Badger Lead Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 What? The film wasn't released to theaters? Like heck it wasn't, There was a special showing at both NAS Oceana and NAS Whidbey Island base theaters the weekend before it was nationally released. When it was released was after Desert Storm had ended and it only made $14.4 million total around the world before Paramount shelved it (it cost them $35mil to produce it). Inside the A-6 community on a whole they laugh at it in the same way that the F-14 folks laugh at Top Gun. ha, the F-14 and A-6 folks might laugh, but the Navy sure doesn't. Recruitment skyrocketed after Top Gun came out in 86, it inspired a lot of people. Quote
+Spectre_USA Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 I am sure the USAF recruiting efforts plummeted after that stinker series "Iron Eagles." What a series of slop those were... Quote

Actually the USAF wasn't in anyway involved with that series as it is policy not to associate with productions that feature aircraft being stolen. The aircraft in the movies are all from the IAF. All they saw was some fat MSgt working in the intel office letting kids rifle through intel photos. Quote
GASCAN39 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 excellent book, excellent game (at the time) still have my Amiga in storage, (and probably the game too!); Then there was the movie.......... Took a date to see it, not exactly a romantic film! And they did not do the book justice......Great footage of the Intruder in some parts of it. I can think of one realistic part in the movie, making the flight surgeon puke!!!! Quote
