Rickitycrate Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Best wishes on that one M8. It seems to me it would be damn hard. Give 'er a go, 'ere's to ya S! Quote
Red-Dog Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I'am off to work now Rickity but i've made a start..... Quote
Rickitycrate Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I'll say you have Red Dog. I've been out balloon busting in the Chambers plane. Lots of fun that. I see you posted that pic 3 hours ago... she done yet. Just kidding, kinda. Quote
UK_Widowmaker Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Well..It's been a long time since I had a chance to do some more skinning, and today I thought 'Sod it' This Camel is a representation of an aircraft from 112 Squadron RAF. I only had a side view to work from, so not sure if it's totally accurate, but it's one I have been wanting to do for a while. (Note the white 'swastika' on the Tail)...obviously used before the 'You know who's' got a hold of it ) I shall upload in a bit, so if you want to try it..enjoy Quote
Olham Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 (edited) Hey, Widow, nice to hear and see something from you. You may have these illustrations already, but worth a try. You may notice another swastika there. It is just a very old symbol, that was not created, but only used by the Nazis. Edited August 25, 2009 by Olham Quote
UK_Widowmaker Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Hi Olham..thank you. Wow, yes, I have done a few of those (Kissenbeth's Camel, The Russian one and now this 112 sqd one)...But there are a few there I have never seen!....that Yellow, green and blue is almost as colourful as your German aircraft!...though, us Brits never seemed to 'quite' get it did we?....lol Quote
Olham Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 That's what I thought, Widowmaker - that yellow Camel should get skinned by you. It is absolutely as colourful as the German designs. Will you try it? Quote
UK_Widowmaker Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 (edited) Yes, the Swastika is originally a Hindu symbol I believe? Yes, I might just give that one a go mate!!! It's quite a small picture though..do you have a link to something a bit bigger? Edited August 25, 2009 by UK_Widowmaker Quote
Olham Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Here is a link to a model builder's site with such a colourful Camel. Enjoy! http://images.google.de/imgres?imgurl=http://cammett.websds.net/images/gallery/fullsize/Revell-1_32-Sopwith-Camel_1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://cammett.websds.net/gallery.htm&usg=__ZJoFfMs38wq7d-eoPHpU2yPSmmI=&h=305&w=584&sz=39&hl=de&start=35&um=1&tbnid=ajjICnjmBe_eOM:&tbnh=71&tbnw=135&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dsopwith%2Bcamel%2Bmarkings%26ndsp%3D18%26hl%3Dde%26sa%3DN%26start%3D18%26um%3D1 Quote
UK_Widowmaker Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 wow!...I shall give it a go...but it looks a bit advanced for my limited skills!...just promise you wont laugh ok?...lol Quote
UK_Widowmaker Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 THINK IT IS ABOUT TIME WE START TO GET THE BELGINS BACK INTO THE FRAY F.1 CAMEL FOR THE 11TH ESCADRILLE, SOON WILLBE A COUPLE OF WILLY COPPENS HD-1S HIS N-17 AND A STANDARD HD1 IN THE FRENCH 5 CAMO PATTERN Nice skin Stump! Quote
Olham Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 (edited) Promised, Widowmaker. Here is a site for papermodels, where you can read more about the design "Wings of Horus". And a Belgian Camel (don't know how true it is). http://images.google...%3D306%26um%3D1 Edited August 25, 2009 by Olham Quote
UK_Widowmaker Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 That's nice too! (I wouldn't dare do a Belgian Camel...that's Stumps territory!! ) I have found some nice Russian Aircraft I plan to do next...I'm a bit obsessed with Russian Aircraft for some reason..I have done a few now here's two I will try before long Quote
Olham Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Wow, a Russian Tripe?!? Just googled to find more about the "Wings of Horus" Camel, but didn't. That is definitely a very difficult design to make. I feel a bit exhausted, without knowing what from. I did an American SPAD, which is one page back; and now I'm thinking about a Marineflieger (Navy) Albatros with the Naval three colour Lozenge I saw from Bullethead's DFW-Design. But I haven't found any pics yet. Quote
UK_Widowmaker Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 (edited) Have to say m8.... If you had done that Spad for the contest, you would have made the competition EXTREMELY Close!...It's just stunning!! Edited August 25, 2009 by UK_Widowmaker Quote
Olham Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Yes, if... But what had me irritated with the skinning contest, was rather that I had thought, we should create new skins. And then a totally normal, re-done skin wins. Didn't get that, to be honest. Quote
UK_Widowmaker Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Yes, if... But what had me irritated with the skinning contest, was rather that I had thought, we should create new skins. And then a totally normal, re-done skin wins. Didn't get that, to be honest. Yeah... I mean I would never detract from the Winning Skin, it was superb...But, I too was under the impression that it was 'design your own Skin' contest too....but hey ho!...it was fun anyhow :) Quote
Olham Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Yes, indeed, it was! And we have sure learnt a lot about skinning. And of course the skin was great - didn't mean to make it down. Just was a sort of misunderstanding. Perhaps we will have another contest some day - when some new planes are out? Nupe 28; Sopwith Snipe; DVIII? Good night for now! Quote
UK_Widowmaker Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 Sopwith Snipe?...Did someone say SOPWITH SNIPE??? (oh god..dont get me started again matey!!!) Goodnite Quote
RAF_Louvert Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 stumpjumper, Olham, Red-Dog, Widowmaker, Bullethead, outstanding recent work on all your parts, (hope I didn't miss anybody). I like each and every one of 'em, but I think my personal favorite of the bunch is Bullethead's. Really looks great and captures the feeling of that B/R plane very well. Please keep those creative projects going, and post the files when you have them done so we might all share in your masterpieces. Cheers! Lou Quote
Crossbones Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Sorry these screens are dark but I was late coming home from an escort mission. I had some extra ammo and decided on a tree near the field for target practice. To my surprise I shot down the tree. I have never noticed this before. Is it new with the patch? Really enjoying this game! Crossbones Quote
