I'm still fooling around with clouds some more, trying to get different looks each time. I've figured out a way to use three different clouds in the same flight directory. So now I can use a different cloud for scattered, broken, inclement, etc. This tweek works out very well because some clouds look better as scattered and some better as broken and so on.

I have three different sets of three clouds. Here's some screenshots of the results...

Dude, those are sweet.

I'm waiting to install your first pack on my home gaming rig. How are they on the FPS?

Wow, the clouds in screenshot 5 look immense! As storm asked, do they effect the FPS?

Sounds like my recent Realistic Sky Mod First Eagles. You can actually have up to FIVE differnet clouds in the Environmentalsystems.ini, but it only uses four of them. :yes:

Thanks guys.

hehe. They don't always look like that in the Inclement setting, but obviously they can. I just thought that shot was picturesque.

I honestly don't know how the FPS is affected. My rig is fairly new but I've never gotten "great" framrates with it. I normally get 25-35 FPS, and while using these clouds I don't see a change. When I took Screen 5, I had 54 FPS at that moment. The environmentsystem.ini is modded from the new widesky which I understand can affect framerates. I removed a couple lines about shadows which, I believe, may cause the framerate drop. Once removed they don't seem to degrade the look of the clouds. I also use far fewer cloud particles and will definitely improve the FPS.

I'd love it if anyone would test it out to see if their FPS is affected. Storm, I'd like to hear if these work for you. Here's a sample of just one set of clouds.

Panamared - Very cool that you figured out the trick too. I haven't tried your mod "yet" since I haven't flown FE for a while...but I will definitely get it. I'm only using three out of the possible five because I use the same cloud in broken as overcast. The handling in overcast brings out highlights in the image that broken doesn't, so it looks different anyway. I also have never gotten any clouds to in the "clear" setting, so I didn't bother with a new image. If you know how to make them show up, I'd like to hear about it.

Cheers!

No clouds in Clear, that is why I said that you can install five types of Clouds, but it will only use the Clouds in Scattered, Broken, Overcast and Inclement.

Look forward to your mod, the more the better. :clapping:

Hey man, awesome!

btw could you do a version for SF2 Series?

Sorry, Dude. I don't have any of the SF2 sims...yet. But I do think I've seen people using "new widesky" in SF2. Cloudscape is based on new widesky so I think Clouscape will work just fine in SF2 as is. There's a sample in this thread if you want to try it out.

Hmmm...okay I never changed anything with the sun, but we can still work on it.

I assume you've placed this in SF2x, so would you check in your original environmentsystem.ini file and look for this...

[sun]

SunAngle=0.98

DaySunMaterial=DaySunMaterial

DaySunSize=25.0<--original value?

What is the value you have for "DaySunSize" in your original environmentsystem.ini?
