I fly along the blue line and get to a waypoint on the map. It looks like a circle with an arrow on it on the map, I don't know if this is trying to tell me something. I can fly around in circles until I am blue in the face or run out of petrol and the TAC blue line always points back the way I came. So I go back and fly around some more at the waypoint. Eventually I give up and fly back home using the map. I unfortunately cannot warp any more because that just takes me back to the waypoint that I circled.

With all this circling I eventually ended up at 10 000 ft in a Be2c, which takes some doing. Then my engine stopped and wouldn't restart until I came down to 9 000 ft. (I have auto-mixture on btw). Just as I got the stupid RAF engine to start, my wingman ran into me and everything went red. It must have been him because there were no EA about. Not the most enjoyable sortie as no Fokkers turned up. I was hoping to dive on them from a great height

Jim,

It sounds like you arrived at a target waypoint - these don't automatically switch to the next one. To move to the next waypoint you have to switch manually.

Thanks Olham and Homeboy. It looks as if I was at the top of the Be2c envelope (not that they called it that in 1915). I think I tried shift+w but it didn't work. Will try again. Maybe I should set the 'don't fly into your leader' setting

Jim, I have programmed "controls" that way, that I only need to press "W" to get the next waypoint.

I hate key commands, that need two or even three keys - no use for that.

Click "escape" once you're in the cockpit, on the left menue "controls" and search for it there.

Isn't there another type of waypoint where you're supposed to linger for a time as in a Combat Air Patrol?

Would need to see the mission file perhaps...

I tried that. The mission said I had to stay for 14 mins and I stayed for much longer than that. But I have found that the manual override works, so I select next waypoint and off we go.

Yes Jim, but you might miss out on your mission goal because you haven't visited all the waypoints. (Even though you actually have).

You can also miss targets which are 'scripted' to appear while you're loitering about. A spawn of enemy aircraft might appear prompted by the time passing, or maybe a ship is steaming on a course which coincides with your own flight path provided you're in the right place at the right time.

Actually there are no scripted events or spawns in OFF. This was one of the major improvements from Phase 2 to Phase 3. All AI flights are in flight in real time throughout the mission. Nothing appears out of thin air just because of where you fly.
