AROTH 0 Posted November 6, 2009 So, I have very little experience flying any 2-seaters over the past few months. I flew some in P2 but only fought them in P3. Tonite, I took up a FEE, a Roland, and a Hannover, all on free flights to reacquaint my self with their personalities. All were OK until I switched back to the gunner's seat. The notice advised me that the pilot was now in control of the machine. So, each time, immediately, the plane would start to wing-over, as if were beginning to make a death spin toward the earth. I gave it a few moments to gather itself an stabilize. And each time, the spin would flatten out and the machine would begin a very slow descent to earth. The throttle showed 0 %. Eventually, my plane would pancake in the middle of nowhere. The only way to save it would to go back to the pilot's control immediately and take over and reset the throttle. I am sure that I am only missing something small here (my brain). How does one properly switch to the gunner's position without the pilot running you into the ground at 100mph plus? Rickitycrate 10 Posted November 7, 2009 I think what you are seeing happen is because there are no waypoits to motivate the A/I pilot. Give it a go in a QC dogfight. He might fly her proper then.
+Polovski 460 Posted November 15, 2009 From the FAQ 6) Auto Pilot (Ctrl+Shift+A) is sometimes unreliable – we recommend that you keep it realistic and not engage Auto Pilot in WW1 crates as they had none. In some 2-seaters where you want to take over observer position, autopilot MAY help if it works OK. To have a good chance, enable autopilot after stabilising craft first, level it, and apply full power, and then use Ctrl+Shift+A. Remember to disable it before switching back to the pilot seat. Remember to fly a mission as gunner/observer there is likely no need to engage the “autopilot”... simply jump to the gunner seat (recommend using Shift+F8 key to avoid TrackIR shortcut defaults) without pressing autopilot keys! F6 returns.
