Creaghorn 10 Posted August 27, 2009 so now i'm back from croatia and found this new site layout and a loooot of stuff to read. as long as i found out i would have to read everything from page 10 to now. i tried the new superpatch with the newest minipatch, and all i can say is, wow. i'm really impressed. archie is much more realistic and much better visible. the terrain looks much more real. the planes look more sharp. the damage models are very well done. the new stuff on airfields are also great (although wondering why i can see in german hangars spareparts and wngs in allied colors. probably investigation of parts of enemie wreckages). first i was little disappointed about the reduced flight density, but now i'm happy because as long as i found out it means the flights are smaller, but on the other hand you can meet more different flights in the air. here some two seaters, there some other scouts. smaller groups but more of them. like in old red baron 3d. good job. i'm very impressed. most of all the new menu picture of with the pilot leaning on his albatros. wow. overall i can say this patch is very very well done
Olham 164 Posted August 27, 2009 Indeed, Creaghorn, it is! Welcome back at the front! I wonder, that you find the flights are smaller now? Mine were not. But you can always go to workshop and set "regional air activity" higher. Mine used to be on "low" and now, since I set it to "medium", I have lots of action going. If you ever think of flying the SPAD: it's flight model is much improved, and it's great fun to fight in her, if you like boom&zoom tactics. But she can even turn better now; and when you have enough or no ammo left - you just fly home and let the Huns behind you. The new Flak assigns you much better now, when there are enemies in your area. After all, this is so much improved now, to me it was like "Phase 4" - and I wouldn't make it any cheaper! Olham 164 Posted August 27, 2009 Yes, I was quite a 'beanstalk' in my younger days - but I wonder how Paarma found this picture. I don't even have it myself.
Olham 164 Posted August 27, 2009 Don't know; never tried. Better ask with a new post?
Hasse Wind 46 Posted August 27, 2009 Welcome back, Creaghorn! I hope the weather was nice on the Mediterranean coast - here up North the first signs of autumn are already clearly visible, leaves are turning yellow and all that. The superpatch did indeed improve OFF tremendously. The most useful and realistic improvement in my opinion is the new flak - now you can actually spot enemy flights by searching for flak explosions and then flying towards them. This was practically impossible in previous versions. It works really well and feels and looks exactly like I always imagined it really did in the Great War. Now there's even less need for using TAC or labels.

Creaghorn 10 Posted August 27, 2009 Welcome back, Creaghorn! I hope the weather was nice on the Mediterranean coast - here up North the first signs of autumn are already clearly visible, leaves are turning yellow and all that. no, it was wonderful and really really hot and sunny. not a cloud in the sky besides when the BORA rised. what i love the most is the very cranky sea. the croatian adriatic sea is very well known for the mighty BORA winds and therefor the dangerous waters. the sea can be calm and suddenly within minutes it can turn into a wild storm with hughe waves for several hours with windspeed upt to about 250km/h. then it suddenly calms down like never anything has happened and and might stay calm for days or weeks. this is like poseidon gets furious and then calms down. the people know when they see certain signs of the BORA they have only about 15 minutes to find a save harbour. often tourists in own boats or sailingships have to get rescued or simply get swallowed because they don't know the signs. or as somebody has written in the 19th century: The BORA, the great disturber of this sea, rises always without the slightest warning. With the power of a tornado she ambushes the sailormen and allowes only the boldest to stay on deck. Sometimes she rampages for weeks. but the dalmatian (not the dogs, but the croatian region where the dogs are from )is from childhood on used to her and trained to brave her. He gets tough under her breath and condemns the miserable winds of other seas. to take a look of what i mean just watch this. there are some clips about the BORA and this is an experience everybody should have once in his life. Snakes: althought looking back its hard to remember, I heard of the Posko while in S.E. Asia. There was one (think the same one hung in trees) called the two steper because if you were bit that was how far you would get. ! And a nasty little spittin snake ( Corba ?) instead of bitin the little devil would spit poison. Nasty little devils, but they didnt come looking for U. Hasse Wind 46 Posted August 27, 2009 That looks quite dangerous, Creaghorn! I don't live near seas, so we don't have to worry about such waves, but in winter we do often have extremely cold weather and blizzards which can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. For example, it's fatal to drink too much and then pass out in the snow, though I suppose it's an easy way to go because you won't feel anything.

Creaghorn 10 Posted August 28, 2009 Welcome back Creaghorn Sounds like you had a great time! We've got sumthin like the BORA here too ...Hurricanes you are right, duce. windspeed is about the same. they have different natural reasons why they occure and i think hurricanes are more predictable in forecasts some days earlier as long as i know. the great winter boras are also somewhat predictable because you know they'll come every year. the summer boras are really random and they come in a sudden. on both, hurricanes and boras no good idea to be at sea at that time

Creaghorn 10 Posted August 28, 2009 So where are the screenshots of the beach babes and your AARs of your conquests? Oh yeah, welcome back. Did you bring us any good booze from home? Supplies are running low here at the front. i wanted to make a gallery to post some pics, but combat ace gives me some error message so i might need some help. i remembered you're request usually they make often own wine and own grappa because you don't need to have a license and no tax. i drank grappa after dinner. was too much for me. kills every infection you might have in your body. i would rather use it as antifreeze in my car
Bullethead 12 Posted August 28, 2009 i think hurricanes are more predictable in forecasts some days earlier I dunno. Last year I got really pounded by Hurricane Gustav. And then here came Ike about a week behind, and the weathermen didn't have a clue where it was going. I was able to watch this fiasco because I had a generator to run my TV--didn't get shore power restored until about the time Ike arrived, and then Ike knocked it out again for a couple more days. Anyway, Ike totally foxed the weathermen. In the morning they'd say it was going to hit a certain place, but by evening they'd changed their minds, and they'd change their minds again the next morning. Their predicted impact area swung like a pendulum all across the Gulf of Mexico and halfway back. First it was going to stay in the Atlantic and go up the east coast of Florida. Then right up the middle of Florida, then up its west coast. Then it was going to hit Mobile AL, then New Orleans and me, then Lake Charles LA, then Galveston TX, then Corpus Christi TX, and finally Brownsville TX on the Mexican border. And then it started swinging back east again, until it finally sideswiped me and hit Galveston.
