Broadside uda Barn 0 Posted August 9, 2009 I saw a blurb on this and was thinking about reading it. It's $17 or so for the paperback, which seems a lot, for a paperback. Any opinions on this book? Also, wasnt Yeates in ww1?
RAF_Louvert 101 Posted August 9, 2009 Outstanding contemporary book BuB, by an outstanding individual. I have read it myself at least twice and I would highly recommend it Sir. Cheers! Lou
Guest British_eh Posted August 10, 2009 (edited) Hi there: It's on my next book list. Just finished "Flying Fury" by J. McCudden, which was great for relaying the days as they were for him as a pilot. I thought "Saggitaruis Rising" was a bit to much flowery prose, and philisophical musings, to be taken too seriously. Good book though to get the feeling for the era. Cheers, British_eh Edited August 10, 2009 by British_eh
shredward 12 Posted August 10, 2009 Yeates flew Camels with 46 Sqn through most of 1918; his Flight Leader was Donald MacLaren. His book takes you inside his head, and lets you feel the emotions, and the fear of a pilot at the Front better than any book I can think of. Absolutely required reading. Cheers, shredward
