF F-14's. If parts for the AAF's F-14's could be found we could have fight on our hands!

Of the 79 they had, they have something like 34-40 that still remain airworthy. Iran's been producing parts for their Tomcats for years! They have a pretty decent military industrial base plus have a huge complex at Mehrabad international airport, but they produce a large number of components for their F-4s and F-14s, not forgetting they've successfully reverse engineered the F-5. It's hard for people to swallow, but they do have a fairly decent aerospace industry. It may not be world leading, but it's not the mickey mouse operation that a lot of people in the west like to believe it is...

IIRC they have Mig-29s too, those are a bit more difficult to handle.

Now, who'll model the new bomb for the weapons pack?

The important question: do they have he laser designator pods to use it properly?

Indeed, their F-14's (the ones that are left) are still airworthy, and viable opponents.

The bomb looks like a GBU-15 or so... and maybe TV guided by the looks of the seeker dome... but it could be an LGB too.
