A Tale of Two Shaders

The image below contains two custom shader FX. One is a terrain shader that gives the otherwise untouched WoI terrain in that image, a grainy "sand wave" effect.

 

I'm interested in seeing if the sharper-eyed members of this forum can find out the second shader effect in that same image

Couldn't tell about exhaust haze, can we get something like a 1600x1200 screen?

 

The sand ripples do look beyond fantastic. Between this, some the third party water fx and CA_starry and brain32's terrain work, it really makes TKs sims stand up to the others in terrain quality!

Sun glare reflecting form a Mirage? It's really nice and shiny wouldn't say I've seen that before...but then again...

FastCargo was right, the first time

 

It's heat blur, though I'm having a helluva time keeping the effect localized to the area of the exhaust nozzle...and even then, its only visible from certain angles, and when viewed against dark backgrounds.

Well, if it's just a plane that stretches across, away from the exhaust nozzle, why not have it rotate along the Z axis so it can be seen from all angles, or better yet, have it twist around, like a screw, so if you do have it rotate, it creates a sort of "wave" effect as well.
