kukulino Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 (edited) Hallo pilots  I flew 77 Squadron RAAF Mustang in my Korean install. I used older skin for it. Than I get idea We have perfect template for Mustang by suhsjake. So I tried some little editing... Looks good I think So I want upload it. But I have some little questions. I used roundels and tail insignia from Meteor (I paste them on skin). Their author is Gramp. So do I need permission from him to use his work? Or just credits are needed? And I used small parts of nose section from pappychksix "Mouse Meat" F-51D Mustang. Question is the same. Thanks  Edited September 24, 2008 by kukulino Quote

Skins are the only thing you do not ever need permission for. Just give credit and you are always fine. Quote
Wrench Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 Kuk, take a look at my "generic plane metal" Mustang ... there's some tweeks you're missing. Probably in either the Cold War skins or WW2 skins...can't remember which 1) Pilot Seat!!! that poor sod is probably just sitting on a milk crate! 2) Lighting fixes -- all the correct locatins for ALL the formation/running lights. 3) exhaust shourd now covered (decal--I'm sooo slick!) 4) armour upgrades The roundells look a little ragged around the edges ... there's a pack of roundells fin flashs and stuff over at simmerspaint shop...them make real good looking ones. I'll try to find the url for you, if you can't find them. oh, and with a few data ini tweek, you'll create a 'nation specifc' RAAF bird.... Wrench kevin stein Quote
kukulino Posted September 25, 2008 Author Posted September 25, 2008 (edited) Thank you guys for replies  OK, I tried new roundels from simmerspaint shop. Some little editing... I used older Mustang model version in my Korea install I think. So I found nevest in aircraft pack and aplied your fixies Wrench. Really looky good this Mustang And your idea about nation specific Mustang sounds good Edited September 25, 2008 by kukulino Quote
Wrench Posted September 25, 2008 Posted September 25, 2008 the light positions are the same on all versions (excepting the P-51A, A-36, RAF Mustang 1 and 1a) Landing lights are different on those, and Wolf added the actual "headlight" in the port landing gear bay on Ver.3. All the setups are for Ver.3; I have noticed a slight difference in the mapping around the prop and spinner from Ver 2 to Ver.3, but nothing that can't be fiddled with. Having done a butt-load of Mustang skins.....helps I DOES look much better now!! AND..you save ME a load of work too - I was gonna do the SAAF version for Korea at some point. Still might....my template for the 51D is ONLY 70 megs deep... Now, all you need is a better pilot figure! Wrench kevin stein Quote
kukulino Posted September 30, 2008 Author Posted September 30, 2008 (edited) Question for Wrench: OK, if I want "make" specific Australian Mustang add on, I see two ways: 1) ask original author for permission and if I get it, than i can use all needed files in Australian P-51D pack 2) put together needed files, which are necesary for specific nation pack. This mean that I will write read me in this sence: rename original P-51D-30 to RAAF_P-51D than delete skin folders. Than copy files from my Australian Mustang pack into RAAF_P-51D and let ovewrite (in this pack may be included renamed ini files, RAAF specific edits, and probable your fixies from your F-51D Mustang, Generic Natural Metal, Skin & Ini Pak ----- If you get me permission use files from your pack) 2.1) or copy new RAAF_P-51D folder with needed files into your WOX aircraft folder. Than copy LOD files from P-51D-30 folder into RAAF_P-51D. Go fly... (needed permission use your files from F-51D Mustang, Generic Natural Metal, Skin & Ini Pak). Looks like the best way for me. What do you think, what is better? Edited September 30, 2008 by kukulino Quote
Wrench Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Do it the same way I did the RAF Mustangs...include all the inis & everything else necessary, just don't include the LOD or cockpit folder. Wolf dosn't want the LOD redistributed; you might get way with including the cockpit, though. I've forgotten to remove it a few times, and he seemed ok with. But, to safe.... Otherwise, he dosn't care how much it's modded. Also, please feel free to include my K-14 gunsight mod. Just use the P-51D_cockpit ini off the "Generic Metal" skin, and include the to gunsight tgas. In fact, the way I did it was have the /cockpit subfolde, with just the 2 tgas in it. That way, the end used can do a copy/paste of the original cockpit folde OVER it, and not have to worry about the gunsights, as the new cockpit ini is already pointing them to it. So, to create the RAAF bird, you'd have a new aircaft folder "P-51D_RAAF". You'd rename the original main ini form "P-51D-30" to (depending on years -- I don't know if the RAFF ever renamed P to F like the USAF did in 1947) "P-51D_RAAF.ini" in the top section of the data ini; you can rename that if you want to; it's not really necessary as it's sitting in the new RAAF folder. Me, I'm particular about that, so like on the RAF mustangs, I've renamed the data ini to match, so in this case "P-51D_RAAF_data.ini" Like this: [MissionData]NationName=Australia ServiceStartYear=1945 <-- pure guesswork on my part!! ServiceEndYear=1955 AircraftRole=FIGHTER AircraftCapability=DAY_ONLY Availability=VERY_COMMON Exported=FALSE <--note the 'not exported' ExportStartYear= ExportAvailability= PrimaryRoles=SWEEP,CAP,ESCORT,INTERCEPT SecondaryRoles=ARMED_RECON,STRIKE,RECON,CAS,SEAD,FAC,ANTI_SHIP NormalMissionRadius=724 MaxMissionRadius=1125 Ceiling=12771.12 MinBaseSize=SMALL as for the loadouts, both in the data ini and loadout ini, leave them alone, keeping "USAF" as the attachment type, as all those WW2 weapons are 'exported'. Although you might want to switch the drop tank to the 108 galllon version. I know in WW2 our 'stangs flying from Iwo used them a lot! The only other question would be if the RAFF used the 60lb rocket instead of the 5" HVAR.....in that case, you'd need to create a new weapon off the "P51Rkt_Rack", editing them to swap out the HVARs for 60#ers. Personally, that's too much damn work!!! Creating nation-specific planes is just too easy! If you need help, or got more questions, let me know!! I've done it more time than I care to think about! Wrench kevin stein ps: look at the readmes for my RAF Mustangs -- they've got everything already written down. If you want, I'll rewrite one for a RAFF version Quote
kukulino Posted September 30, 2008 Author Posted September 30, 2008 Thanx for permission and guidance Wrench  I will let you know if I will fall in some troubles Quote
