Luiz Carlos Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Is there any kind of performance degradation modeled ingame? Even after had lost entire pieces of their tails the Migs seems to be able to turn as hard as ever. The only degradation I have seen was after hitting a Mig 17 in the engine it became to smoking badly and was unable to accelerate more than 500Km/hr. But aerodynamic degradation is not modeled. At least not so easy to see like in the Il2 series. Am I right?
Viper6 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 While i don't know if this effects the migs but i have flight model set to normal and when i hit a plane on the wings or tail it spins out of control then and there.
+Fubar512 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Performance in as far as maneuverability is definitely effected by damage in this series. Just because an aircraft can no longer pull 8 G's after it loses most of its pitch authority, due to the loss of say, one elevator, doesn't mean that it still cannot turn inside of you at a lower airspeed. MiG 17's, for example, will stay airborne and are quite controllable below 130 knots, whereas Phantoms need at least 250 knots of indicated airspeed to perform the same maneuver.
zmatt Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 The Damage model is pretty good in the game. Elevators, ailerons, rudder, etc are all modeled and a loss of them will create the appropriate reaction. For example, if you lost the rudder surface, you lost that longitudinal control, but if you lost the whole slab then you will most likely spin out of control.
