Polovsky,question about campaigns.

Recommended Posts

If you shot down in a mission an enemy ace, it will remain dead until the end of campaign?

And how this will affect the morale of his squadron?

The damage you do to enemy airfields affect the strenght of the enemy patrols in the next missions?

Enemy aces can be downed by you, but not killed.

Nor can you in any way change the outcome of the war, so NO for both.

And NO: my name is not Pol (Lol!)

You can´t kill an ace?

So,if you encounter a downed ace in the next mission,he looks like a zombie?

He will definately remain dead for the remainder of the mission. Campaign that's another story, and the Manager learns by it's mistakes, so it might indeed be more difficult to kill him yet again. Besides for every Ace you kill, a pair might take his place.

You are the enemy, and you must die PERIOD. Their feelings about killing you are unimportant.

I've yet to attack an airfield with aircraft on it ( scheduled attack )

So what can You hope to accomplish, waste your precious allotment of ammunition. Ventilating tents and empty Hangers ? And while you're in the process of ventalating, the occupants WILL return in force, and be not in the best of moods, where you are concerned.

Well , I didn´t know the airfields are mostly empty.(I´m still waiting the mail)

I was hoping to be possible to weaken an enemy squadron by catching it with their paits down in their airfields(something that could justify the risk of facing AAA)

So,you can fight with the same ace many times in the same campaign,if I understood well (AI don´t play DiD)

Aces can only die on the day they really did, otherwise it wouldn't be historic - all the historical data would then be out of whack ;)

But as they guys say you can down them, but they will escape to come back and fight until their day is come..

The name of the game, is survival to fight yet another day, if you SPLASH 12 enemy aircraft today. Tomorrow you might not be as Lucky, because another 12 will be awaiting your appearence. Just living to fight another day, is your mission. Any brave fool can wade into the enemy formation, and go down in ball of flame. You might encounter Ace #23 with 14 Kills to his credit today, and Ace # 16 with 11 scalps hanging from his lodge pole . . tomorrow, if either one kills you, you're just as dead. But if you manage to survive those meetings, you might meet Ace #95 the following day. There are NO personallities in WAR, only survival

I´m not sure you understood what I was asking, but Pol did it and already answer my question.

Thank you very much anyway.

Luiz,

UncleAl understood your question perfectly. Trying to make sense of his answer however, is where it can get a bit challenging. I think I understood the part about scalps hanging from a lodge pole. The rest of it I'm still working on.....

Cheers,

No problems , Parky.

Pol´s statement makes total sense to me,about aces dying only in their historical dates.

It adds to imersion.
