Saw a link to this story over at SimHQ this morning. Seems KB Toys has a new action hero on the shelves. It's actually pretty cool looking, I wouldn't mind having one on my sim shelf.

You can read the whole story here: Action Figure Story

The firm has also received complaints from opponents of the war and war veterans, who believe the US leader does not meet the criteria for a military hero, citing the fact that he did not serve in Vietnam but rather in the Texas Air National Guard.

this was at the web site you mentioned, guess its a brit site? somehow I dont believe that that many Real Vets would complain about having a President such as Mr Bush,it sure beats the hell out of that other guy that was in my white house..guess his figure would be a two for one thing, one sitting, one on err err...at very least President George SERVED,instead of going to england to organize 'peace' protests...and we All in the military and Viet vets also DO know National Guard units DID serve i nam...and yeah Mad Jeff Id get it myself.. :D

aggreed but I think the prob is Bushes attendance record he was in the 147th Fighter Group Texas Air Guard ,but he never made drills I once talked to the mait chief in Houston he claimed the he painted the LT G.Bush on the F-101 and after 4mo of no show was told by the unit Commander to remove it,But atleast he was in and not in Canada. Will say that the detail is great, and the Nomax looks right on as far as color..

I think my preferance for a figure would have been a composit of a young lt or better yet a figure of the F-16 pilot still missing fron the first Gulf war we still dont know what happened to him was last reported seen walking and escorted by Iraq soldiers.

You'd sure never see a Bill Clinton "action" figure. Unless dismantling the military is an action. I'd take 1 George Bush over 20 Bill Clinton's anyday... :x

As a side note, its not unusual to see a country's leader in military uniform. As Pres, he is the CIC. Churchill had a uniform for each branch of the service.

Well, you could have an action figure for Clinton, but it could never be sold to children... ;)

I'd buy one  ... but then again I used to have a Micheal Madsen action figure from Resevoir Dogs (taken from the scene where he cut off the cops ear with a straight razor)

I like the action figure deal, but there is one fault if I may be picky. S3 crews do not wear G-Suits. The S3 can only sustain 4.5 Gs max so a G suit is not needed. Other than that it looks pretty good.

The anti Bush crowd likes to talk about tax dollars for him to fly out on a publicity stunt and yes it was a publicity deal, but I have to believe he did it to inspire the troops most of all. Was Bill Clinton "on the clock" when he was being serviced by monica? Did I not pay tax dollars for that little date in the white house? Technically I did so if it's my money being spent I would much rather it be spent on the president being gung ho and landing on a carrier vs another president getting "a job" in the white house.

Lt. Scott "Spike" Spiecher is USN, and the A/C type was an F-14.

Personally, I don't care if he showed up for only half the drills. Also, I do not believe that ANG pilots have "drill". They have assigned flight time slots and duty times. Officers, and especially flight crew, do not have drill. I don't know if this Maint. Chief you talked to knows what the hell he is talking about or not, but personally I do not care. The man served, during a time of National Defense, and that is light years beyond what we can say about the last POTUS.

I think I'd pick une up too, it's bound to be worth something in 20 years.

what he is refering to is the fact that he never made drill this whole time he was assigned to thre different fighter sqd and the term "drill is used genericly. (fyi he was assigned to a postal unit and failed to make that too)

during "The Nam" only 4NG unit were called up (MAY have to check that) but it was a know common pratice so as not to be sent to "Nam" join the gr

uard, and for point of refferance I was I the guard and went active back in 1972.

I would get one for the realism of the suit ,but as stated prior I would be more interested if it had the face of the missing pilot from the first "Gulf War" We still dont know his status,of on of the crew of the AC-130 that went down with all listed as K.I.A. a few mos prior to G-day of the same war

Not trying to turn this into a "Wizzing match" but just stating what some of us as member of the active guard have talked bout There are still afew of us still in from the 70's.

Fates, that link makes him look like a moron or monkey.....

Yes folks he comes complete with a banana, and a collection of gramatically errored statements.

And you can get this one of a kind doll, by helping re-elect him....

Hmm??? On second thought, if Republicans are running that site, then they are making their man look retarded, and if dems are running it, then they are making themselves look retarded.

4K for an action figure... I think the better buy would be a life size Monica Lewinsky doll complete with vacuum hook up :lol:
