Was it a stock (read: WOV) carrier or a third party carrier?

I am not sure, I do not think it is a stock carrier. I would have to check.

I replaced an F-18 squad with a Talon squadron, in one of the more modern campaigns, either Push too Far or Vietnam 1984, I think.

yes. I built a mission and launched and recovered.

One problem could be the Cat launch time. Since there is no way to adjust the cat launch based on each plane, the carrier cat launch time sometimes is adjusted to launch heavier planes, which may cause problems with a lighter plane.

Two variables affect the cat launch time, the LaunchTime and the EndPosition (cat lenght). Of course also the plane weight

Go to the carrier's Data ini, look for something like this (this came from the CV-34)

[Cat1]

SystemType=CATAPULT

CatapultID=1

StartPosition=-8.7626,40.8113,16.5668

EndPosition=-8.0906,116.8239,16.6081

LaunchTime=2.0

LaunchEffect=CatLaunchEffect

CatapultEffect=CatSteamEffect

ReadyAnimationID=

ReadyAnimationTime=

See the LaunchTime? The smaller the time, the faster your plane is going to be launched but the speed of launch is probably going to be higher with the smaller plane.

If you have problems with a heavier plane then increase the cat lenght. See the EndPosition? The middle number is the Y-Azis (Lenght) in meters.

You get the cat lenght by substracting the StartPosition from the EndPosition Y-Axis. Bump up the Y-Axis number in the EndPosition to increase the lenght.

It's a bit of a trial and error since this game was never designed for truly carrier operations

Long explanation to a short answer :)

PS. Check the speed of your plane when the gears are ripped, another place to check is the MaxSpeed for your gears down

Thanks for the replies.

I'll check the carrier data, and maxspeed for gear.

Typhoid, would you be willing to post your carrier mission?

That would allow me to check/verify the carrier and gear data against a working model.

Thanks for your consideration.

Appreciate the help.

I could do that. It will take a little time to QC it good enough for a release, but I can post a simple one here.

Way cool, will be extremely helpful.

Thank you, very much. :clapping::ok:

here ya go.

Nice Talon mission to go sink Russian ships and dodge Naval Flankers. Pretty challenging mission actually since you run into Flankers and try to sink ships in range of shore SAMS.

check the unit list and terrain and load them up.

I had no problem launching although handling is tricky on the carrier approach.

I loaded the mission and exploded at mission start. I think that means no carrier.

I have Bering St. Terrain loaded; a working CVN-75; working Talon, not sure what's up.

Do I need to edit some ini to make sure the carrier is available in BS, I'm just guessing/fishing here?
