kentcol 1 Posted September 19, 2009 I got a new video card and re-installed the game. Now it won't work! I get to the WWI Initializing screen where it freezes. I searched and found one topic on this and my resolution is set to the same as desktop, which is the max. Very frustrating! My system: Intel Duo Core 3.4 3 GB DDR Ram Windows XP Asus Realtek Sound Card Nvidia GTS 250 video card
kentcol 1 Posted September 20, 2009 Try going to Workshop first thing, and clicing on ( Graphics Config ) Lower Right Quadrent. Then just sit back and let it do it's thing, no input needed, as it's all auto. Might take awhile, this being the first time. After that's done, you get to reset all your settings, Particularly your Graphics Sliders. Anytime the Video Card is Changed, Video Drivers Updated, any major change to your system, including system restore. You MUST do a Graphics Config Tried that and didn't work.:(
sitting_duck 3 Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) lol... if it was me, i would go back to cfs3config (which is the graphics config button in workshop)....when it says cfs3 has been configured,,,click on file and then change display options...your probably on default, which may or may not be your screen resolution...i would suggetst clicking on select resolution, and try something a little lower than what you have your desktop set to. If that works, then move it up... just out of curiosity, you said you reinstalled the game.....did you do that because you put in the new video card?, or where there other problems that made you reinstall? also, do you have cfs3 installed. if so,,see how that plays. kentcol 1 Posted September 20, 2009 Thanks for your help, uncleal. Sorry to be a bother to you.:) I did reset, I did go to config and reset everything. I re-installed because it wouldn't run after I installed the new card. My pc does recognize the new card because all my other stuff runs like a dream. I'm at a loss. kentcol 1 Posted September 20, 2009 A driver issue maybe? My driver version is: 6.14.0011.9062 dated 8/17/
kentcol 1 Posted September 20, 2009 I have been trying it with my desktop resolution. I guess I'll try some older drivers and see if that works. Thanks.
kentcol 1 Posted September 20, 2009 Rolled back to original older drivers, still no luck. I'm guessing I just can't run the game with this video card. Don't mind the $50 I donated to OBD cause it's a great sim. Just can't run it. Have fun guys and thanks for trying to help.
Herr Prop-Wasche 7 Posted September 20, 2009 Don't give up yet! "Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the going gets tough . . . the tough get going.Who's with me? Let's Go! Come on! AAAAEEEEEGGGHHHH!!" Just by chance, did you click on the X on the right side of the graphics config box instead of clicking on File/Exit on the left? Your changes don't "take" if you click on the X. Also, try lowering the refresh rate on your monitor. Perhaps your monitor won't run at your usual refresh rate when you are at maximum resolution.

Refresh rate is same as monitor. It's at lowest setting. Thank you for your help. I AM still trying!

sitting_duck 3 Posted September 21, 2009 strange problem to say the least.... when you are at the wwi initialising screen, that is when cfs3.exe is being started up from by off manager... if you get a chance,,,look for your cfs3.exe in your obd\cfs3ww1 off directory, and start the game from there, bypassing the off manager,,,curiouse to see if you get the same problem. Herr Prop-Wasche 7 Posted September 21, 2009 Okay, if the game will not run at the maximum resolution your monitor supports, try backing off on the resolution. Try 1024 X 960 or 1024 X 780.

Yes, same problem. Starts at initializing screen and just sits there. Okay, if the game will not run at the maximum resolution your monitor supports, try backing off on the resolution. Try 1024 X 960 or 1024 X 780. Tried 1024x768, no luck. Same problem. I just don't understand. It ran great with my "old: video cards. I had two Nvidia 7800 GTX's before. sitting_duck 3 Posted September 21, 2009 (edited) whew... these are all just guesses... not up on sli,,but is that something you have to enable in bios,,,or in os? and if so,,,(assuming you just got one card) did you disable it..(off is not sli enabled,,,maybe your other games are)... deleting your usiel.xml somethims solves some pretty quirky problems,,,,dont think its going to solve this one,,,but it wouldnt hurt. Game just rebuilds the file when it doesnt find one.. anything outta the ordinary about your system? seem to remeber some problems in the past that where prtty strange,,then come to find out they had 2 monitors,,,,and beive camel jocky had 2 sound cards that resulted in a problem.. almccoyjr 7 Posted September 21, 2009 When you "rolled back" the drivers, did you wipe out the Phys-X driver as well as the newer bits that 190.62 installs? I was having general problems getting NV driver to work properly and finally found that the driver cleaner I had been using for a long time didn't recognize Phys-X and several other entries that the newer drivers installed. I was getting error messages and when I didn't het the messages, several programs were just "borked". You may want to try a different d.c. plug_nickel (Al)

Did uninstall drivers and Phys X with a new driver cleaner and installed 186.16 drivers. Still freezes up at initialize screen! I'm about to give it up and move on. Just don't know what else to do. sitting_duck 3 Posted September 22, 2009 quitting is not an option....... still wondering if you have cfs3 installed on that computer,,,and if so, does it run... when you re install,,,are you removing the old install first,,,and deleting all the folders, including the ones in documents&settings\username\applicationdata\microsoft\cfsww1 off? kentcol 1 Posted September 22, 2009 Okay, uninstalled and deleted EVERYTHING. Re-installed original from cd and attempted to run the original, unpatched. Same...freezes at mission initializing screen. :(
sitting_duck 3 Posted September 22, 2009 (edited) is your cfs3 installed, or are you copying from a dvd or cd (that is patched to 3.1 already) if you are using an installed cfs3, and deleted that to, then reinstalled, did you make sure you played cfs3 at least once first before installing off and,,,getting to the point where i agree with uncleal....might be time to stick that other card in there,,and see how the game plays........ CFS3 installed and patched to 3.1. Did play it once before install. I know it works with the old card because I played it just before switching to the new one. kentcol 1 Posted September 24, 2009 I'll just relate the way it was, I leave it to others to make recommendations. This affected those running XP, in Phase II When a problem just kept, reoccuring after many uninstalls / reinstalls After the last uninstall the SEARCH function, complete with that annoying dog, sought all files containing "Over Flanders Fields" and same were deleted Then another SEARCH was conducted, this time including the 'Hidden Folders', 2 Folders ALWAYS showed up. Failure to nail those puppies, and the problem would just come back again, and again, and again, and again Okay, I'll give that a go and see what happens. kentcol 1 Posted September 24, 2009 Okay, I'll give that a go and see what happens. Uninstalled and searched and found the two hidden files and deleted. Reinstalled and the same, freezes at mission initialising screen. :(
