3ds Max 9 for $149.95

Recommended Posts

I found this on a site that sells cheap software a while ago.

http://cheapoemsoft.net/software/pc/autode..._3ds_max_9.html

The claim is that the software is purchased in bulk at low prices and it can be sold so cheaply becuase you are just getting a CD image with no physical material like manuals. I just wanted to know if anyone here has ever bought anything from this site and what do you think of it?

And let's not all forget that you can get it for free :ninja:

I don't think the folks down the road (Autodesk) would like that...

But $150 is a LOT better than $3500 (assuming it's legal).

That is why I am hoping someone here has used the site or knows someone who has. I made one exterior model in Gmax, but I would like to make and import models myself.

It's very unlikely this is legal. Autodesk don't really sell you the software, they sell you a license which if you read through the EULA is non-transferable. I also don't think there is such a thing as an OEM install of 3D Studio, it's not that kind of product.

Agreed, that's certainly not legal, as you're getting no license:

Important: By pressing this button you agree to receive the software designated for home use only without any certificate or a license. You will not be able to register this software with the manufacturer.

So you're paying $150 to download a 30-day trial you can get for free directly from autodesk.

If you're a student (or teacher) you can get an educational license for something like $600. Can't sell any work though, that was my method for getting 3ds, father teaches various computer classes at a college.
