Fubar512 1,350 Posted June 24, 2008 A writeup of the accident: http://www.mycentraljersey.com/apps/pbcs.d...PORTS/806220380 The irony of this, is that I witnessed a similar tragedy at the same track during the summer of 1977 or '78, and the driver was even running in the same lane that Scott Kalitta had his accident in. The car in that incident was a jet dragster, essentially a J-79 bolted to a tube frame. Somehow, the the driver lost conciousness, never tripped the braking 'chutes, and hit the wall at the end of the track at well over 300 MPH.
